With the announcement of Group Ironman in Old School RuneScape, my friends and I have decided to get back into it. I played Old School briefly in 2019 but aside from that I haven't played either version in a couple of years probably. I'm so excited to play this game again, alongside some great mates.
Thought I'd post and say hi while I'm at it! Who here is still actively playing either version, or is considering playing GIM like me?
It's not like I'm disappearing off the face of the earth (although I will be soon), there's just a myriad of contributors.
I still check these forums nearly every day and I'm not sure why. It's a shame the community here has disappeared, but I guess we all move on at some point. I was just 11 years old when I first joined these forums in 2007 - I've spent more than half my life as a member of this community and in a way you could almost see me grow up just going through my post history, as cringe as it is. So I guess here is my first reason - there is nothing drawing me here anymore. All of my old friends from the "good old days" have disappeared. There is no new content or any sort of thriving community to be a part of. It sucks to say but it's the truth, unfortunately. I'll still check on a rare occasion but I won't participate and soon I won't be able to even if I wanted.
Second reason would be that I've finally maxed on RuneScape. I've played this game for about 13 years (12.5 on the same account) and everything that was drawing me to continue playing has now been completed. I'm not interested in any mindless grind or completing all the quests - I'm satisfied knowing I got 99 in all my skills. Finally.
Thirdly, I'm joining the New Zealand army in January as an officer. I won't be able to play any games or check any websites for the next year. This is the primary reason, because I'd probably still bum around if I wasn't busy doing anything else.
If any of you guys wanna stay in touch, flick me a PM and if I feel like I know you well enough we can exchange social media/whatever. Otherwise, au revoir!
P.S. screenshots weeow
Anyone else been playing it? I was wary at first considering the price and it being early access but a friend told me he easily got his money's worth (and I had a half dozen other friends also playing it) so I got it and I'm hooked.
My favourite match I've had so far was the first time I got a win playing duo with a friend, we had one kill between us and that was literally the last guy to win the game. HMU if you're keen to play.
I rarely play the game anymore, doing nothing more than occasionally logging in to do some dailies. I did put some effort in on DXPW, getting 99 Farming and a few other levels in the process. Also been grinding out Agility and Hunter through dailies and got 99 in both today. Screenshots below.
I've got three weeks off uni over Easter + mid semester break so might do some more active scaping. Kinda keen to get into training Invention but I'm not really interested in training Slayer/grinding out kills. Felt like I'd share seeing as this place is so inactive nowadays, at least posting something new provides content for people who lurk like me ;)
Currently on summer holidays and uni doesn't start until February 20th - I'm slowly getting back into the game due to boredom, doing some farm runs and dailies and such. I want to work on a few 99s I never got like combat etc but I probably shouldn't without training invention too and I've got no idea how this skill works. Anyone got an ELI5 for me or can link me to a good guide?
Also I'm hanging around here a lot so hmu if you're keen to chat or catch up about anything. I still check Sal's every day but rarely if ever post.
So after about 31 hours of flying, waiting and then flying some more, I am now in Amsterdam. Spent our morning wondering around the inner city, it's so cool - especially as someone who comes from such a young country with not nearly the amount of history that Europe has. I think our plan for the afternoon is to check out the Van Gogh museum and maybe the red light district later.
On a side note, the weed culture here is crazy. I get the feeling that it's played up for tourists (I've only noticed marijuana related stuff in tourist shops) but still. It's a bit of a culture shock to see hash products and seeds being sold so openly.
I'll start with other things first. I'm coming to Europe! Flying into Amsterdam around June 6th. Will be there for a few days and then in Hengelo for a few more. Then I'm in London from the 11th to the 25th. Might stay for the 26th too. I fly home from Amsterdam on July 5th or something which leaves me somewhere around a week and a half where I have nothing planned as of yet.
Anyway, onto DXP weekend. I didn't really want to bother making a topic in Achievements. Especially considering these aren't really that big achievements anymore. The fact that I did all this in less than seven hours total playing time still seems crazy to me after playing the game for years without getting anywhere.
