On Linux:

The first step is to take the actual screenshot. To do this, make sure the image you want is on your screen, and then press the "Print Screen" key. This key is usually located on the top-right section of your keyboard and may be shortened to "Prnt Scrn" or something similar. If you are using a laptop, you may have to press the "Fn" key also.

A screen like this should appear:

doxxr6.png

You can specify the folder where you want the image to be saved, its name, the extension (change what's after the period in the name) although it's better to use .png, you can also copy the screenshot to the clipboard instead of saving it.

When you have decided this, press the save button.

The picture should be in the folder you specified or in your clipboard. Anyhow, open Gimp and either open your picture or paste it. Your screen should look like this:

30ijhwn.png

Now select the part of the screenshot that you want to keep, do this by using the rectangle selection tool (top-left in the toolbox). After you've done this, go to the 'Layer' menu and choose the 'Adjust to selection' option from the drop down menu.

Now just save your image again and you're done!

Hey Ares, need help?

I don't really know what you're doing but before you upload a picture, if you are using paint, i would drag the little square on the bottom right hand side of the painting screen and drag it around the picture to make it fit better. This will make the white around the picture go away

A lot of people want to make their images transparent, but they do not know how and/or lack the knowledge/skills to work with a graphics program.

I have devised a new section for this.

I didn't say use Iaza because many people have a hard time with it, and PDN is much easier.

How To Make Your Images 'Transparent'

Making in image transparent doesn't have anything to do with being able to "see through it", what it means is that you image will not have a white background, or any other background. When you post/upload the picture it will be as one (the background will be whatever skin it is being viewed in).

Requirements: Microsoft Paint (built in) and Paint.NET

1) Post a screen-shot of your image in a new Paint Document. Then draw a selection box around your item and crop it. It should look like this:

11hw77q.png

2) Select the brush tool and set the size to 1px (the smallest circle). Make sure that your foreground color is set to white.

15fn046.png

3) Now zoom in all of the way (using the magnifying tool), and start painting around your image.

30bn22s.png

jip8oi.png

4) Next, select the eraser tool and erase the rest of the background (you will probably need to change sizes). This is what it should look like normal (zoomed to regular size).

ot3fvr.png

5) Now open up Paint.NET, and don't sweat about it looking a little complex; we will be using the basic tools.

6) Copy your image from Paint, and paste it into Paint.NET. Then use the magic wand tool and click on the white; press delete.

2r2u2q0.png

7) Next just draw a selection box closely around your image (tool looks almost the same as in Paint). Now in the top options (where file, edit, etc. are) and click on Image, then click on the Crop to selection option.

8) Now, all you have to do is save! Just go to File, then click on the Save option.

Interesting..

It works! :box: All it took was 40 minutes of frustration, installation, and congratulations!

Thanks Ptolemaeus.

hey guys im just testing so ignore me

I shall not ignore you -.-

You should save it as PNG, since it's an RS screenshot. Photos, sigs, drawings, etc. are fine as JPEG/JPG, while animations, emotes, and underbanners should be GIF, and all in-game shots should be PNG :)

On this site, avatars are uploaded from the user's computer. So all you need to do is save the image (you can right-click and go "Save Image As..." to save an image you found online to your computer) and then go to Edit Avatar Settings and click "Browse". Find the image and then click "Open", and then "Update Avatar".

Make sure the image is under 25KB and saved as either a gif, jpg, jpeg or png.

That's because you didn't crop the picture. Reread the section on cropping again; you need to move the image into the top left-hand corner (press CTRL+A to select the entire picture), and then use the little boxes on the sides to crop the picture (drag them towards the image).
