Recommended Posts

This is the new code for the guide. Guide is 30% done. If you contributed to the guide a while back and your name is not on here I will add your name as soon as I can. A new map is in progress so don\'t let the numbers on it fool you! Falcon and I are the writers so he has given me permission to edit the guide. This guide is currently in production. Any content submitted is greatly appreciated. I need images of attractions, shops, etc., mini guides to the numbered areas on the map and anything specified in the guide. If you want to know anything, feel free to ask. All content submissions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Getting There

falconsvarrockguidebootlh8.gif

Method one:

Walking:

One of the main way for many people to travel to Varrock is to walk there from wherever they are at the time, you can find out just how to get their by looking at the world map in-game.

falconsvarrockguidetelelc4.gif

Method two:

Teleportation:

If you are a little too far away from Varrock to walk there, you might want to try teleporting. To do this you must be a level 25 or higher at magic. You must also have one law rune, three air runes and one fire rune in your inventory, or a Varrock tele tablet to succeed in teleporting to the city.

falconsvarrockguidehouswk2.gif

Method Three:

Player-Owned House Portals:

If you happen to just have finished getting a level-up in construction and need to get to Varrock you should consider using a teleportation portal in your house. In order to have a teleportation portal, you must have level 50+ in Construction and have level 25 Magic.

falconsvarrockguidecanopn2.gif

Method Four:

Canoe:

If you are around Lumbridge, The Barbarian Village or Edgeville, You can go to the side of the river, and look for a thick, oddly shaped tree. If you have an axe along with you, you can cut down the tree, and shape it into a canoe, with the proper woodcutting level. When this process is done, hop onto the canoe, and pick your desired destination on the map.

falconsvarrockguidebalour7.gif

Method Five:

Hot-Air Balloon:

After completing the Enlightened Journey Quest you will be able to use hot air balloons to travel to many areas throughout RuneScape including Varrock. For information on the hot air balloon transportation system, please visit the Enlightened Journey quest guide.

falconsvarrockguidetreesu1.gif

Method Six:

Spirit Tree:

Spirit trees are located in four places around Runescape, one of them is just north-east of the Grand Exchange. They will teleport you to any area where another tree is located. If you run into one and wish to travel to the Grand Exchange, just click on it, and select the Grand Exchange teleportation option. To use spirit trees you must have completed the Treen Gnome Village quest.

falconsvarrockguideneckhd0.gif

Method Seven:

Necklace of Skills:

Another way to travel to Varrock is to use the Necklace of Skills, this necklace can teleport you to several locations including the Cooking Guild, located in the western part of Varrock, right by the West Bank. This necklace can be recharged in the Legends Guild after completion of the Legends Quest.

falconsvarrockguidebracsg5.gif

Method Eight:

Bracelet of Combat:

One more of the ways to get to Varrock is to use the bracelet of combat. This item is very similar to the necklace of skills. It will teleport you to three locations including the Champions Guild, located on the outskirts of west Varrock. It can be recharged in the Legends Guild after completing the Legends Quest.

City Map

1. The Grand Exchange

picture7ey7.png

The Grand Exchangeis a huge Runescape superstore except it is not nearly as big. At the Grand Exchange you can place a buying/selling request for almost any item in the game as long as you have the money for it. Many people still hang around at the Grand Exchange and sell their items through trade so they can get more money for it, or because it will not sell in the Grand Exchange. If you are selling something valuable and want to get more money for it than it\'s worth by putting in junk (Pure essence, runes ect.) that wouldn\'t sell in the Grand Exchange anyway, you would want to go to World 1 or 2 because you will find that the Grand Exchange will literally be overflowing with Runescape players buying, selling and lending their items. The Grand Exchange is a great way for people to buy and sell items, gather clans, make money from lending and meet friends!

2. The West Bank

westbankxi5.png

The West Bank is located just south of the Grand Exchange. At this bank you can organize clans, sell and buy items and many other things. If you need to drop off some items in your bank account, this is the perfect place to go.

3. The Cooking Guild

cookingguildfi4.png

The Cooking Guild is a place that you gain access to after you achieve level 32 cooking. The Cooking Guild is a great place to get some cooking XP, make extra food for cooking or just hang around and pass time.

4. The Chapel

chapelvb0.png

The Varrock chapel is a very useful building. If you need to recharge your prayer points, or learn more about Zamorak and prayer, then this is the perfect place to go.

