Erebus 8 Posted April 27, 2010 "Recon Four to control. Requesting permission to take off." Jason said sitting in the cockpit of the FR-22 he had been given. It was a weird jet for Jason. The general flight control sof the F-22 were still there but all the weapons systems had been stripped from the fighter and replaced with recon equipment most of which simply transmitted back to a team of scientists that would analyze the video feeds from his cameras in real time. Why they had striped out an F-22 for this kind of mission he didn't know but he was just one of ten pilots and he was the only one with an F-22. Most of the other pilots had been given more traditional planes like U-2s and one had somehow even gotta assigned a retrofitted Blackbird and Jason was slightly jealous of that pilot as he had always wanted to fly something that fast. As it was though he was content with the F-22 as it was still a jet and not a slower recon craft. "Recon Four you are clear for takeoff. Please use runway two." The Flight Controller's voice came over Jason's headset as he taxied onto the runway and started on down the runway. Once Airborne Jason immediately started the flight back towards Hamburg since he didn't have any wingmen and he wanted to get this flight over as quickly as possible so he could get some sleep. As he broke out over open water however he got an uneasy feeling about this mission. The F-22 was in fine order but now that he was thinking about it the mission to observe odd mutations seemed a little odd. Aircraft had a harder time catching smaller creatures which meant the things they were being sent to find were most likely big and big zombies didn't sound good to Jason. Sacred 0 Posted April 30, 2010 "Alright team move out." O'reilly said after everyone was on the ground and he started moving towards the crane. Henry followed at a slow trot watching the buildings around the construction zone carefully. He was glad the construction zone was mostly just a wide flat area with a few unfinished buildings frames here and there. It provided a large amount of open space for them to spot any zombies that decided to investigate their group and it was fairly easy to travel over. As Henry reached the base of the crane he looked up at the platform well above his head searching for some sign of a ladder. "Captain over here." Lieutenant Schultz called to O'reilly but Henry looked anyways to see hims tanding at the base of one of the supporting beams which had a ladder on the side. "Good work Lieutenant. Alright everyone we're going up. Cole and Schultz you're up first everyone fall in behind them and don't slip." O'reilly barked in his usual authoritatrian tone and Henry jogged over to the Ladder to start climbing up behind Schultz. The climb was long and twice they had to walk along catwalks to get to the next ladder but when they reached the top they were realized to find the main platform devoid of zombie life. "Looks like we're the only living things up here." Henry said as he wandered around the platform. "Out here maybe. Check the control house that's where we'll probably sleep so check to make sure that's clear." Schultz said gesturing towards the door of the large control house. "Yes sir." Henry replied walking over and opening the door. Quickly scanning the room didn't see anything so he started walking around the quiet controls and checking the few side rooms which were mostly empty. "Nothing here Lieutenant. We're good to set up camp." Henry said as he dropped his pack next to one of the control panels and sat down in an operators chair. "Copy that." Schultz said with a rare smile and the Lieutenant leaned over the railing to shout down to O'reilly. "We're All good up here Captain. From the looks of things this place will do. Have everyone come up and get settled."
The Leet World 0 Posted April 30, 2010 Byron hesitated to run back, but he shook it off and ran towards home. Unlocking the door quickly, he shouted, "Mom, pack lightly, don't forget to add some food, and follow the orders of the soldiers. The zombies are running over this part of the safe area. I'll be out helping the soldiers, don't worry about me. I got my phone, keep it on as much as you can." With that, he gave a quick kiss to his mother and ran out the door. The soldier he had talked to earlier had now been backing up towards him, and Byron could see some of the other soldiers being pinned down by the zombies in the distance. C'mon guys... delred 3 Posted May 1, 2010 John looked over his shoulder and saw the other soldiers were being overpowered by the zombies. He turned back and continued running when he saw the boy heading in his direction. "They swarming over us get out of here and don't hang around!" He yelled at him. He ran over to him and pulled him away saying, "They have no hope, don't waste time for them."
The Leet World 0 Posted May 2, 2010 Following the soldiers advice, Byron turned back and saw his mother already running ahead of them. Byron knew that if they kept running towards the city, then they would destroy the whole safe zone with the zombies on their tail. The only option he had now was to bait them back to their own territory. He turned to his running comrade. "Hey, soldier boy. Heh. There's only one way to keep em out of this area, we got to bait them out of here by ourselves, and somehow find a way back in. You got one of those walkie talkies or at least some other guards number on there?"
delred 3 Posted May 2, 2010 OOC: Short post. IC:John pulled out his walkie talkie and showed it too the boy hoping that this plan would work. "So what's this plan of yours?" he paused before saying, "By the way my name is John."
