Running and Ball

So I've gotten into running. We did the 12 min run at school and I got 6 laps (2.4km) which is above average.

I was just going to run 12 min runs everyday but my friend said thats a bad idea. Do you guys have a plan I can use that help me improve my running.

Also does doing pushups/situps/burpees make you lose weight cause I want to do those but I don't want to lose weight. How many of those should I do?

And since I'm pretty good at ball but want to get better and stuff. I'm pretty small so if I get fouled I can't ever finish. I don't really want to get buff though.

Any ideas?

I think its called the Fibula. It hurts when I touch it so it makes running way harder...

Do a quick run in the morning before you eat breakfast. Start out at 12 minutes but don't keep it there if you want to get good. Eventually you should do at least 30 minutes 5 days a week to have a somewhat good running schedule.

It depends how big your aspirations are.

30 mins but how much distance should it be?

I think five miles every other day is a good run, I try to aim for at least that. You might need to work out to prevent yourself from losing weight if you do that though. I don't really count miles, just time. Distance is harder to keep track of if you're running on a road or something.

If you want to keep track of distance but you're running on a street which has no distance markings get a pedometer.

As for pace, 6 miles/hour is good enough. Pretty standard marathon pace. It's a slow run basically. If you do 30 minutes a day it's 3 miles.

OK i can do like 2.8km on the track in 15 mins. I get really tired though.

Do you guys stop when you run?

And yeah I gained 20 pounds (from 120 to 140) but I'm reallly skinny (and like almost 6 feet) so how do I not lose weight.

You mean take a breather? I don't, but when you are starting and you are pretty tired you may have to. I think I may have taken breathers every fifteen minutes or so starting out. Just remember that you shouldn't be taking breathers every other minute. If you are, run slower and gradually pick it up over the course of a few days. Also, you should ideally stop taking breathers eventually.

I can't help you with the weight thing except telling you to eat a lot. You can probably calculate how many calories you burn using a calculator on the internet. Just google it. Make diet adjustments from there. It's not a big deal though. It appears your issue isn't losing weight and running it's gaining muscle and running. I'm afraid I can't give you good advice on that.

Also, if you are serious about continue running I would suggest joining some running club/team, if not now then in college (assuming you go). It should be easier to keep running if you know people who do so as well.

I am about your same height and weight and yeah it's not easy running and gaining muscle (especially upper body). At this point you don't seem to be running more than three hours a week though so it shouldn't really hamper your weight gain.

Aight makes sense.

I dunno if I want to gain muscle though. Its just taht I don't want to lose weight.

I do eat quite a bit.

How long should I run?

If you're trying not to get bullied when you play ball, the best thing to do would be to put on some weight/bulk up. :P Or become a master of aerodynamics so you can contort your body.

Yeah by being bullied I mean not pushed around... I can dribble/shoot but a slight push and I'll go flying.

Plus fasting month is coming which means Ima lose weight for sure
