Something I've Been Considering

I have been trying to get myself to play RS lately, but I just haven't had the drive to. Before, I had my log to keep me going, but really that section has died, and the forums themselves really aren't much of an incentive for me to play. So thinking about other things I could do, I've come across something I've thought about before.

If you look on YouTube, there are no good Runescape Let's Plays (that are still active). Those that do/have existed were either poorly done or just didn't last very long. This isn't necessarily the fault of the LP'er - let's be honest - much of the Runescape experience isn't that riveting to watch, and often these LP's focus on the wrong things and die out.

Now, another thing that really is missing that I haven't been able to find (outside of the pages on the Wiki) is a good source of the lore in Runescape. I think Runescape has some of the best lore of any game I've played, but most of the playerbase knows quite little about most of it (this could probably be said for most MMORPGs also). Without being a complete quest nut who remembers everything about everything, there really isn't a good way to learn about the lore of Runescape (beyond scouring pages and pages of the wiki - which isn't the thing for a lot of people).

What I have been thinking about doing fills both those gaps in the community - a lore-focused Let's Play of Runescape. I'd focus on the questing and the overarching world of Gielinor, while cutting a lot of the 'boring' content that people don't want to see (training, running around, etc.). I (think I) know a good deal about the lore, and would be able to provide a cohesive commentary on the storylines of quests and linking things together. I'd try to do quest lines consecutively, to provide adequate continuity for the viewers (and if I cannot - I can always link back to the episodes where I did the previous quests). And also people would get to laugh at my attempts to come up with different voices for all the characters.

This this would NOT be:

-A traditional LP that just shows me working on my account;

-A vlog of my progress on training my account;

-Walkthroughs of the quests or the game - there are enough of those out there.

What it would be:

-Going through the quests, almost like a story, with added commentary on how things, places, and people fit into the larger context of Geilinor;

-A fresh, new character;

-Free of the 'boring' or repetitive elements of the game (although I would touch on what I've done if there were any major training sessions from episode to episode).

So what do people think about this? Is it stupid, or do you think people would actually be interested in this? I might try it out for a few dozen episodes to see how it goes and see how long it goes from there.

Sounds pretty fun. Lore is what keeps me drawn to the game. I hope that whenever runescape does end, all the planned lore and stories will be made known.

Sounds interesting, maybe wait for the full release of RS3 and take advantage of some shiny new graphics (and multiple characters with members on one account :P)
