Missing My Mummy Guide

Recommended Posts

How do you get the lines so straight? I can never do it, it took me 2 hours earlier to get it as good as that (and it was still crap ;) ).

I'm new to helping with guides, so I'm not very good at anything yet.

There is a guide here, on how to map dungeons. To make straight lines using he brush, pencil tool or whatnot, you hold down the shift key.

Amulet of Glory (3), and Ring of dueling (4).

Add 'or higher' on the end of them, this may confuse some people.

Oh my. I guess I still have mistakes. Sorry ;) I'll read through these now.

Wildman, one of your jars on the map is in the wrong spot. Also if you could put a mummy with no hands where to most southern jar is.

There is a more correct idea of where everything is. But, my 'dots' hardly stand out, yours are much better.

Gathering up Information

98yq8g.gif

To start this quest, you will need to speak with Leela, who is located in Draynor Village. She can be found wandering around somewhere northwest of the jail. To get to Draynor, a simple route would be to teleport there with an amulet of glory or to cabbage-port with the Explorer's ring and walk southeast; or you can use your home teleport and walk west to Draynor from Lumbridge.

startmap.png

Leela will ask you to check out the pyramid south of Uzer, and contact the mummy who is inside it. To get there, you can either use the Fairy Ring and go east (Code D-L-Q), or you can go to Shantay Pass. You can use a ring of dueling to get there faster. Make sure you have things to help survive in the desert (like waterskins/enchanted water tiara and desert robes), some armour and a weapon, some coins (at least 200), and a teleport to anywhere. Now enter the gates and take the carpet ride to Uzer. (You will need to remove your weapon for the ride) Once in Uzer, head south to stumble on the pyramid.

mappc.png

Now, enter the pyramid (If you log out while in it, you will log in outside of the pyramid). Here is a map of inside the pyramid for reference throughout the quest:

rt2w3l.png

There will be two small rooms at the start; enter the one that has a cave leading off of it. You will see a skeleton on the ground. Right-click and rummage it.

rummage.png

This will bring it life and it will become a Skeleton Looter (Level 41). Kill it and it should drop one of the following items: Pyramid Journal, a Mummy Hand, a Canopic Jar, and a Scroll of the Dead. Wander around the pyramid (stay on this floor) and keep killing skeletons until you get all four items. When you do, you will get this message:

16ii61k.png

Now return to Leela with your newly obtained items.

The Start of Reconstruction

Leela will take interest in the Scroll of the Dead that you obtained. After reading it, she will ask that you reconstruct the mummy inside the pyramid.

To start, head to Ali Morrisane, who is in northern Al-Kharid (at the quest symbol to the west of the gnome glider). To get there you can walk or quickly use a ring of dueling. You will need to talk to him about the ways you can contact the mummy in the pyramid. He will tell you that he does have a copy of Senliten's official name. Unfortunately, he will only give it to you if you get him a glass of sq'irk juice.

To get the juice, head south to the little house and right click teleport on the apprentice. You should now be in the Sorceress's Garden minigame. Go to any season and obtain enough fruit of the same season to make sq'irk juice (This will take least 5 fruit from Winter, 4 from Spring, 3 from Autumn, and 2 from Summer). Now use your pestle and mortar on the fruit while you have an empty beer glass in your inventory. You should now have the juice. Head back to Ali Morrisane with the juice.

image3.png

Give the juice to Ali and he will give you a "Copied Name" scroll. Read it, after, you will notice he made errors while copying it. Equip your Ring of Charos (a) and speak to him again. You will get the actual scroll.

Now, head to the Varrock library. To get there, head to the bank at Shantay Pass or the one in Al-Kharid and grab a teleport. Or you could simply walk there (Which may be more convenient because you could grab an Al-Kharid flier on the way, which you will need later on in the quest). Once at the library, speak with Reldo. Ask him about the pyramid, however he will tell you he needs an Al-Kharid flier to copy the documents (You could get one of these from the boy advertising north of the mining pit in Al-Kharid). Once you give Reldo the flier he will give you the Scroll of Praise.

image2.png

Now head back to Al-Kharid using a ring of dueling or by walking and get your desert gear and items ready. Make sure you have armour, weapon, food, prayer potion (If you're below 70 prayer), knife, a willow log, 40 Fire runes, wine, spice, grain, pot, hammer, and a saw. Also before you leave make sure you have put the spice you have in your wine and put the grain you have in your pot. Finally, Head back to the pyramid by taking the carpet to Uzer and traveling south.

Contact

Go inside the pyramid and head to the imposing doors. You will see a golem. Try going down the stairs, the golem won't allow you. You have to attack it, however it can only be affected by crush attacks. If your weapon doesn't have a crush attack, remove your weapon and use your hands. (Hands work as well)

Now go down the stairs and pick up the one jar to the west. Now head east (Passed a few level 41 scarabs) to pick up two more Canopic Jars and a mummy with no hands (You are able to combine the mummy hands with the mummy). Then go back to the south of the staircase to find a puzzle.