Click This 78 Posted May 4, 2010 IC: Naomi was the first to reach the platform, followed by John. Yes, here is where I can shine, thought Naomi. She unbuckled her wrapped sniper rifle from her shoulder briefcase and readied it for use. "You'll have to introduce me your commanding officer sometime soon. It's imperative that we maintain a chain of command and understanding with the addition survivors such as Gray and I to your party," said Naomi. "You guys should also avoid overestimating the stability of this platform. It's not anchored on anything solid --The work was probably halted before any foundations were built. I'm still not sure how smart those zombies are." "You see those foundations below us?" asked Naomi, pointing at the foundations of the crane. The rest of the group was now arriving on the platform. "If they ram those in groups, this thing would probably topple over. We're going to have to work our asses off to prevent any possibilty of that --And they already know we're here." "If they ram those in groups, this thing would probably topple over. We're going to have to work our asses off to prevent any possibilty of that --And they already know we're here." "You act as thou they have a chance of even reaching the pillars." John replied off hand as he walked around the edge of the platform looking for the best possible vantage point. He found it, in the corner of the platform. From there he could easily cover two sides of the crane at any given moment. Robbert followed suit and propped his sniper rifle on the small rail that ran across the side of the platform. Reinforcing the field of fire for those two sides of the crane. "You seriously underestimate my skill. We have a clear shot for most of the surrounding areas. Which means that the majority of the targets can easily be picked off at range. Far from the foundations." John popped the plastic caps that protected the lens's on his scope from the ever present sand and dust, as he spoke, before pocketing them. Peering through the scope he was rewarded with not spotting any Zombies. So far, so good. O'Flinn thought. Thou she is right... Things will soon change. Reaching into a vest pocket he withdrew two clips of ammo before letting them slide back into his pocket. It was too risky to set them on the open floor of the platform, where one might kick them off. Ammo was extremely important, and he could not risk it. Nor could he risk a delay in loading. By leaveing a pocket or two open, he accomplished the best of both worlds: increased speed to reload, while still keeping his ammo supply intact. "Still good on ammo?" John asked Richardson. "Yeah," Richardson replied. ~John Edited May 6, 2010 by John Adams
Click This 78 Posted May 4, 2010 IC: "Only considering the worst case scenario," replied Naomi, attaching the scope onto her rifle. "By the way, if you're worried about ammo, I have a stash of 7.62 NATO cartridges in the train if you use those." she smiled slightly. "It would be slightly hard to get it now, though, don't you think?" Naomi started to scan the North face of the platform with a pair of binoculars. "So, who is the head of this team?" Erebus 8 Posted May 4, 2010 (edited) OOC: I'm bored. Taking over some of the NPCs so the story can progress enough for Jason to fly back over Hamburg, IC: "Then they better have some heavy duty zombies." Lieutenant Schultz said in his thick German accent a he walked over to stand next to Naomi. "Each of those pillars is a marvel of German engineering. We call these super cranes 'gottes kran' in German which means God's Crane. There are only three such cranes in all of Germany, this one here was placed here to help transform this section of the city into a major commercial hub and it was built to last for a number of years until construction is complete." Schutlz then gave Naomi an appraising look raising his right eyebrow as he looked at her. There are also most definitely solid foundations. You look but you don't see. What you look at are the metal beams that form the surface supports. If you payed attention on the ground you would noticed the bottom of those are buried and starting fifteen or twenty feet below the soil is a massive concrete block. That concrete block anchors this gottes kran in place and it's not moving. This is Germany. We don't make things that are meant to fall over. "Now if you're worried about the supports don't. They are made of hardened German steel, the finest in the world. The gottes kran in Dusseldorf had one of its supports caught in the blast of a terrorist attack before it was caught in the hotzone. The terrorist rammed the supports and detonated a dump truck of explosives that completely destroyed the lower portions of two of the supports. The other six still held it up." Lieutenant Schultz said in a loving tone as he looked at the crane admiringly before he turned back to Naomi. "Now, where's the kid we found in the warehouse. We have to figure out how we're going to get you two extracted." He said his tone quickly to a more serious one as he began looked around for Gray. Click This 78 Posted May 4, 2010 IC: "I see. About the extraction --Actually, I'd like to join the UERF. I wasn't intending to ever serve in the law enforcement or the armed forces again, but things have changed," said Naomi, solemnly. "I don't think going back to Britain and worrying every second of our lives of a zombie attack is the ideal thing. There's much more that I can do on the field than off it." "All the people that I know and are important to me are in Britain. For me, I have one more thing to fight for. That is probably why I am still holding out here today." John Adams 2 Posted May 4, 2010 (edited) IC: "Yeah it would." John replied. "Ughto." Richardson said. "'Ughto'" O"Flinn repeated, what do you mean by 'ughto'?" "As in, look at all the movement on the roofs of the houses and around them." Richardson said. "Oh," John said, swiveling to examine the houses. "If it is going to be an extraction, Lieutenant Schultz, it is going to have to be a hot one. There is alot of movement by the houses. I doubt a chopper can get here before they do." ~John Edited May 6, 2010 by John Adams
Click This 78 Posted May 4, 2010 IC: "Well, we'll just have to hold off until then. Like Lieutenant Schultz said, we're well fortified at this location," replied Naomi. "They can't overrun us in the hour or two a chopper would take to get here. All of us here are professionals."
