Last week was the weirdest week of my life. I've never had such strange interactions with things I couldn't explain. I'm not sure if it was just my imagination playing tricks on me or if I was dreaming or if all this stuff actually happened. I don't really know if I have anyone that I can tell what has been happening to me other than you guys. I know you guys won't judge me too harshly and blow this stuff off like my family and friends would do, so I come to you guys to see if you guys can help me make sense of everything that has been going on.
So over a month and a half ago I moved into my dorm on campus at my college. The dorm is set up apartment style and is reserved for students with 30+ hours, so it is a little nicer than the other dorms on campus. This place that I'm living in is still very old though. One of my fathers friends told my father that he lived in the same building as I am when he was in college, in the 1972. So this building is at least 40 years old and the plan on campus is to renovate this place in 2015. But back to my story. I live in my apartment on the 13th floor of my building with three other undergraduate students. My roommate who shares the same bedroom with me is one of my best friends who I've known since the 3rd grade. The room we share is very small, gray walls, two small closet spaces, and two twin beds. Nothing interesting at all. The beds are on opposite sides of the room but since the room is very small we are both relatively close to each other.
The first night that I stayed in my room was awkward to me. Knowing that I'd be living in this place for the rest of the school year with my friend was a little unnerving, not because I didn't like my friend but because the room was so tiny and the walls to gray. After all these thoughts go through my head that night I finally fell asleep. I consider myself a hard sleeper, it takes a lot to wake me up once I have hit my deepest point of sleep. But that night I did wake up to a noise. As I was sleeping, a loud "pop" came from my bed. Loud enough to wake me and my friend up. It was a fairly strange sound coming from a bed, but I ignored it and went back to sleep. The next morning I asked my friend if he remember my bed popping and he said "yeah I heard that but I thought you had knocked the lamp off the bedside table", we both laughed and thought nothing else about it for the rest of the day. I knew that the way he described the sound was weird, because the popping noise of an old bed and the sound of a lamp falling off a table sounds pretty different. This "pop" noise didn't stop after the first night either. The "pop" came back every night for two weeks, each time waking my friend and I. But finally, the "pop" noise ceased and we have not been awoken by such a noise since.
So about a month of classes go by and I start to get into a routine for every day. I have earlier classes on most days of the week so I wake up around 8:00 A.M. everyday, shower and get dressed in 30-45 minutes, and then walk with my friend who lives one floor above me on the 14th floor to our first class that we have together. We did this for over a month and everything was fine. We both enjoyed our walks to our class on the other side of campus. The talks about sporting events that happened the day before or what happened at our jobs helped both of us wake up before our classes. So last week my friend text me and told me that he was going to skip our first class together and sleep in. I told him that was fine and that it wasn't a big deal and to enjoy his extra sleep. The next morning I woke up, showered and got dressed, got my things together and began to leave my room at 8:35. This is when things started to get weird.
I walked out of my room and turned to lock the front door and then turned down the hallway towards the elevator. Standing in front of the elevator was this older woman, probably in her 60s or 70s, waiting for an elevator. The building I stay in is co-ed but my floor is a male only floor and all females are required to have an escort. My first thought was "This sweet old lady has come to visit her grandkids" but the more I thought about it the more it didn't make sense. Why doesn't this lady have an escort? I mean, not everyone actually follows the escort rule but you would think that if she was coming to visit a relative of hers they would have at least walked her out of the building. Then I thought "why would an old lady come visit her college aged relative at 8:35 A.M.?" But regardless of why she was there, she was there. I walked up to the elevators and stood there and waited for a while and no elevators came to the floor. I looked around to only find out the old lady never pushed the button to call for an elevator. I walked up and pushed the button and then looked at the woman who was just standing and staring at the closed elevator door. She was dressed in all white and had shoulder length wavy white hair, and she just stared. Finally the elevator doors opened and we both got on the empty elevator. I pressed the floor 1 button while she boarded the elevator and walks to a corner and begins to stare again. I ask her what floor she is going to and she mumbles "One" and continues to stare. The elevator door closes and starts to go down and an unnerving feeling rushes through my body. I don't know exactly how to explain the feeling I got I just knew that I needed to get out of the elevator. I decide that instead of riding the elevator down 13 floors I'd get off at floor 8 and walk down the stairs. As I go to push the button her gaze quickly changes into my eyes. I looked directly into her eyes and see her deep black eyes. Everything turned black and I could not move. I blacked out.
All of a sudden I woke up to the loud sound of a horn from a train. I quickly jumped up and gasped for air and I look around to find that I am laying by a fence next to the train depot station less than a mile away from my building. I was so confused and could not remember how I got there. I went to grab my cell phone out of my pocket to check the time. It was 8:00 A.M.. I sat there stunned. I knew I remembered getting up and getting ready that day, I was even wearing the clothes that I had put on, none of it made sense. I was so frightened that I got up and ran back to my building, up the stairs, and into my room. I sat there and the image of the old woman's eyes kept running through my head. It was the most terrified I have ever been in my life.
The next few days things started to get worse. My bed began to make the "pop" noise at night again. When I was alone in my apartment I heard counters open and close and knocking on the walls and from the ceiling. I didn't know what to make of it other than maybe it was just my mind playing tricks on me after I had been so frightened. Maybe I was becoming sensitive to noises that I would have ignored before my encounter with the old woman. I wasn't sure what exactly it was, I just knew that something was going on.
Yesterday I was eating with a group of my friends in one of the dining halls. It was around dinner time and we had all just got done playing basketball together. We decided to grab some food before returning to our respective rooms to start our studying. I got my food from the line and began to walk towards the table that my friends were sitting at. I sat down and began to eat just like any normal person would. My friend sitting across the table asked me a question and I looked up to respond when I froze. I could not move or say a word. Terror flooded my body. Sitting three tables down from us was the old woman, sitting alone staring at me. I couldn't get a word out of my mouth and all I could see was her black eyes. My friends noticed that I was in shock and looked to try to see what I was seeing when I finally said "That woman!" and they all asked "What old woman?" and before I could point to her she vanished.
This was the last unexplainable encounter I have had in the last 24 hours. I have since not been alone in my apartment and have not slept at night. I don't know who this old woman is or why she keeps appearing to me. I don't know how to explain how I ended up at the train tracks that morning. All of this is just overwhelming. I don't know what to do so I'm asking for advice from you guys. I can post pictures of my room, the train tracks, the elevators, any of that but I'd rather not say the building I live in for my own personal safety.