5. The Dummy House

2eovg2f.jpg

The Dummy House is located north of the eastern bank and proves very useful for new players to train their Attack skill. After attack level 7, you learn nothing from attacking a dummy.

6. The Mining Pit

[pic]

Just south-west of Varrock you will find a descent sized mining pit. This area will be identified as a mining area by the small pick axe symbol on the in-game map. In this mining pit you can mine copper, tin and iron. To mine copper and tin, you do not need any mining level higher than 1. For mining iron, you must be level 15+. When mining in this pit, you will gain xp, but watch out for the Rock Golem random event.

7. The Varrock Palace

2vnmdsx.jpg

The Varrock Palace is the main building in Varrock, this is where the king of Varrock lives, and the area where you start the The Varrock Achievement Diary Behind the palace you can cut down yew trees which require level 60 woodcutting to cut. This is the most popular area in Varrock used to start quests [quest list] and talk to NPC\'s about other quests. You can also get to the Grand Exchange, and the wilderness from this area.

28c1s77.jpg

8. The East Bank

eastbankha5.png

The East Bank is located just East of the West Bank, this bank is a little less popular but you can still do the same exact things there, as the West Bank.

9. Aubury\'s Rune Shop

Aubury\'s Rune Shop is one of the most buzzing places in Varrock. In this shop you can do three things:

1. Buy Runes

auburyspeechnd7.png

buyrunesgreatzv5.png

Auburie\'s Rune Shop.

trdaubgx9.png

When you reach the shop, all you have to do is right click on him and select the \"Trade\" option.

storevq6.png

Aubrie\'s Rune Shop will always have an infinite supply of the runes in the above picture.

2. Teleport to the Rune(or Pure for members) Essence Mines

teleaubyt6.png

To make Aubury teleport you to the pure essence mine simply right click on him and select \"Teleport Aubry.\"

[Pic of Aubury teleporting you there in HD please submit, as I cannot play in HD at the moment due to an update issue]

pessroom1xe6.png

After Aubury says the phrase \"Sevenior Disthiline Menoloko!\" You will be teleported into what appears to be a huge abandoned mine. After you take one of the paths you should see a huge gray mass of what appears to be stone. Once you prospect it, it will inform you that it is actually pure essence. After that if you have a pickaxe you can start mining.

pessroomtj4.png

After you have mined, however, you can walk over to the glowing sphere of light on the ground (Portal), usually in the corner of whatever cavern you are in at the time. When you click on the portal you will be safely teleported back to Aubury\'s Rune Shop with all of your items and your essence in your inventory.

Remember, to use the pure essence mines if you are a member and have Aubury teleport you there, you have completed the Rune Mysteries quest!

3. Purchase a Runecrafting Skill-cape

If you have achieved level 99 Runecrafting and you happen to be around Varrock, then you are in luck! To get your 99 Runecrafting skill-cape you just have to go to Aubury\'s (Aubury is the master of Runecrafting) Rune Shop and talk to him about skill capes.

[Chat box picks of someone talking to him about getting 99 runecrafting if anyone has any]

After he congratulates you on your achievement you will receive your new skill-cape and hood for 99,000gp.

10.The Smithing Tutor

[pic]

Just a few paces south of the West Bank is the Smithing Tutor. You can ask him about Smithing. You can also smith your bars here. There are no specific requirements to smith here.

11. Juliet\'s House

[pic]

Here be the house of the lovesick Juliet. You go here during the Romeo and Juliet Quest to talk to Juliet.

12. The Museum

[pic]

The museum is located just across from the Varrock Sewer. It\'s the place where you can learn about Varrock\'s history and values.

The Digsite Exhibit

[few pics]

The Digsite Exhibit is located on the ground floor of the Varrock Museum. In this exhibit there are many display cases housing many artifacts. However, some of these artifacts are missing. You will need to acquire these artifacts yourself by searching the specimen rocks at the south side of the ground floor of the Varrock Museum. This process is all part of the Varrock Museum Miniquest. But before you start this Miniquest it is a partial requirement to have completed The Digsite quest. Although, if you have not completed this quest, you can speak to the museum guard and he will let you into the archeology area outside the museum. Also, while searching this area you will earn museum kudos that may benefit your museum knowledge.

Once you are done searching the archeology area you can go to the northwest corner of the ground floor and talk to the Information Clerk in his booth. The Clerk will give you information on the museum, kudos AND offer you free maps of the museum. Just west of the Clerk is a giant map of the museum that you could stare at for a very... [i[VERY long time.