Fake 113 Posted May 4, 2010 IC: Grabbing Gray, by his shirt, Bryon took him to Shultz, "Here's the kid," Bryon said, "I don't think he has anywhere to go, hsi family went down in a plane crash and he was one of the survivors. All the others got picked off by zombies. If he told me the truth, then he's not infected." Bryon paused and said, "Naoimi, when day approaches, if you want, me and you can go to the train and get your ammo, if you need it. Any other men who wish to provide backup can come to," Bryon told her. "Although, we should have one of the snipers stay if you do want to go through with this mission." Erebus 8 Posted May 5, 2010 OOC: I'll just keep controlling NPCs for a bit. "If you want to join the UERF you'll have to take that up with someone in UERF command." O'reilly said in a gruff voice as he reached the top of the ladder and walked towards Naomi, Schutlz and the others around them. "We don't just take in civilians off the street even if you're a super elite, ex marine, SEAL, Delta Operative and anything you want to add on. Protocol is protocol and we can't have civilians slowing us down." As O'reilly finished Schultz was about to speak again but a sharp look from O'reilly shut him up as O'reilly looked at the oncoming group of zombies. As O'reilly turned way Schultz simply looked at Naomi and shrugged, his expression one of disappointment at the Captain's decision. "For the moment however we need everyone here. From the radio reports I've been getting two other teams have already been neutralized. It seems the zombie threat is more dire than we anticipated." As O'reilly said this a series of loud shrieks could be heard from below and looking over the railing of the platform he watched a horribly mutated zombie with an oversize head and neck emitting a loud wail on a rooftop below them. "Somebody take that god damned thing out." O'reilly said as the wailing got louder causing O'reilly to cover his ears as they began to throb from the noise. John Adams 2 Posted May 5, 2010 "Roger that." John replied. Already he could feel the effects of nausua setting in. Peering through the scope he could just makeout the source of the noise. Flicking the safety off he began quickly adjusting for wind and elevation. Fireing one shot he watched as the creature remained upright, the sound unabaiting. Damn it. John thought as he squeezed off another round. This time it worked, and the sound ended. Slowly the pain in John's head decreased. ~John
Erebus 8 Posted May 6, 2010 When the sound stopped O'reilly picked himself off the floor of the platform, a slight trickle of blood coming out of his right ear. His head ached and his eyesight was a bit blurry but he managed to stand up and as his eyesight cleared a bit he saw the zombies making a rush for the crane, some grabbing steel cables that were attached to the supports and starting to scamper along them. "Take those damn things out!" O'reilly shouted as he rested his rifle on the railing of the platform and started firing in short burst at the zombies on the cables. John Adams 2 Posted May 6, 2010 Popping in a pair of earplugs, John began shooting. The rapid fireing of the Mk11, and Mp7 joined into the fray as John and Richardson opened fire at a completely different angle. "Kinda of busy," John shouted as he and Richardson took aim at two large, targets still in the distance. The first five bullets hit dead center, causeing the first creature to fall dead. The second followed shortly. Swiveling O'Flinn took aim at the large hoard heading for the pillar almost directly below him. Taking aim at the lead zombies he managed to take out a few before his clip ran empty. In one quick motion O'Flinn ejected the spent magazine, pocketing it, before placeing a fresh one into the gun. ~John
Erebus 8 Posted May 6, 2010 OOC: MP7 is a sub-machine gun. The G22 is Richardson's sniper rifle. and I don't know what's up with Sacred... He should be posting... IC: Moments after O'reilly had started firing Schultz added his own fire from his G36 to the fray as he worked to keep the zombies off the supports. "Captain! We need people on the other sides of the platform. We can't cover all the Pillars from here!" Schultz said as he noticed zombies escaping out of view under the crane. "Sant, Young, Bran, Cole! Get to the other sides and hold them off. We need to keep this platform secure!" O'Reilly shouted turning his head to look at those still scrambling for their weapons. Once he had given the order he turned back to look at the zombies when a large blurred shape whizzed by his head and slammed into the side of the control room with a loud metallic clank. Quickly scanning the group of zombies he found a pair with massive arms grabbing nearby zombies and chucking them at the soldiers in the crane, the throw zombies slamming against the sides at enough force to reduce them to little more than broken heaps of flesh and blood. "Captain, the throwers!" Schultz barked as he opened fire right before O'Reilly on the two large zombies who stumbled as the bullets ripped into them but they kept throwing until after taking a few bullets to various parts of it's body one stumbled and fell flat on its face. Fake 113 Posted May 8, 2010 IC: Bryon conserved his ammo, and did not spray with his AK47. He took aim and effectively began taking out the zombies. He had no time to look at anyone else and continued to shoot down the closest zombies. "John," Bryon said, "Snipe the throwers, I'll take care of the zombies for you." Bryon started to take apart more zombies and started to focus less on conserving ammo.

