    Dawn's Rising

Norton woke up very early. But this was out of habit; he, unlike countless other soon-to-be-heroes of his time, didn't have a sixth sense which alerted him to danger. Perhaps people who experience such a thing have some sort of an emotional connection to their respective hometowns, one that causes something to stir deep within their beings when their homes are in danger? Norton felt no such connection to Virdenfall. Later on he would grimly note that he wished he'd overslept. Slowly, he rose from his makeshift bed in the barn loft (a wool blanket spread out on a mound of hay) and climbed down the ladder. He trudged past the pigs which still slept and opened the heavy barn doors, which gave him a view of the sleepy town of Virdenfall and the cliffs to the north. He saw a thick cloud of smoke rising from the village, which struck him as odd. It was only moments later that he heard the distant screams. For a moment, he just stood there, not knowing what to do. One thing Norton had in common with other adventurers-in-the-making, is that his curiousity often got the best of him. He began jogging towards the village, reaching a wooden bridge that led across the river, in a matter of ten minutes. Once he crossed it, his jog turned into a sprint. Since he'd awoken, twenty-five minutes earlier, the flames had engulfed more than half the village. And Norton found himself in a very bad situation. He was about to turn around and run back towards the bridge, to the south, when he saw a group of men turn around the corner of a building to the west. Norton was about to beacon to them, but they saw him before he could and unsheathed their weapons. Weapons! Norton immidiately ran between two stores in front of him and emerged into the street, looking around frantically for an escape route. He began running down said street until two more armed men crossed his path. He ducked into another alley and hid behind a crate. Behind him, he heard foosteps. Turning around, he saw one man walking down the street behind him. Norton was completely exposed, but by sheer luck the soldier in blue didn't see him. Said soldier was placing an arrow into his bow and taking aim in front of him, towards God knows what. Or who. Norton ran out of the alley and towards the bowman, tackling him. He raised a fist and out of the corner of his eye, to the left, saw three men staring at him in disbelief, their blades unsheathed. Norton ran to the right, towards another group of people who he hoped weren't soldiers.

    Don't Fall Off!

Sinamorae Sinamorae is the second-largest city in Masal, and the largest settlement not under the control of Myr. It is governened by the rich merchant class, and order is kept by hired mercenaries. Sinamorae exists as a first stop for merchants and soldiers coming in from Hasselbad or Kimbla heading to Myr. The city's economy rests on 'tourism.' The prominent mining industry is also capital to the existence of Sinamorae: The mountains surrounding the city, called Sinamorae's Shield, are rich in minerals. In the past, Hasselan and Myrian armies have tried to take the city, but to no avail. Invading forces who cross Sinamorae's Shield are subject to the wrath of Sinamorae's Eye, which is an enchanted mirror that reflects sunlight into a beam of energy powerful enough to melt steel. The distance separating Sinamorae's Shield from the city itself is great enough that invading armies don't have the time to cross the small desert during nightfall. Elsse The country of Elsse is located in the center of the mainland. For over ten years the country has been caught up in civil war. When King Dalef died, his five sons each claimed to be the rightful successor to the throne. Being quintuplets, each claims to be the eldest of the five. With the mother, father and all those who assisted in labour being dead, it's impossible to determine who is in fact the eldest son of the late king. The regent Marcus refuses to hand over power of the capital city of Trith, or endorse any of the five sons. All six major cities are at war with each-other, alliances are made and promptly broken, and all are ignoring the alarming issue of kilits attempting to build bridges. Trith was the capital of the former Kingdom of Elsse. The city is ruled by the regent and closest advisor of the late king, Marcus. It's the largest and most powerful city, but Marcus still cannot reconquer Elsse because the city is constantly under attack by the five others. Sengash is ruled by Ourm, who is rumored to be the cruelest of his five brothers. Rothryn is ruled by Jonathan, the only one of Dalef's sons who studied at the Wizard's Dome in Alexgilesonia-Haliphesus. The city is unique in that it has a spectacular wizard's tower which Dalef had built for his son Jonathan. Elereus is ruled by Farrel, the noblest and kindest of the quintuplets. Safyr is ruled by Ivan, who is batsh*t crazy. Several years ago he forbade the populace from speaking his name, ordering everyone to refer to him as 'Lord of the Apocalypse.' He hasn't bathed in years, and always wears with a bulky dragon mask and a toga. In his madness, he refuses to turn left, claiming that if he does he'll promptly be devoured by imps. Elra is ruled by Werner.

    Dawn's Rising

Name: Norton Gender: Male Age: 20 Hair color: black Eye color: brown General appearance: He's a very tall, very thin man, but by no means is he weak. His tallness and back-breaking farm-labouring makes him a man who can stand his ground in a brawl, but to say he didn't quite win the genetic lottery would be an understatement. Standing at 6'2'', he's quite a scary person to behold, and many have used the words "skeletal-looking" to describe him. His gaunt face adds to this. His only redeeming physical qualities are his thick, black hair and 'beautiful' eyes. He's otherwise not very attractive. Other: He's a farmhand, and not quite an amiable person. But he's not exactly mean.

Tirvae (Men) Vaentir (Gods) Aalfar (Elves) Melmar (Half-Elves) Gwenlar (Sky-kin) Ysilda Nsildir Ren The Vaentir created the immortal Aalfar on the continent of Ysilda. With their superior knowledge they created the Tirvae, fashioned out of clay and enslaved by their creators, against the strict instructions of the Vaentir whom the Aalfar worshipped. Displeased with the disobedience of their kin, some Aalfar left the ancient city of Nsildir. As punishment for their disobedience, the Aalfar saw their divine powers diminished and their gift of creation altogether removed. The Aalfar who obeyed the Vaentir's instructions, however, were granted further physical prowess and the bodies of eagles so they could leave Ysilda. They sought out the continent of Ren to the north. From that moment on they were known as the Gwenlar. The Vaentir also granted the Tirvae free will and a consciousness of their own, as well as bodies of flesh as opposed to clay. Freed from their bonds, many of the Tirvae followed the Gwenlar across the sea to Ren, but the few who remained bred with the Aalfar and their offspring, the Melmars, bore features from both races. These half-breeds were persecuted by the Aalfar and were driven to the eastern-most edges of Ysilda.

I was actually thinking of an RP based in an alternate 13th century Earth, if anyone's interested... :( To be honest, I'd like to see a medieval RP without the walls of text but that is realistic and original.

Teen Dies After Playing Choking Game

Ka-zing! But no seriously. I wouldn't say anything I've said in this topic to the family. I respect their loss. At the same time…seriously… I feel bad for the family too, but honestly their child was an idiot. It's sad but true. Peer pressure has a bigger influence on ones mind than you think. I'm not trying to excuse her stupidity but sometimes we just do things because our friends do as well, without thinking of the repercussions. So it's not just her who is stupid but all of her friends as well? I think he's saying that everyone is stupid at that age. You and I included. (And by stupid, more so lack of developed perceptions of consequence inherent with adolescence.) Idk, everyone who's just saying "wow what a stupid girl" could stand to empathize for a second rather than being so quick to judge. Plz tell me that you don't actually think being this retarded at age 15 is normal.. Something tells me she was high, even before she tightened a belt around her neck.. Im0, its a good thing she died.. Imagine the consequences if people like her breed.. It can be hard to feel sympathetic for someone who does something like this, but to wish for their death is pretty horrible. That's not really wishing the death penalty as it is sterility. Subtle difference. :( Saying it's a good thing she died?