Last, but not least, there are other NPC\'s located on the ground flood besides the Clerk and Guard. One of the other NPC\'s, Curator Haig Helen, is an NPC that you\'ve probably seen before. If you talk to him he will tell you about an island that the museum staff discovered north of Morytania. Another few NPC\'s are the School Girl, The Schoolboy, The Pupil, and The Teacher. The two adults prance around the digsite exhibit while the two kids just wonder around by themselves.

The Timeline Exhibit

[few pics]

The Timeline Exhibit can be accessed by climbing the staircase in the northeast corner of the Digsite Exhibit. When you get to the Timeline Exhibit you will see Historian Minas. If you talk to him, he\'ll help you out by giving you some info about the museum. One way you can help him is to give him some information about the display cases in the museum based on some of the info you received from quests.

If you keep going west through the Timeline Exhibit you\'ll run into another NPC: Torrcs. You\'ll notice him by the rune armor he wears. If you have a little conversation with him, you\'ll find out that he is a history addict who spends his days staring at the museums display cases. If you\'re lucky (Or you just click the right button in the chat box) he\'ll tell you some facts and his opinion on some of the museums different exhibits.

There is another guy in the Timeline Exhibit who has almost the same personality as Torrcs! His name is Marfet, you can find him southern area of the Timeline Exhibit. He can tell you lots of things about the museum, anything from the Exhibits, to the to information about the Digsite.

If you head to the staircase in the southwest corner you can climb up it to reach the second part of the Timeline Exhibit. When you reach the next floor you will see many attractions, including a full sized Gnome Glider!

No exhibit is complete without a new NPC to talk to! So you should walk over and say hi to Art Critic Jacques. He can\'t give you much info, seeing as his native language is French, but you can carry on a standard conversation and ask him a few questions about himself and the museum.

Well, this about completes the Timeline exhibit, but of course, you\'ll want to talk to one more NPC. Kind of like the Digsite exhibit, there is another Teacher and Pupil. The funny thing about these two is they can never stop moving around, because they are too busy gathering information.

The Natural History Exhibit

This last exhibit is located underground, you can access this exhibit by descending the grand staircase in the northwest corner of the museum. When you get to the underground exhibit, the first person you might notice is Orlando Smith. If you talk to him he will tell you about a job you can do to earn Kudos. The objective of this job is to walk around the display cases in the Natural History Exhibit and finish a short, easy quiz about each of the contents about the artifacts in the display cases. If you have any questions about the displays you can talk to a Natural Historian, located in each museum exhibit.

If you travel to the north area of the Natural History Exhibit you will see four large display cases. The display cases contain different artifacts in this order: A Desert Lizard, a Battle Tortoise, a Red Dragon, and a Wyvern. Be advised, these are not the real creatures, they are simply models.

If you move in a clockwise rotation, head to the eastern area of the Natural History Exhibit to view four entirely new displays: A Snail, a Snake, Sea Slugs, and a Monkey.

If you head to the southern end of the Natural History Exhibit that has only two display cases to show off. The left is a Terrorbird and the right is a Kalphite.

Last but not least, the western end of this exhibit homes the models of: A Camel, Leeches, a Penguin, and a Mole.

13. The Blue Moon Inn

bluemoonad2.png

The Blue Moon Inn is the more popular of the three pubs in Varrock. In the pub, you can do what most people do... Buy a beer! If you are doing the Shield of Arrav quest, you will need to kill a man in the pub named Johnny the Beard, but only if you are working for The Phoenix Gang. He is only level 2, so you should definitely be able to easily defeat him. Another regular drunk who is walking around the Blue Moon Inn is Dr. Harlow. If you speak to this old man he will give you some helpful advise on killing Count Draynor in the Vampire Slayer quest. On the upstairs level of the inn in the northeast corner is a chest. During the Pirates Treasure you will be required to unlock the chest. The last thing you might want to do before you go sober up is to go here to buy a beer for The Alfred Grimhand Barcrawl.