He had no time to look at anyone else and continued to shoot down the closest zombies. "John," Bryon said, "Snipe the throwers, I'll take care of the zombies for you." Bryon started to take apart more zombies and started to focus less on conserving ammo. IC: "Roger that." John replied shifting his aim to target the hulking creatures. With one hand he twisted the knob in one swift jerk, adjusting for range. With the other he pulled the rifle closer still to his shoulder. Beside him Richardson was doing the same. The first volley hit their target. Staggering slightly under the fire, the thrower zombie stumbled for a moment before grabbing the two nearest zombies and flinging them towards the tower. Either by force or design, the two zombies sailed for the snipers. Forceing both to go flat, to avoid the missiles. Damn, John muttered. as he stood up again and took aim at the thrower zombie. The next volley brought the first thrower zombie down. Two sucessive volleys brought down the second thrower zombie. Two down, many more to go... John thought as he took aim at the third zombie. Richardson fired first and the Zombie staggered slightly. Causeing John to narrowly hit his mark as the thrower zombie lunged forwards, grabbing at its' two next victims. A second volley brought the zombie down, before it had a chance to unleash its' missiles. Two loud crashes lower down announced that another thrower zombie had been more fortunate. Thumbing the release switch, John took aim at the next thrower zombie while he popped a fresh clip into his gun. After a two second delay, John fired again. ~John
Click This 78 Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) IC: "Need help?" said Naomi, staggering slightly to the two snipers. The shrieking zombie had taken a toll on all of them. Taking aim through the scope, she shot the thrower zombie clean through the neck, and its head fell off. She unfocused her scope and quickly scanned the onslaught of zombies. "Looks like there are maybe fifty!" yelled Naomi to the others, after reaching a quick conclusion. "This would be a great time for an airstrike." She quickly refocused her aim and shot at the first five zombies with six quick shots to the head. Naomi jammed a new clip into her rifle and took aim again, only to notice a flying zombie heading right for Naomi and the others. It flew over her head as she ducked and landed with a loud thud on the platform. "Zombie on the platform!!" Naomi turned around to see the zombie recovering from its fall and dashing towards the three, swiping with deadly and bloodied claws. Throwing her rifle to her left hand, she withdrew her knife from the outer pockets of her bag and parried the zombie's blow. After engaging it in combat for a few more seconds, she was pinned to the platform railing. "Great time for some help here," said Naomi, grimacing as she shore through one of the zombie's nails. Ivar moved to help Naomi. "Can you get his attention away from me?" yelled Naomi. "I'll get him when he's distracted." As Ivar got closer, the zombie finally noticed him and turned its head to look at him. At that moment, Naomi slashed at its neck, and as soon as Naomi and the others were far enough away from any collateral damage, Ivar gunned it down with thirty rounds from his assault rifle. OOC: Fake, I've added some more to Quicktopics. I'm probably almost ready to go in-depth on characters and thus the entire storyline. Sacred 0 Posted May 21, 2010 OOC: Oh and if anyone notices apps that I missed adding onto the front page let me know. And I added some more NPCs that will be inserted in due time. And School's out. IC: As Henry reached the far side of the platform, his ears still bleeding from the screeching zombie he found more zombies already halfway of up the supports, their long arms and legs scampering up the supports as they rushed for the platform. Resting his SCAR on the railing of the platform and opened fire in short three round bursts and as the first couple zombies began to fall the others began scrambling up faster trying to reach the platform before they were hit and Henry was only able to knock another one off before they were reaching the platform. Slamming the butt of his rifle into the face of the first zombie to reach the platform Henry knocked it lose and turned ready to rush for the other support where a group of three zombies were clambering on the platform. As he turned however Heather dropped from where she had been on top of the control room, he two MP7s out and blazing as she methodically cut through the cluster of zombies trying to get on top. "Jesus Cole, I thought you were actually good at shooting things." Heather said with a wink before moving around to another side of the platform leaving Henry to continue picking off the few zombies still left of his side of the platform.
