Is it really that much? I mean that's not even five hours a day assuming you don't have classes on Saturday. Or do you have massive amounts of work to do outside of the lessons?

What's the tutoring like? Is it for students currently going there, or is it something more local?

It's doable, but now I have to balance lab reports, papers, homework, quizzes tests etc on top of working in free time (sure only comes down to three hours a day). All work and no play makes FREEDOM a dull boy.

Tutoring is mainly just for helping out freshmen, it's what we have here since a lot of people aren't used to it.

I'm tutoring intro to engineering Chem (107 and 117), pre calc and calc 1, so hey they're pretty easy. I'd just rather not work at the end of a 8 hours school day, then have to do homework and stuff after that. Not good for ya mental health, I tell you hwat.

Oh I also learned O Canada! And the star spangled banner on my harmonica, I'm gonna play the latter on 9/11.

Reminds me of that Top Gear Vietnam episode, where the backup bike for those who couldn't keep theirs in working order was a stars-and-stripes decorated one, blaring "Born in the USA" over and over. :P

But really, with Qatar supporting Syrian rebels, and the US on the verge of a missile strike, are you worried? How are tensions there?

I thought the US was going to support the Syrian rebels with a well placed missile.

Egghe it's a pretty full schedule, idk if the schools in your area work on a different schedule, but that's 15 in class hours (doesn't include labs) and doesn't include outside time used for reading/writing/homework/school stuff. 18 hours (if I were to take one more class) is usually considered a death wish in engineering.

It's doable, but I think hobbies are pretty important, too.

Yeah. I was worried about a backlash against the US, its allies, and US citizens in the area.

That's about average for sophomores and juniors where I went to college. Was fairly commonplace for juniors and seniors to work 20 hours a week and take 17 to 19 hours. As I said, welcome to the real world.

Must have had some easy early years then, my brother did a 4 year nuke engineering degree and only had one 19 hour semester.

I think I'll be okay, though. I feel pretty safe here and it's not like most of the people I meet are Qatari. I guess we'll see, if I don't post back in a couple days, assume my head has been severed.

I don't think double majors is a great example of the "real world". ;_;

Nobody is even talking about it haha, not from what I've heard at least. Only the Americans are really talking about it a bit.

I haven't seen any news stuff I don't speak Arabic so I can't watch anything local, best I get is BBC Europe and Bloomberg Europe.
