20000_Posts
Is someone going to make a new topic or what? I had quite a few submissions in it last time (I'll see if I can find them again and I'll post them). If there needs to be a new topic...I'm always ready to take up the task. -.- I'll get started on submissions. Icy Defiance
I'll see if I can come up with more later, but here's a start. Under programming/web design comes Bluefish. It's basically an IDE for many different programming languages, with syntax highlighting for C, C++, just about anything you could ever use for web development, and more. Under graphics is Apophysis, for those who want to make their own flames that can be better quality, more complex, and better controlled than GIMP's built in flame generator. Windows only, though. Oh, yeah, and I'm also willing to maintain a new thread, but I'm not going to take it away from Redmonke, who would probably do a better job than me. I added those to the list (if you don't mind -.-). Should I add web based programs like sumopaint and google docs?

20000_Posts
DigsbyGoogle Voice Other than that, it's a good list. I was going to put Digsby up, but I've heard that lately it's been really bloated. If you want I can put it up. And I think I may put webapps up, too. Just in case. Recuva - http://www.piriform.com/recuva how about netbeans for programming? I put up Recuva just didn't know which section to put it in (System Cleanup/Utilities). -.- And I've never heard of netbeans, link please? Icy Defiance
Recuva - http://www.piriform.com/recuva how about netbeans for programming? I put up Recuva just didn't know which section to put it in (System Cleanup/Utilities). -.- And I've never heard of netbeans, link please? http://www.netbeans.org/ It looks to me like Bluefish minus a few features, but with less features it might be easier to figure out for new users. I'm not sure, though, and I'm a little short on time at the moment to look into it further. Maybe tomorrow. And, yeah, I would put web apps on there as well. They're many times just as useful as 'normal' apps and often have less compatibility issues.
finisterra
http://www.stereopsis.com/flux/ That's a program that controls your computer screen's glare according to the time of the day. Veni vidi vici
AntivirusMicrosoft Security Essentials Lifehacker says MS Security Essentials is its recommended choice for a free antivirus application. MS Security Essentials has also been ranked as the best performing antivirus program by several sites such as AV Comparatives. I'd like to second this. I use MSSE all the time, and it is the best free anti-virus I've ever used (And, I used pretty much all of em' before I found this one). ~Vincent

Caboose
Why not just look in your repositories? Should be at least 20,000 free programs there in most distributions to do whatever you want.

Inquisitribble
You might just want to add Aptana/Aptana Studio under the Web Development section. I use it all the time whenever I'm coding something up, it's awesome. Information, Download

Melik
A favorite of mine (and very underrated but excellent program) for programming is Programmer's Notepad. Information and Download It's great because it's really customizable, IMO better than Notepad++, has great syntax highlighting themes, and offers its own portable version. Caboose
Looks horrible compared to Gedit though, and if you want something more advanced than that i don't see why you wouldn't just learn Vim?