The puzzle is totally random for each person. Just make sure you have some food and make your way across. The best way is to stick to the red/yellow tiles or blue/green tiles. Stepping from green to red, red to blue, yellow to green, or blue to yellow will trigger a trap. Also, stepping on different colored tiles will cause a certain color of tiles to rise. The damage of triggering a trap can be in the 20's depending on your hitpoints level.

image5.png

After across, head to the room with sarcophagus and start repairing.

-Fix the chair and table

-Repair all the statues (You lose prayer doing this).

-Place the four Canopic jars on the shelf

-Replace your spiced wine with the broken wine jug.

-Replace your pot of flour with the broken pot next to the wine.

-Fix the statue by using a knife and willow log. Try it a few times until you receive the clarification that it is complete.

queeno.png

Some of the tasks do not have to be totally completed in order to reach 75% completion. After you've done a good portion of the tasks above, head west and kill the first level 41 Tumeken's Shadow. Then light the south torch (lighting the torches is done with fire runes). The next shadow will appear and be a bit higher level. Kill it and light the north torch. Do this with the last two torches (the order will be west to east), and kill the shadows (Max level of the shadows is 74).

wmmhead.gifNow go back to the earlier room and have a chat with the queen. (Make sure your progress is at least 75% by checking your quest journal or the scroll of the dead) After talking, go back to Leela in Draynor Village and speak with her. Quest Complete!

Looks great! You've done a really nice job.

There's just a few typos still in there - I'll bold them this time to make it easier to see what I'm referring to - and I see a few things I'd tweak if I were proofing/editing it:

Items: Shantay Passes (Obtained in quest), Items to survive in the desert (Like Desert Robes and Waterskins/Enchanted Water Tiara), Coins, Hammer, Willow Log, Spice, Grain, Pot, Saw, Jug of Wine, Pestle and mortar, 20 Fire Runes, a Prayer Potion or two (If you're below 70 prayer), Al-Kharid flier, Ring of Charos (a), and an Empty Beer Glass for Sq'irk Juice.

<grammar soapbox mode on>

This is a somewhat minor nitpick, but... it's grammatically incorrect to capitalize the phrases inside the parentheses unless they are stand-alone sentences (which the ones above aren't; they're supplemental phrases). For purposes of a game walkthrough, it doesn't really matter - other than that it will irk grammar nerds like me ;) - but for real-life writing (such as papers for school, writing for work, resumes, etc.) you should avoid doing it.

Grammar rules for parentheses

<grammar soapbox mode off>

Recommended Quests: Garden of Tranquillity,

Mentioned by somebody else, but there's one too many l's in there - it should be "Tranquility".

(You will need to remove your weapon for the ride) Once in Uzer, head south to stumble on the pyramid.

Here, the capital letter at the beginning is correct - because it's a complete sentence, seperate from those around it - but you're missing the period at the end. It should be:

"(You will need to remove your weapon for the ride.)

Here is a map of inside the pyramid for reference throughout the quest:

<snip>

[Wander around the pyramid (stay on this floor) and keep killing skeletons until you get all four items.

I just noticed that you've not mentioned the wall traps in front of the fake doors; one of the skeletons is behind the traps, so maybe you should warn about them?

Go to any season and obtain enough fruit of the same season to make sq'irk juice (This will take least 5 fruit from Winter, 4 from Spring, 3 from Autumn, and 2 from Summer).

The word "least" doesn't belong there.

Read it, after, you will notice he made errors while copying it.

That reads oddly... if I were editing, I'd change it to either:

"When you read it, you'll notice that he made errors while copying it."

or

"After reading it, you'll be aware that he made errors while copying it."

Ask him about the pyramid, however he will tell you he needs an Al-Kharid flier to copy the documents (You could get one of these from the boy advertising north of the mining pit in Al-Kharid).

Somewhat run-on, which makes it a bit hard to read. I'd take out the word "however" and change the punctuation to:

" Ask him about the pyramid; he will tell you he needs an Al-Kharid flier to copy the documents. (You could get one of these from the boy advertising north of the mining pit in Al-Kharid.)

If you want to leave "however" in, the punctuation would be:

"Ask him about the pyramid; however, he will tell you he needs an Al-Kharid flier to copy the documents. (You could get one of these from the boy advertising north of the mining pit in Al-Kharid.)

Now head back to Al-Kharid using a ring of dueling or by walking and get your desert gear and items ready. Make sure you have armour, weapon, food, prayer potion (If you're below 70 prayer), knife, a willow log, 20 Fire runes, wine, spice, grain, pot, hammer, and a saw. Also before you leave make sure you have put the spice you have in your wine and put the grain you have in your pot. Finally, Head back to the pyramid by taking the carpet to Uzer and traveling south.

Needs commas to clarify/de-run-on the first two phrases I bolded, and the word "head" should start with a lower-case letter.

Now head back to Al-Kharid, using a ring of dueling or by walking, and get your desert gear and items ready. Make sure you have armour, weapon, food, prayer potion (If you're below 70 prayer), knife, a willow log, 20 Fire runes, wine, spice, grain, pot, hammer, and a saw. Also, before you leave, make sure you have put the spice you have in your wine and put the grain you have in your pot. Finally, head back to the pyramid by taking the carpet to Uzer and traveling south."

