Dimos' Castle Project, part 1 - Beginning of Planning
Well, I've decided to start a huge project on my single-player minecraft world (ok, not my main one - I made a new world for this). Being the person I am, I am going to just build a giant castle. Unlike all my other building projects, I'm actually planning this one out (as opposed to the improv-building I usually do) - I'll post some of my floor plans and concept sketches once I figure out my stupid scanner.
Roughly the size will be about 450x450 - vertically I'm not sure yet. I'm just focusing on the walls/elevated pathways to the center, and I'll fill in the keep/other buildings at a later date (June 23, 2037). I'm going to kinda cheat and use MC edit to copy a lot of the wall sections, as it is a symmetric design. On the actual world, what I have gotten to today is just zoning out some of the land for the outer walls/towers.
First off, the blue things mark sections of 20x20 land and have no relevance otherwise. The purple lines denote the smaller, lower, outer wall, which will connect directly with the corner towers (orange). The much higher and large middle wall (green), connects mainly with the main wall garrisons/fortresses (yellow), as well as the gatehouses (not plotted yet). Now I am going to finish off plotting off the garrisons and plot the main gatehouses and thrust walkways off of them.
Once that is complete, I'll figure out MC edit a bit more (if someone could point me to a good tutorial, that would be helpful) and copy the plans to all 4 quarters of the castle. Then I'll mark out the inner pathways/wall as well as the canals. Once that is finished, I'll start to work on the main towers and outer portions of the garrisons and work my way in. This will take a while - but I need a project to last me a good deal of time here. :P
