      Thank you for responding Egghebrecht.

I've been busy and haven't been on much.

I haven't talked to my neighbor recently, but it seems he got it sorted out at least alittle, as I saw he was doing Artisan's workshop last time I talked to him.

  3. At the end of last summer, I bought a new laptop. It's running Windows 8.1, with a quad-core i7 4870HQ processor, 32gb RAM, and the Nvidia GEForce GTX980M. As of a couple days ago, the driver on my graphics card started to crash, I haven't had any problems until now, and haven't made any changes to the graphics card or the drivers. I checked the temperatures, and the temperature is at 40 degrees. It happens at random times, sometimes when I start up the computer, and sometimes when I am using the computer. The driver is on 348.01. I was wondering what could cause this problem, and how can I fix it?

  5. So I just recently got a 4tb WD harddrive, and wish to create a system image backup of my new computer, or at least the c: drive. However, it won't let me create the backup using the option in the File History window, because of the EFI system Partition that is attached to the c drive (meaning I can't even delete the partition, without deleting the whole drive, which isn't possible since the C drive is on that drive. I find it odd that Microsoft would include this feature, but then make it unable to use. I was wondering if anybody here knew of any workarounds for this, or of a way to create a system image backup.
  6. So, my parents want to get me a gift, and atm, the only thing I can think of that I would want is another SSD to put in my laptop, but I was wondering how to find out, without opening up my computer, if I have any unused slots to add in a SSD. I currently have a 500gb SSD (which is nearly full, as I have my OS and programs installed on it), and a 1TB HDD installed. I'm using the HDD for entertainment things, like music and movies, and want to keep the SSD for OS, and necessities. So, I'm looking at hopefully being able to install another SSD in my computer, for more space for programs, and such, to use in the future. Here's a link to the laptop I have

Pretty much my life right now..

My problem is that I've never had people there for me. My dad's family doesn't socialize, my mom's family is just so full of drama, it's hard to talk to them without them talking behind your back. And my friends always leave me. My group of friends from high school, that I grew up with, stopped talking to me, or blocked me, 3 of my group of friends from my first college stopped talking/ responding to me. So my most recent group of friends have been my coworkers, who used to all try to make sure they worked with me when i came home from college. Now they don't even answer texts. Of my remaining best friends, 1 is too busy since she works full time, and is the only source of income for her family, and when she isn't at work, she is trying to do housework for people for extra money, or doing her own housework. Another one is busy with college and a factory job. Third one is busy with her first year of college, and 2 jobs, and I'm kinda giving her space, since I feel I annoyed her (she rejected me a little while ago), and now she's dating our coworker. When I do text her, she doesn't respond back, but she has told at least 3 others, as well as her family, that I'm one of her best friends. And finally, the 4th one insisted she would text me every day when I was at college, and she would vid chat with me every week, and she cried when I left for college, because she would miss me. She barely texts me, even if I text first. She has texted maybe 3 times in the last 2 months I've been at college.
  9. Meh, tbh, I don't really care for McDonalds. I like their sweet tea..and their wraps aren't bad..but the only food I get there is usually a mcchicken, because it's a dollar. Otherwise, I will literally take any other fast food, whether Burger King, Dairy Queen, Taco Bell, or Wendy's.
  10. So basically, my computer has started to slow down, and the battery died (I did get another battery though), and I was thinking, I wanted to upgrade my laptop, but with the parts I was looking for, I was told I might as well buy a new laptop. Right now, there are 2 I am looking at on Newegg, and I'm going to a local PC shop to check his prices and what he offers. I basically will keep my current laptop as a backup. But here are the laptops I'm looking at now: ASUS MSI I'm leaning towards the Asus, because I have always heard good things about Asus, where as I have barely heard anything at all about MSI. But I wanted to hear your guys' opinions.
  11. So I recently bought a new computer, and noticed that my internet on it keeps disconnecting. This isn't happening on my phone, iPad, or my other laptop. I've tried restarting the computer, disconnecting from the wifi and reconnecting, and updating the drivers in my laptop, none of which have worked. I was wondering if you guys knew anyways to fix the problem?

