An Idea

Adam?

Whenever I see my name nowadays, I become acutely aware of how hard it is to take someone with a "?" in their name seriously. I have no idea what compelled me to do it originally, but now it is just an eyesore. So, I have decided that I will change my long-held name of "Adam?" to something else. Something that reflects my high IQ and maturity.

Possible options are:

Sir Adamquestionmark

cogito ergo sum

President Elect Adam

Dexter_Morgna

I feel like any of the above would be a suitable replacement, but I would like to know what you, the heroes of Sal's Realm of Runescape, think. Does anyone have a suggestion or two? I'm willing to listen for a change. :aware:

Change it and I'm afraid I'll have to have you burn at the stake. The question mark is almost a way of life for some of us now. We've developed an entire religion around you and your question mark; think of all those virgin sacrifices we made, I'd hate to have to start all of those again around a new piece of punctuation. My stabbing hand is starting to go numb.

You call that deep?

That's hilarious.

I prefer multifaceted, but yea, deep works too.

Dear Adam?,

The staff would prefer it if you preserved the question mark at the end of your name. It would reflect a spirit of maturity and intrinsic, benign independence, and this is what we would like from all of our members. :)

I believe that I can briefly cite three reasons why you should not get rid of the question mark.

1. The time hole theory

I don't know if you have ever came across this in your readings, but the question mark was very revered in ancient Mayan and Aztec culture. You see, the question mark kept great philosophers on the plain of unknowing. This great plain is essentially what keeps time going (for what is time if we know what is to come. That is the mystery of time.). Getting rid of the question mark could unbalance the overall amount of question marks in the world, thus creating an imbalance in time. This will cause a great tear in the vast scheme of time (metaphorical or physically. If it was physically, it would have to be over NYC or Paris), destroying the entire world as we know it.

2. The Wraths of Hell

This is a legend coming from the days of Colonial America, sometime after The Salem Witch Trials. The story says that an embodiment of evil once infested the minds of multiple Colonist and stayed dormant inside them. The people affected by this curse cut question marks into fields of tobacco and other assortments of crops, almost like an obsession. When someone attempted to fill in these question marks, they were murdered by the people infested by the evil spirits.

Getting rid of your question mark might kill you or anyone on this forum!

3. Gigantic plop of guts going all over the place

Lack of a good name, sorry. Simply, getting rid of the question mark in your name will quite possibly create multiple enemies who feel that they know too much about you now. The ? kept them in unknowing, and therefore constant fear.

They would most likely cut out your insides, creating a gigantic plop of guts going all over the place.

Although these three reasons are rooted in culture and legends (and pure deductive reasoning, based on the last one), there is an extremely high chance that any of these could happen. I beg of you, Adam?, please do not do this!

The question mark suggests a question in hand but alas it isn't just a mere expression.
