Why would you want to feel all grown up? :P
I swear nothing terrifies me more than that. I hate knowing I'm dangerously close to the point being childish will stop being an option, and I already feel the energy and the motivation to keep my kid-self disappearing. It's so sad. :(

That's because people always expect more and better from every Fallout. Everyone gets an erection over New Vegas and 3, who are inferior to 4. The only reason it has such a poor rating is the fact the fanbase feels they haven't improved it enough.
In short it's great, but ended up being a disappointment because everyone expected it to be even better. Still Skyrim tier game right there.

You haven't ruined your chances at all. It's unfortunate you didn't do too well during that semester, but it happens to plenty of people more often than you'd think for a multitude of reasons. Just keep at it and work towards improving your grades, and you'll get there sooner than later I'm sure. Negativity will do more damage to you than anything else, keep a positive attitude and believe you can do it and things will start improving really quick.