    Wifi cutting in and out?

I didn't think the router was the issue, since none of the other devices had the problem. But the problem seems to have stopped now..(idk what fixed it, but haven't been dcing from the internet). My router is old though, I'm using the family router which we've had for probably 10 years. (the only issue with it is the signal doesn't go very far, only 2 rooms over from where it's at in the house (I'm within the 2 rooms over)). I have a personal router, but I never really set it up when I came home from college. My parents are looking into getting a new router soon, but I knew the issue was with my laptop, since my other laptop, my iPad, and my phone didn't have any problems with the wifi. My dad just got a new laptop yesterday and he had the same problems with his new laptop, but not with his old laptop or his phone.

    Wifi cutting in and out?

Nope, already did all the updates I could find, including the Intel driver for the wireless card. My laptop is running Windows 8.1 if that helps.

    Choosing a laptop.

Can you not buy a desk and put in your own room? :P No room in my room at my parent's house for a desk, and my room at my apartment has a desk, but the foot stand on the desk is too flimsy/small to hold a tower, and I don't like the idea of the tower sitting on carpet. Plus when I come home on the weekends, it would be more troublesome to transport than a laptop. the asus laptop you are linking is hardly a laptop, it's more an all in one desktop... 17.3" is huuuuge for a laptop and it's bloody expensive and i don't get why really the screen is low to mediocore it only being a full HD screen (I replaced my HD screen for a 5k one recently) the fact that it has an ssd HD is good but that one is much too big, there is no point in having 512GB SSD and 1TB normal hard disk, 128GB SDD is more than enough... that is waste of money because that shizzle is expensive So try to see if you can reduce that at least since it really is wasted money and I see it is exactly the same for the other laptop same kind of low resolution screen and rediculously big SSD drive so if you really want a laptop both options seem fine to me but you will get a shizzlety screen and a cumbersome heavyweigth which you'll never take with you 4/5k screens aren't exactly cheap; the laptops I found with the specs I want and that kind of resolution were roughly $500 more. And for right now, 4k is ahead of it's time still. In the future, I do hope to get a 4k screen, but right now, I don't feel I want/need it badly enough. I haven't really looked at other sites other than Newegg, but on Newegg, those computers are the only ones available with the specs I want.. I didn't put the ssd size in..but I do want the SSD.

    Choosing a laptop.

That is pretty subjective. My stepbrother had an ASUS gaming PC and his hardware got fried 3 times in 2 years because of awful design. Every single laptop brand tend to have awful cooling implemented, and if you intend to use a laptop as a desktop for continued and intensive use, you should get a cooling pad which solves that issue outright. or get a mac if you keep your old laptop you might want to see if you aren't better off with a desktop instead only buy a laptop if you need everything everywhere for the rest tablets and even smartphones became much more efficient if you need it in calss then a laptop is a good idea but that doesn't have to be the newest thing possible, it's just for word and interent after all... and your old one already covers that base perfectly /me never ever understood why people prefer laptops but never take them outside their home... As I stated already, I don't have the room for a desktop right now. Trust me, if I could, I would. But I still have another 2 years of college left, meaning 2 more years in my apartment or my parent's house on break, and neither of those has a spot for a desktop (the only spot available for a desktop at my parent's is occupied already by their desktop)

    Choosing a laptop.

Thanks everyone for your input. This Friday I'm going to a computer shop that my family goes to, to price what they will charge for a laptop of similar build. But chances are, I will be choosing one of these 2. But as for the prices, what do you guys think of the pricing for the computers, as far as specs goes? Just wondering, what's wrong with their cooling?
  19. chaosor

    Choosing a laptop.