Now head east (Passed a few level 41 scarabs) to pick up two more Canopic Jars and a mummy with no hands (You are able to combine the mummy hands with the mummy).

"Passed" should be "past", and it should be THREE Canopic Jars.

" Now head east (past a few level 41 scarabs) to pick up three more Canopic Jars and a mummy with no hands (you are able to combine the mummy hands with the mummy)."

(If you're thinking I'm incorrect about past/passed, see #2 in the preposition section here :P: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/past )

After across, head to the room with sarcophagus and start repairing.

Should be "After you're across" or "After you get across".

As I said up-thread, it's looking really good - nicely organized, and a good balance of text and pictures.

This is a complicated quest. I managed the quest without a lot of these items. Survival items aren't neccesary at all. For 75%, there are many ways of doing it. You should mention that.

Recommended Items: Dramen Staff/Lunar Staff (Code DLQ), A bit over 300 or 400gp for carpet rides, Prayer Potion (You will lose prayer for helping re-make some statues), Amulet of Glory (3+), and Ring of dueling (4+).

A bit over. Great. At least 400 gp for carpet rides.

Scroll down to the end of the guide for a 'Fast Quest Walkthrough'.

I recommend linking to it.

I recommend capitalising Glory, since you capitalised Explorer.

Now enter the gates and take the carpet ride to Uzer.

Or you could walk.

Direction? East/west.

This will bring it life and it will become a Skeleton Looter (Level 41).

Bring it to life.

He asked me for spring. ;)

Now head back to Al-Kharid, using a ring of dueling or by walking,

Using either a ring of duelling..

If your weapon doesn't have a crush attack, remove your weapon and use your hands. (Hands work as well)

Mention hands are a crush style.

Some of the tasks do not have to be totally completed in order to reach 75% completion. After you've done a good portion of the tasks above, head west and kill the first level 41 Tumeken's Shadow.

East.

Wow, you're incredibly good at finding my mistakes. Thanks ;)

The three canopic jars are split, one is to the west and two are to the east. I put them in two different steps.

Now I think I'm going to wait and see if someone can confirm for me that this is 100% done, seeing as I've been wrong two times before.

Just say it's 100% but final checking still needed, that way Sal will come looking soon, rather than in a weeks time if you put it as 100% tomorrow...

Interesting fact: if you pray at the statue of Amascut, your prayer is boosted in a rather painful way. Your prayer is boosted by 2-4 points above the maximum but you get about 10hp damage.

It only happens though after you fix all the statues

He asked me for spring.

He does ask for spring - and the quest journal says spring - but actually takes any season.

I'd never done the spring maze, and got so fed up trying to get through it  that I decided to experiment and try autumn (which I've got down pat)... and Ali took it, no problem.

<smacks self in forehead> Duh, I missed the first sentence regarding the first jar. :P

I have one more suggestion, if you've got time to implement it - it might be worth letting people know, somewhere at the end, which restoration activities give XP for which skills.

As I understand it, the total XP available is:

5,000 Magic XP if you killl all 5 shadows - 300 xp for 1st, 600 xp for the 2nd, 900 for the 3rd, 1,200 for the 4th, 2,000 for the 5th.

2,100 Cooking XP for either the grain or the wine (for whichever one you do second, I think).

6,500 Prayer XP if you restore all the statues.

4,200 Construction XP - 2,100 XP each for the chair and table.

3,350 Crafting XP - 450 XP for building the statue, 900 XP for improving it, 2,000 XP for finishing it.

I believe you also get Thieving XP when you give the sq'irk juice to Ali - same amount you'd get from Osman, exactly how much depending on what season - but that definitely needs verification.

Also, here's the 100% completion graphic if you have use for it:

mummycompletion.png

editing to add: You probably know this, but that's the screen which comes up when you "check-progress" with either the Journal or the Scroll of the Dead.

I don't know, should I put that as like the extra stuff after the quest or what?

Really nice guide Full Mith777, it looks great! :P It's detailed, well written, and I'm sure it will be a huge help to people looking for a guide on this quest. Great work!

-Accepted- ;)

That's where it would fit best, I think... since the XP is basically an extra reward.

If you want, I can write it up more formally a bit later tonight & post it to this thread. (Got to go run the dogs before it gets dark.... otherwise I'll have no peace. ;) ) Only part I'm not sure of is the thieving XP for the sq'irk juice, since it's not mentioned in what Jagex lists in the quest rewards.

Oh, and congrats on acceptance! I just noticed the thread has moved.

Editing to add: Since the thread's been moved to "Accepted Content", I'll post the XP rewards listing in the Guides-in-Progress area.

You can still edit the guide here, you just have to tell Sal what's changed...

And congratulations on the acceptance :-)

I hope I'm not too late with this map, I don't know if you are allowed to change things when they have been accepted

Section on the XP rewards is posted; complete aside from needing verification as to whether the Prayer XP is per statue or a lump sum at the end (and if it's per statue, how much for each). It can be used as-is, though.
