  1. Funny, in that situation we had one of our biggest periods of growth. Weren't the 90s just magical? Couldn't've said it better myself. Also, saying that the current legislature is Republican is true in theory, but in practice this is a false statement. The Tea Party politicians are mavericks. Republican intransigence led to the market dives during that debt ceiling debate. From Jan 2009, to Jan 2010, the U.S. was still stuck in recession, so unemployment rate rose. When the recession ended, although it crept up and down, the general trend shows that the U.S. created jobs. Look at 1/11. Where are the jobs now? The economy was recovering before 2011. Now it's stagnant. Something happened at 1/11. I don't know, maybe you can tell me.
  2. I want to travel by bus, train or car from Paris to Bhutan.
  3. LBJ. He did what Kennedy couldn't do. The Kennedy family set a curse on the Democratic party and allowed for Reagan and Nixon to be elected. At least Carter wasn't Bush II.
  4. I don't think you deserve a good grade if you cite Wikipedia. Writing papers isn't about just finding evidence to support your thesis, it's about interpreting the evidence you find too. There are several databases that you can find with the help of your college library. I believe in Wikipedia as a source for information too. I'm sure you can get away with it in high school too if you cite some of Wikipedia's external citations.
  5. Because Bush did shizzle without the approval of Congress. Such as authorizing torture and the like. You can't use executive orders to pass a budget, buddy. And since when does torture have anything to do with this? You can't bring the government to the brink of shutdown or default. That's happened in only ONE situation. Democratic Executive, Republican Legislative.
  6. The argument is that if education would be privatized, the rates would be lowered, say like $1500 a kid. That's much more manageable for a family with 5 kids. However, that's not how it really works and ever worked. Luftey is saying that because he can afford to pay, he should have the taxes that he pays for school returned to him. What he doesn't know is that private schools aren't really private. The ones here at least takes $3000/child and charges another $16000 to the parent. In turn, they follow the curriculum that follow the state standards, so they're actually learning side by side. that what i was talking about earlier :P i said that not all private schools are 100% private Well, I'm glad that we're on the same page :(
  7. You'll notice it if it's fractured. It's that painful. Just see the doctor later.

  9. By the way, Alan Greenspan was influenced by Ayn Rand. He was wrong. He admitted he was wrong. Now he wants all of the bush tax cuts to expire. Go figure.
  10. Absolutely untrue. The lowest common denominator will always be the lowest common denominator, always. In the public education system, children have the choice of taking AP courses. They are split according to ability early on. I'm a product of the public education system and I am a product of the private education system. The same people are everywhere. It can be worse in private schools because students tend to fall back on their parents. This is my experience because I graduated from the most expensive private school in Canada's highest per capita income (richest) town. I do believe that I've been prepared, but if I look at other people, they struggle. I feel as though you're ignoring so many social and psychological aspects to your argument. For example, churches are big. Churches are small. According to Jon Meacham, his church is situated in arguably the most expensive piece of real state in America. There are churches that are breaking down. Do you get my point? If you're rich, you're not going to go to a church in the ghetto unless you're Mark Wahlberg. He's one man. Secondly, it's very hard to accept help from your own rather than a faceless institution like the government. Poor people are very proud people. At the end of the day, hard work is only a fraction of the pie. Life's also about the opportunities that you land. You have some valid points, but you're looking at only one side of the picture for both sides. You're looking at the positives for privatizing, and you're looking at the negatives for socializing. That's not fair. By the way, my private school was $18k at my last year (and that excludes the $4k that the school gets per child)

  12. I only have a Macbook Pro and 1 dead iPod Classic My house has 2 Macbook Pros, 1 dead iPod Classic, 1 alive iPod Classic, one iPod Touch, and an Apple TV for netflix. We were planning on getting an iMac, but we're going to wait till next year for the deals. $100 in the Mac App Store isn't as appealing as a free iPod.
  13. im pretty sure its the emxicans
  14. That's very incorrect because Democrats are in support of government spending and government meddling in economics. In fact, he's better than Democrats at personal freedom. Dozens of democrats voted in support of the PATRIOT act. He didn't. Russ Feingold, man what a guy.
  15. It either fluctuates between the 2001 or 2010 Honda Civic. I like the 2001 more though. Firstly, it's mine, and secondly, it's better on gas/accelerates faster/brakes are better.
