Question About A Virus
-_Atrophee_- replied to -_Atrophee_-'s topic in Technology: Discussion and Help
Will update once I've run the suggested scans. However, I was wondering colt if you knew what virus / virus' have infected the HD? This happened yesterday out of the blue, so I'm slightly miffed as to the cause. Edit incoming upon tests. EDIT: Just looked at the Combofix.exe details on the web: o.o This seems fairly risky considering I'm not one of said trained professionals. But I'm gonna go with what you say colt, due to the fact that it says it removes Smitfraud + variants, so I'm down to use it. I've taken down the Smitfraud virus on my laptop once before, using the Smitfraudfix.zip file, so I know the capabilities of the virus. Thanks for all your help colt, will report back with plenty of logs for you. Malwarebytes' log. HJT! log -
Question About A Virus
-_Atrophee_- replied to -_Atrophee_-'s topic in Technology: Discussion and Help
Ran AVG scan through the night, 94 infections found / healed, 30 spyware found / healed, and yet i'm still getting my desktop background changed. I haven't had any fake windows notifications since the scan and restart, but i have gotten a popup. Installed HJT; log below. Spybot is now running again in regular mode, and I think I may have some sort of clue as to what it is that's messing with my computer. I'll post a link to a screen in and edit. HJT Log: Here's the screen; spoiler'd iso that it doesn't take up so much space. -
Question About A Virus
-_Atrophee_- replied to -_Atrophee_-'s topic in Technology: Discussion and Help
Well, I have AVG Free, Spybot S&D right now will download Avast! and Adaware. As of right now, had to run spybot in safe mode took care of everything except something called webHance; due to it's location being in the program files directory (although i never installed such a program). Went in to manually delete the program folder since the program didn't show up in Add /remove, only one file can't be deleted; a .dll that i've never seen before. Still getting fake spyware messages from the task tray, logon took around 4 minutes to load up. We'll seee. Thanks again, will report back in the morning with updates. Atro -
Does anyone know of a virus that changes your desktop background to say things like Your computer is at risk, several fatal errors have occured due to spyware activity and click here to correct them. More information: Popups, unable to open task manager practically freezes the entire computer, unable to install programs etc any help would be greatly appreciated; faster help is appreciated more. Thanks, atro

I'm wondering if anyone can find me the original picture for this. I've been looking for ages, but even after extensive googling I have yet to find the picture. =( Got it off of a forum website, forum no longer exists. Thanks, Atro

Seagate Desktop External
-_Atrophee_- replied to -_Atrophee_-'s topic in Technology: Discussion and Help
Model Number coming in edit. This started happening about a week ago. It hasn't been moved or touched in any way, so I'm skeptic about any true hardware malfunctions with it. I just wonder why there are no drivers for it all of the sudden, when it has worked before. EDIT: Model number -- ST302504FDA1E1-RK -
So I own a Seagate External and lately it is not being recognized as an external by my computer. It hooks up by USB, and when plugged in the Device Manager describes it as "Unknown Device" and tells me there are no drivers installed for the device. I have tried all I can to find drivers from Seagate's website, and from other websites claiming to have all drivers for Seagate products, to no avail. If anyone can help me out by telling me either a) Where to get the proper drivers, if there even are any b) if not, is there any way to make my computer recognize the hard drive? Thanks, Atro

Sorry, haven't logged on to Sal's in a while, changed my WoW character name from Volas to Atrophee, but nowadays you'll find me on Forix sooner than on Atrophee. If you want, put both.

LMAO that was full of win. BEYOND win. On a completely different note; I have no form of WoW on any computer in my house. DAMN YOU BSOD!!! DAMMMMNN YOUUUUUUUUU! Not only am I WoWless, my dsc 3, and my best friends disc 3 (ironically) are both unreadable. Needless to say, I am trying to figure out some hax way of getting WoW back on my computer through download. I doubt I will be successful.

Overall: 6/10 Originality: Meh, 5/10. I like that background. Style: 7/10. Background is getting points as well as the sort of stairstep corners. Not liking that silver theme though. Neatness:8/10. Clickeh. Objectdock/RKlauncher FTW. -
Need Defination For A Word And What It Does...
-_Atrophee_- replied to _siN's topic in Technology: Discussion and Help
In a way, yes. However, if you have a poor video card your FPS will be invariably low. Low FPS means delay between action performed, and you actually seeing that action. Say you play WoW. You're in Stormwind. Lots of people. You jump, and get stuck. FPS is at 2.7 or something around there. It will seem like you take a while to get down due to the low frames per second. But with the processor, it makes the game run faster. So really it all depends on what type of lag you're talking about. Lag between you pressing a button and the computer registering and executing, or lag between the latter and the time you see it happen. -
Microsoft Bids On Yahoo
-_Atrophee_- replied to R Anderson's topic in Technology: Discussion and Help
With Microsoft's falling stocks, they can't even make good on their offer of half share half cash. It's only worth 41.8B according to http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7237320.stm"" target="blank" class="ext-link" title="External Site: http://"%20 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7237320.stm"">this website. I doubt they'll be offering the 40$ that Yahoo! wants. Yahoo! could possibly receive some huge benefits from Google now. we shall seee. -
Looking for something that ISN'T a trial download that has the power to change the icons of any .exe or folder. Icon Changer works but it's only a trial with a limit of 3 icon changes. Icon Folder Change doesn't work with .exe's Halp?