14. The Gypsy\'s Tent

picture5qg8.png

The Gypsy\'s tent is just right next the the staff shop, right on the edge of the Varrock square. It has a freaky sign on the outside that is supposed to be the Gypsy\'s eye, but really looks like a hamburger. This old little palm reader plays a small but important role in the Recipe for Disaster and Demon Slayer quests. If you haven\'t started either of those quests, you can give the Gypsy one coin and she will do what she calls \"Read your future\"

17. Gertrude\'s House

picture18f.png

Have you ever wondered where you can get those cats you see people walking around this? Gertrude\'s House is located just South-West of the Varrock Square. After you have already completed the Gertrude\'s Cat quest, which you can start by talking to Gertrude in her house, you can go speak to Gertrude and she will sell you a cute little kitten! If you lose the kitten somehow, you can go back to her house, and she will give you another one for 100GP.

18. The Estate Agent\'s Office

[Picture]

If you have just advanced a level in construction and want to update the type of material your house is made out of, or just want to move it to a different town, then the Varrock Estate Agent is the person to see. The Estate Agent will change the material your house is made of, as long as you have the needed construction level. He will also let you move your house portal to a different location, and get a construction skillcape if your construction level is 99.

19. The Varrock Sewer.

I think you should do a bit about Varrock itself before the Grand Exchange.

Like the map of the city for example.

You should have a part that is about the inhabitants. Like the guards, the owners of the shops , maybe the bankers. I'll get pictures for them if you want.

To get your 99 Runecrafting skill-cape you just have to go to Aubury's (Aubury is the master of Runecrafting) Rune Shop and talk to him about skill capes.
[Chat box picks of someone talking to him about getting 99 runecrafting if anyone has any]
After he congratulates you on your achievement you will receive your new skill-cape and hood for 99,000gp.

10.The Smithing Tutor

[pic, I got one]

Just a few paces south of the West Bank is the Smithing Tutor. You can ask him about smithing. You can also smith your bars here. There are no specific requirements to smith here.

11. Juliet's House

[pic, I got one]

Here be the house of the lovesick Juliet. You go here during the Romeo and Juliet quest to talk to Juliet.

12. The Museum

The museum is located just across from the Varrock Sewer. It's the place where you can learn about Varrock's history and values.

Just west of the Clerk is a giant map of the museum for you to stare at for hours... and hours... and hours.

Last, but not least, there are other NPC's located on the ground flood besides the Clerk and Guard. One of the other NPC's, Curator Haig Helen, is an NPC that you've probably seen before. If you talk to him he will tell you about an island that the museum staff discovered north of Morytania. Another few NPC's are the School Girl, The Schoolboy, The Pupil, and The Teacher.

If you talk to him, he'll help you out by giving you some info about the museum. One way you can help him is to give him some information about the display cases in the museum based on some of the info you received from quests.

If you keep going west through the Timeline Exhibit you'll run into another NPC: Torrcs. You'll notice him by the rune armor he wears. If you have a little conversation with him, you'll find out that he is a history addict who spends his days staring at the museums display cases. If you're lucky (Or you just click the right button in the chat box) he'll tell you some facts and his opinion on some of the museums different exhibits.

There's another guy in the Timeline Exhibit who has almost the same personality as Torrcs!

He can't give you much info, seeing as his native language is French, but you can carry on a standard conversation and ask him a few questions about himself and the museum.

Well, this about completes the Timeline exhibit, but of course, you'll want to talk to one more NPC.

14. The Gypsy's Tent

The Gypsy's tent is just right next the the staff shop, right on the edge of the Varrock square. It has a freaky sign on the outside that is supposed to be the Gypsy's eye, but really looks like a hamburger. This old little palm reader plays a small but important role in the Recipe for Disaster and Demon Slayer quests. If you haven't started either of those quests, you can give the Gypsy one coin and she will do what she calls "Read your future" Oooh...

You should have a part that is about the inhabitants. Like the guards, the owners of the shops , maybe the bankers. I'll get pictures for them if you want.

Yes, I will be putting them in.

If you want to get large HD, transparant pics of the people then please do, just please take and edit them yourself.

On your guide you say the Grand Exchange is located at point one, but actually number one is on Varrock Square. Just thought I would point that out.

The Cooking Guild is a place that you gain access to after you achieve level 32 cooking. The Cooking Guild is a great place to get some cooking XP

(Experience Points), make extra food for cooking or boss battles or just hang around and pass time.

Matt,

it must be .PNG

yours is a JPEG

Ahhh thanks. Ill fix it up!

Matt

Seems like you just changed the format from jpg to png, this doesn't work it's in png now but has jpg quality (zoom in with MsPaint if you don't see a difference between png and jpg). You'll have to retake that image unless you got a png version (good quality) on your computer.