So, in ~6 hours, I got nearly 10.7M exp. 15 levels including two skills to 99.
My god, some people act incredibly entitled. Read through this thread:
People need to understand that Rockstar, and other game developers, are a business. It is their job to make profits. They do not have to decrease the price of their product because it's the time for Steam's summer sales. Rockstar have an incredible product in GTA V and they shouldn't be targeted by a community as making a "scumbag cash-grab" because they still want to maximise profits in a time of year when they are expected to decrease the price of their game.
The level of saltiness on Reddit is unreal. People nice doggy!ing because they're too cheap to spend $60 on something that is (or at least I consider to be) worth the money?
This comment sums up my thoughts:
I'm supposed to be writing a program that translates a sentence to 'cow latin' (pig latin except changed slightly for this assignment). I've written a function that converts singular words, but I'm not sure how to proceed in applying that to entire sentences. I know it's to do with using the split function but I don't know how to apply that to my code.
First things first - what's up y'all?
Secondly, what I've been up to - Finished up my summer job just over a week ago, and moved into my flat on Wednesday. It's a tiny room where my bed takes up half of it, and the flat itself is pretty nasty, but it's two minutes walk from uni and five minutes by longboard to my work. The internet here is also fantastic compared to home.
I also put the idea of a motorbike on the back burner, because my parents are deadset against it and I figured I'll just wait until I'm a little older and more independent. Bought the new PC instead, and been having a lot of fun playing games on max settings (where I previously couldn't even play them).
I think uni doesn't start for like another two weeks so I'll just be mucking around/killing time until then. I was thinking of getting a month's membership like I did early last year when I had nothing to do.
So here's the situation. Summer holidays, the planned job I would've had ends up not happening. I have nothing to do during the week (originally I'd be out longboarding every day but a couple of mates got jobs etc, now weekends are only available for that kind of thing). I'm currently searching for summer work, but a back injury I got a while back stops me from doing anything too physical for extended periods, which rules out like 70% of the jobs available.
I don't want to play video games or read books all summer, I want to get out and be active, or actually doing something useful. Learning a new skill would be fantastic. Any suggestions?
Friends and I are trying to create a ladder for League of Legends 1v1s based on the elo rating system. I was wondering how we'd input the equation into excel and then have a list that automatically updates the ladder.
Alternatively I've found an elo calculator if we can't do the first part - I guess what we could do was use a third party elo calculator and then put them into an excel spreadsheet to save them. Is it possible to make a ranking list/ladder in excel that updates as I change the elos?
So the school holidays have only just started here meaning the movie only just got released.
A couple of things:
I foresee a massive jump in lego sales.
And damn, that was an awesome movie. So many awesome actors (Will Ferrell is my favourite man in the world, Chris Pratt is pretty up there as well). Very enjoyable movie, was good to bring out the inner child in me, although that tends to surface a bit too often.
Cops with guns. Our police officers don't carry weapons, so I can't help but notice that every officer I see is carrying a gun. Also, sheriffs and police officers. What's the difference?
National anthems before the start of sports games. That's weird to me, we don't sing national anthems unless it's an international fixture.
Thirdly, there's so many homeless people here. Like, a huge amount.
First off, squirrels are so fudgeing cool. Saw a couple in Vancouver, saw another today in Seattle. They're super cool. Like seriously.
Secondly, the way you guys watch films is so weird to me as a kiwi. Maybe it's just where I went to watch a movie, but I found it odd that you don't have allocated seats, you all talk up until the trailers start (here we mostly go silent as soon as we walk into the theatre/we whisper or talk very quietly otherwise), you get shizzlety seats to sit in (we practically get sofa chairs), and some of you clap at the end of the film. Plus at home, the theatres let us bring in food from the supermarket etc rather than forcing us to buy food inside.
And lastly, Seattle is a pretty cool city.
