Types of Skills

guide by: Erik Delko

special thanks to: Walrus, mgallegos, Hawk, More Bored than U, Lord Vega

There are four main groups of skills in the land of Runescape. They are combat skills, expensive skills and priceless skills. This guide will explain the 3 main skill groups, what their purpose in in Runescape is, and how to make money of them.

Combat Skills

These are the skills that raise your combat in runescape. They make up around 20% of all the skills in Runescape. Heres is the list of all the combat skills:

Attack: To raise this skill you need a melee weapon such a sword, axe, hammer etc. To advance the attack skill you will need to use the accurate style of fighting. The reason that you might want to raise attack is that you will hit less zeros so the higher your attack level is the higher your chances are to give out damage! Also the higher you attack is the more weapons you can use.

Attack Emote: Your character will punch the air, and force waves form from your hands. Next, your character will jump into the air from the ground and punches the air.

strength:Strength is probably one of the most important melee skills there is. People usally make Pures where they get heir attack and defense up to 40 and only raise strength from that point on. Also to raise strength you need to use the aggresive style of fighting. The higher your strenght is the bigger chance you will have to deal great sums of damage!

Hitpoints

Hitpoints is a skill you always raise when your training any combat skill except Prayer. It isa veryy useful skill as it gives you more life. Unlike everyother skill where you start out at level 1, you star out with 10 hitpoints level.

Red Hit: A red hit on a monster means that you have dealt some damage on him/her/it.

Blue Hit: A blue hit on a monster means you have hit nothing on the enamy.

Green Hit: A green hit means that you have poisend the enamy.

Orange Hit: An Orange Hit on an enamy means that you have deasised him/her/it.

hitpoints Cape! capeachieve_hp.gif To get this cape first you have to achive 99 hitpoints. after you have 99 hitpoints head over to the Duel arena near Al-Kharid and go to the hospital there. Then talk to Surgeon General Tafini and she will give you a hitpoints cape!

Expensive Skills

Most of the skills in Runescape are expensive as the make up around 50% of all the skills! Most of them like cooking smithing and herblor are tied to a priceless skill suck as cooking is tied to fishing, smithing, to mining, nerblor to farming but farming is a mixed skill.

Runecrafting: This skill is closely tied to magic and if you don't wan to spend money to mining. To make this skill priceless u have to spnd more time mining essence and to do that you have to have completed the Rune Mysteries Quest. These are the five npc that can telaport you to the essence mine!

Aubury - Located in the Varrock Magic Shop.

Wizard Sedridor - Located in the Basement of the Wizard Tower.

Wizard Distentor - Found in the Yanille Magic Guild.

Wizard Cromperty - Located just northeast of the Ardougne Market.

Brimstail Gnome - Found in a cave in the southwest corner of the Tree Gnome Stronghold

If you are a member and u have 30+ mining you will only mine pure essence with which you can make any runes!

After you finish Zamorak Mage's Runecrafting Task you can use pouches! (this is members only)

smallpouch.gif Small Pouch runecrafting level 1 can hold 3 essence

medpouch.gif Medium Pouch

to be continued...

Why do you need an introduction guide for the skill guides? Thats like writing a guide about writing a guide...... Tutorial island gives people the basic grasp of the different skills and most are self-explanatory. There are already detailed guides for each skill and if someone wants to learn about a skill, then they will look there.

Seems like a cross between a skill summary guide and a money making guide. I don't think it is really needed. If you want to continue, you should include images, if you have not already thought about it.

O so its one paragraph showing each skill. So this would be added as a guide when that paragraph is detailed in bothe the skill guide and the Skill help guide? :beret: kinda useless...

I agree that this topic is useless, but if you wish to continue with it I have some help.

You use Accurate fighting style to level up attack, not Controlled. Accurate give 4 XP per damage. Controlled only gives 1.3.

instead of 'buyable', say something like ' 'expensive' ', and instead of 'unbuyable', say 'priceless'

SO it is just a group of little information, with no details, i dont think this guide is needed :(

actually, i think this is a very needed section for the beginners guides section

I suggest you read the Guidelines to Submissions (which you clearly didn't yet), and think before writing the guide. Will the guide be used? Is it helpful? Also, use correct spelling and grammar (*sigh*).

Yes, I can see you're doing your best on spelling. :/

And besides:

Combat skills: Isn't Prayer, Magic and Ranging expensive?

There's two types of skills, and they can be cheap or expensive, depending on how you train them.

Seriously, if you need to know something about a skill, you can easily click the skill guide.

This guide will expaline the 3 main skill groups,

Should be explain.

Heres is the list of all the combat skills
You might want to put a colon after skills.

To raise this skill you need a melle weapon such a sword, axe, hammer ect.

"Melle" is spelled Melee, and it's etc., not ect.

To advance the attack skill you will need to use the accuratr style of fighting

Should be spelled accurate.

The reason that you might want to raise attack is that you will hit less zeros so the higher your attack lv is the higher

Should be lvl, or level.

Also the higher you attack is the more weapons you can use
Period.

Also here are some things that ill bost your attack level for a short amount of time.

There should be a comma after also, in the middle, it should be "that will boost..."

strenght:
Strength.

Strenght i probablly one of the most impostant melle skills there is.

Should be, "Strength is probably one of the most important melee skills there is."

People usally make Pures where they getheir attack and defense up to 40

Should be their.

The higher your streght is the bigger chanche you
Should be strength and chance.

This guide will explain the 3 main skill groups, what their purpose in in Runescape is, and how to make money of them.

You put "in" twice and I think you mean "how to make money out of them"

To raise this skill you need a melee weapon such a sword, axe, hammer etc.

I think it should be "such as a sword, axe, hammer, etc"

People usally make Pures where they get heir attack and defense up to 40 and only raise strength from that point on

You mispelled "usually" and "their"

Also here are some things that ill bost your attack level for a short amount of time

I think that it's supposed to be "that will boost your attack level"

you can get this cape for 99,000go

I think that this should be "you can get this cape for 99,000 gp"

It isa veryy useful skill

I'm sure that's supposed to be "It is a very useful skill"

A green hit means that you have poisend the enamy.

You mispelled poisoned and enemy

Thats all the mistakes I saw, hope that this helps you
