Stuff

I haven't had much chance to play Runescape over the past few days. :( Today, I had to drive all the way to Bristol for a road safety awareness class, after I got caught speeding there in June. That meant that I had to cover work over the weekend. Then the Mexicans went and had a war of independence 200 years ago. I thought I'd write a series of blogs telling the stories of the 14 main heroes (including one heroine) that are usually buried under the Angel of Independence statue. Unfotunately that takes a lot of research (and trying to work out what google translate is garbling from Spanish language websites). It's taking me an average of 6-8 hours per blog, then normal real life happening on top. I don't know how I used to fit Runescape in, when I habitually worked full time. >.>

But it's worth it! Today should have been all miserable, given that I was travelling for hours without it being a holiday. Instead it's been great! The class was in a stately home, built in 1711! I had a good explore of the building. Oh yes! Then, in a service station waiting out the rush hour, I logged on to the internet, using my notebook and found some amazing things.

First off, congratulations Kitt Fox on 99 Construction! Woot!

Secondly, for the first time ever, my Endless Tours blog had over 100 visitors in one day. Best of all, it was Sunday, when I wasn't even working on it. In short, none of those hits were me. :(

Then I nipped onto Grand Exchange Central. I was seriously cringing here, because I'd sodded off on holiday, during the last week in August, without setting up my mock GE to cope with my prolonged absense. I'd been scared to check it since. I figured that everything had dropped and I was now bankrupt. The first thing I noticed was that I'd gained millions of mock gp. The second thing I found was that only two of my bids had fallen, but they were now on the rise again. Then I saw that I had a private message. It was from the site's owner, the lovely Absenm, and it had been sent on my birthday. He wanted to thank me for bigging up his site on my blog, which he'd read, as well as wishing me a happy birthday. *waves to Absenm* Here's another bigging up! He said some other stuff too, which had me happy blushing all over the service station.

My notebook can't really cope with my usual sites, so with blogs read and Mock GE checked, I randomly searched Google for my name. I haven't done that for ages. I was a bit surprised to find that there are 20 search pages worth of lists of links mentioning 'Merch Gwyar'. The vast majority are other Runescape bloggers talking about me. (You know who you are. :() But then I found something which made me laugh out loud! Service stations really aren't the place to get the giggles, especially not when you're on your own. Service stations are like voids in time and space, where all of the people look like zombies and reality feels like it's happening somewhere else. People with the giggles disrupt everything. They make other people look at them and mutter darkly about Care in the Community initiatives.

The thing that I'd just discovered was Sal's Wiki, where there is apparently now a whole page devoted to me. Sal's Wiki: Merch Gwyar. Thank you to IP address 76.8.162.186 and Wayne brady, for giving me the giggles in a Gloucestershire service station. :(
