Wisdom Teeth

Recommended Posts

Yeah its a topic about wisdom teeth :aware:

So do any of you have them yet? I don't but a few of my classmates are starting to get theirs in .... and it looks to be a really painful experience :)

Also, for those of you who know, is it true that once your wisdom teeth come in you stop growing?

Are you sure its not just a molar?

Well thast what my dentist told me. So unless she is an idiot :aware: , Im pretty sure.

P.S.: Now that i think of it, I probably didnt feel the pain becasue I had braces on...so it gave the tooth space(?)

I've got wisdom teeth coming through now and as far as I can tell, it hurts.

It's not a particularly bad pain, it's just a constant aching that makes you want to stab yourself in the gums with a knife.

It does, undoubtedly, suck.

Get braces; the pain that braces cause are more than the apin that the tooth causes :aware:

My wisdom teeth bothered me just a bit. They were coming in and they were really hurting my teeth when I put in my retainer. Other than that, they didn't bother me. The dentist decided they needed to come out though. It was the scariest thing. I had this person shoving this metal instrument into my numbed mouth, and I could hear my teeth breaking. And I don't care what they tell you, it still hurt. And the lady doctor was like talking to me like I was two, to add insult to injury. "It's going to be all right, sweety. Just hold still." Dentists are just... :aware: . :)

Lol, Im guessing you have braces becasue of the retainers?

If you do Im sure you had to take out two molars(at least).

Were yours like 2 inches tall and like vampire teeth? Thats how mine looked like.

I had my wisdom teeth out last year. They weren't painful coming in or anything, but they would've screwed up what my braces had fixed. Recovery wasn't pleasant...

How old were you when yours came in, mormril?

i had them taken out a little while ago, i only had 3. it was kind of painful but the bad part is all the cleaning/maintenance you have to do afterwards, especially after eating anything

Several of my peers have got theirs at around age 16. I'm 18 now though and haven't got any... (Or if I had, I didn't know because I felt no pain etc)

According to this, wisdom teeth normally start growing between the ages of 16 to 21. :aware:

My brother had to have them taken out. They didn't hurt him at all though but he had had braces before he the wisdom teeth came in.

After they pulled the wisdom teeth my brother got to keep the teeth. Those things are big.

Well my dentist told me I'm getting my wisdom teeth, and sure it aches, but it's not really ALL that bad.

And I sure hope you don't get them you stop growing, I'm only 5"6. Plus that'd be really early.

I had all four taken out on two separate trips to the dentist. My dentist thought it would be better for me to do it on separate occasions so I won't be completely miserable in case the discomfort lasted for a long time. The first time, they just popped em out and I used gauze for a week. The salt water was gross and I only did it once despite my dentist's request of a couple times a day. The second time, I went to see a specialist where they inserted a needle in my arm and I was out within a minute. They cut my gums and removed my lower wisdom teeth, then sewed the gums back together with dissolving material. I again used the gauze for a week and the sewing material dissolved a few days after. I didn't have any real discomfort after the first week and I was never in a lot of pain. Other people aren't so lucky.
