I'm level 86 range. I own full void and full black dhide.

Karl

Karil

Other than that really useful reason to have Karil's armour set, can anyone make a case for me keeping it? I've got my eye on the 7.1m that I could have by selling it.

Karl is awesome, so is Karil, Karil's armour is really good to be honest, as it is higher defence, I would have it over D'hide, though if the money is important, you know what to do with it :) also this blog made me LOL

the hood and the bow itself serve no real purpose, if you train while using slayer that is (like me)

but even me only bought that last week, first time I ever had it (for non merchanting purposes or drop)

Best mage defense, with decent range defense for leather armour. (top and skirt that is)

Or am I wrong?

Top and bottom are the best magic defense gear for meleers. Useful for waterfiends, aquanites, and other monsters where you use melee and need magic defense.

The top and skirt are the best choice when fighting waterfiends (and if you're serious about high level summoning, you'll be spending a lot of time at the waterfiends - your weekly 'familiarisation' 40 minutes of triple charms is best spent there). I've got those two, but haven't bothered with the other parts of the set.

The reason they are so good at waterfiends it that you need to defend against a mix of 2 different attack styles. Praying deflect range deals with range, wearing Karils top and skirt soaks up enough of the mage to make things bearable.

I'd honestly say that dhide, which is like -10 magic defence, is better (in terms of cost-effectiveness). 8m for karils is just not worth it. And dhide is the same range bonus (if not better) than karils.

You can get by in your RS career without ever using/wearing Karil's set. I bought and wore it once to fight aquanites and still got ripped up from their attacks, so so much for the lauded magical defense. :P Black dhide will serve you quite well without the worry of losing it if you die.

If it's just sitting in your bank and you don't use it, just sell it and use that money on something you'll really use.

Thank you all for your input here. I'm not convinced, at the moment, to keep it, as I'm not a PKer. I've fought aquanites very well wearing black dhide. Though the waterfiend point is giving me pause.

That said, do I want to risk 7.1m worth of equipment on waterfiends, when they pwnt me at our last meeting?

Sell it, magic defense is far easier to obtain from dragon hides, plus they don't degrade, and you don't seem to do many activities where you need mage def, whereas a deamon throne is for life!
