Wow.. For those that don't remember, no less than half a mile wide and it ran for nearly 6 miles.
Jillian sucks at photography, and could only upload some of her pics, as her ipod died and the rest are on her phone (a Razr, not quite sure how to get the pics)
These pictures don't even begin to convey the damage as we are not allowed on 15th for the most part.
The specifics are still undetermined, assumed to be an EF4/EF5 tornado, roughly a mile wide.
If anyone would like to help or donate, please contact me and I can get you pointed in the right direction.
Red - Direct damage/80-100% destruction
Blue - Secondary path/ 50% or less destruction
White - Campus
Black - Me
Yellow - The pictures below, from left to right
Quad facing Reese Phifer Hall
The Episcopal Church on Hackberry
15th Street near Campus
So.. the power is back on. We were told it could take weeks... My best guess is that the UA power grid is still intact (at least for the most part) and they bypassed the main destruction area. We have power... it may only be while Obama's here.. but we've got it. And I'm getting my first shower since late Tuesday... lolIstink
Roll Tide.
So most people are gone or in the process of leaving. We're under an 8pm curfew. Power is back for good afaik, and I'll be online for a while.
If anyone would like to help, text FOOD to 27722 to donate $10 to the West Alabama food bank. We can use anything we can get.
rumors are flying around everywhere about stuff here...
Most of West Alabama doesn't have power so it's utter confusion for the most part. Over 100,000 people state wide don't have power. I'm hearing about a 10pm curfew. We still have limited power from generators, rationing water, and almost no food. My mom may be coming down to get me (and maybe Jillian) this weekend, so Shu I might be up a little early. This means we have to pack tomorrow, my brother may come get us and take us over into Holt, meaning we might have power, but we're guaranteed food at least.
My aunt works for FEMA and she said it might take weeks to get power back up. If you pray, keep the residents of Alabama in your prayers. It is just absolute devastation up the road. Almost everything is gone. We went walking up there, almost everything is gone... Look up the videos on Youtube... it's just awful.
If you would like more the Crimson White has some first hand info. You can find it at cw.ua.edu. You can also find other info at abc3340.com
If anyone wants to contact me, just post here... I'll be checking when I can. Honestly folks, Alabama is going to need all the help it can get. Especially Cullman, which got hit twice is under 20 minutes.
As always... Roll Tide.
The dorms are all running on emergency backup generators. I've had news that all the UA campuses have been hit. We have no power and it is extremely hot inside. We are allowed to volunteer to help cleanup, but we have to get to the other side of the disaster area. In my case I'd have to walk through or around to get there.
Every working plug in the lobby is being grossly overused. There are a surge protectors and extension cords in every one of the 4 outlets. There are people packing up and leaving who can and others are either still sleeping, charging things in the lobbies, or standing in food lines at the one remaining dining hall. I'll be kicked off at noon.. so don't be surprised if I disappear.
For once I was partly asleep this morning and around 5am it sounded like someone with a drumline, a strobe light, and continuously pummeling gravel against the building.
We had 2 tornado warnings at 5:30... I couldn't even hear the sirens. That is how loud it was.
So I went to class around 8, everyone is talking about the weather this morning and what is expected today. Have you ever seen a WHITE spot in the middle of the typical heavy rain reds, yellows and greens? White. White is the absolute worst place to be on that map. Guess where the white area covered? East Mississippi, the top half of Alabama, and parts of Tennessee into Kentucky.
Holy shizzle dude... For anyone familiar with the area.. everything between the far side of University Mall and DCH is GONE. LEVELED.
A MILE WIDE TORNADO came through today around 4 hours ago. It was moving at over 50mph (80kph). Not much damage on campus (it picked up before getting to campus and didn't disappear until it had passed. If you folks give me a little bit, I'll make a map to show you the best I know of the damage.
verbs
I hate them. For example: Ich kann Deutsch, könnt Du? -OR- Ich will nach Hause. ('I can [speak] German, can you?' and 'I want [go] to home')
Tomorrow ought to be interesting... Extra shizzlety weather due to arrive around 6... which is when my last Sociology class is. Tornado sirens go off and we are stuck in the basement... My guess is class won't be canceled until the last minute, Jillian's mom will freak, and I will get a chance to wear my duster. Classes tomorrow: 8am, 9am, 11am, and 6pm. The last is 3 hours long. I can't even think clearly anymore...
I haven't been sleeping much... I don't really know why... Since Friday I've gotten... 10 hours of sleep? Maybe less... doubtfully more.
I've got insomnia... but good news for you folks... i'm pretty sure I'm almost completely over whatever cold or virus I had and should be able to record myself singing for you like I promised I would WAAAAYYY back in January.
I stopped being actually interested in things long ago... I may do things, you may see me smile... but honestly... I pretty much live in my own world. I haven't actually liked anything in years. Nothing makes me happy for very long. I hate myself and have tumultuous relationships with what few friends I have. I annoy people to no end and I make others laugh.
Depression's a nice doggy!
Also... my laptop is now solely dependent on the power cord... the battery is supposedly not charging, yet has gone up 35% in a week. As soon as I unplug the laptop it's off, so it's not anything I can really fix from here. My guess is it is the anti-aftermarket battery chip situation... Dell ftl

Ullamaliztli?
I found some music stuff that I thought was neat. Oddly enough they all came from the same website... Except I got there through Stumble lol.
What Pi Sounds Like
32 Songs in 8 Minutes
One-String Willie
Final score: Crimson 14, White 10.
Alabama is still lacking on the offensive accuracy of the 4 possible quarterbacks, and the battle between McCarron and Sims will continue. Defensively they played well, keeping up step for step with the offense.
I also found out one of the running back recruits is in my music class >.<
Oh! And Alabama set a new Spring game attendance record: 92,310 people came out to see it today. And that was just the number of people in the stadium. Not a bad turnout considering there were tornadoes all around us yesterday lol
So a few tornados have been coming down. Nearest one was about 4.7 miles away. It hit near Walmart :(
Because of the NWS we are stuck in the back hallway of a dining hall. For another half hour. Most likely we'll be back here longer than that.
I still have two wings and a little bit of my baked potato left.
Yeah... I knew one of my roommates plays RS... the other one just got back into it. And I log on whenever I have a p2p card handy...
I am the highest level btw ;D