Thanks. Yeah the small price difference and the higher specs are why I am considering it. This is a pretty stupid idea. It is basically saying you would pick an Apple phone over an Android-based phone, simply because of brand recognition and popularity. The real question is: What are you looking for in a laptop? Pure hardware performance? Layout of keyboard? Cooling design? There are a ton of different variables you should consider, and quite frankly going by brand recognition alone is generally a bad idea. I would strongly recommend you to go to r/SuggestALaptop, fill out their question form and make a post about it. Basically, the form you fill out is to make you consider what you want in your laptop, and what elements and factors are important for you. That said, I am pretty damn pleased with my MSI GE72 2QF. The thing packs a lot of power for the price I paid, not to mention I love the cooling design on it. The only thing that took some getting used to was the keyboard layout of the integrated Steelseries keyboard, but other than that, I am more than pleased with it. I was looking at computers on newegg, and filled out the stuff I wanted. These 2 computers are the 2 that have everything I want, in my price range. I just mentioned the brand preference, because of the 2, idk which to go for, and that I don't know anything about MSI, but I've heard alot of Asus. It's a smart thing to do when buying products, especially technology. Yeah, maybe both computers have what I want, but if one company has a crappy reputation (errors in products, crappy customer service, false warranties, etc.), obviously I would want to go with the more reputable company, right? The reason I do this, is because I know some people who have ignored brand name, and bought just for the price and specs. Like my aunt and uncle bought a TV (I don't remember the brand, but I remembers it wasn't one of the big ones like LG or Samsung). less than a year later, their TV completely stopped working (it turned on, but no picture or sound). They ended up getting a TV from a reputable brand. In this case, I'm trying to decide between these 2 computers, and the MSI seems like a better choice based on the specs (but I'm not as knowledgeable about computer hardware as some of you are, which is why I'm asking), but I've barely heard anything about the company, even though they make seemingly great laptops (based on the looks of this computer and the overview page on another of their computers), which sparks my suspicion. But I've heard of Asus, and know they make good computers. Thanks for mentioning the cooling though. And I'm glad your MSI works well. I originally was thinking of this, but I've found reasons not to do this, even though I really want to. First off, the price of a desktop, a 1080p monitor, accessories, and netbook would run me the same, if not more money, and I don't have room for the tower at my parent's house or in my apartment. I currently use my laptop on the dining room table, and my parents don't want the tower on the carpet or on the table. And in my apartment, the "foot stand" on my desk is to small to support the tower, and I also don't want my laptop on the carpet. If I had the right kind of desk than it would definitely be an option. So I take it you would choose the Asus? I'll watch the youtube video you provided later, I'm on very choppy internet right now (it takes 5-10 minutes to load a 2 minute yt vid at 480p
  20. unfortunately, I'm not sure if there is much you can do. What was the other program you tried to use? I would try either using Format Factory, and converting it, or if the video file once worked, but doesn't now, see if Recuva can fix it by trying to restore the folder the video is in. These are the only 2 ways I have had any success in repairing mp4 files.
  21. hmm, my family is debating about switching to Time Warner Cable for TV and cable, and possibly phoneline. We don't really have prior experience with TWC.

That's what I'm seeing on the internet, and yet my dad is saying everybody at work loves TWC..I've pretty much been in my house since we have started debating whether to switch.

Basically, at the moment, our option seems to be stick with our local ISP, or switch to TWC.

We pay our local ISP $85 a month for 3/.5 mbps internet, and 100 cable channels. for $6 more a month, we would get 30/5 mbps internet, and 200+ cable channels, and at least a quarter...

    3. chaosor

of those channels would have hd versions

  22. Are new movies shown in theaters the day after they are released? I want to see Age of Ultron later in the day on May 1st, but the premier is Thursday at Midnight (I have class Friday morning so can't go)

I know it premiers on Thursday the 30th (even though the theater and Google say it comes out on the 1st. I'm just wondering if movies typically show the day after (or technically later that day for midnight releases) the premier. My brother made it sound like they don't but I don't understand why they wouldn't. I checked the movie theater site, and they haven't put anything up past the 30th.

    Suspicious of my butler

So if I grow a mustache, I could breathe underwater? Why hasn't anybody told me this before? Hmmm.. Not so sure now.. Ikr...I could kinda understand if the demon butler survived. But the normal butler? Thanks...I think? :P lol
  24. So we all know, whenever a crime happens to someone rich, it's always the butler. So I decided to bring him with me to my aquarium, thinking he would drown. That's when I discovered he could breathe underwater, seemingly naturally.
