The Chaos Dwarf Battlefield

Recommended Posts

Read:

Hello Sals ! This will be the guide that I have planned on writing for so long . This is because I really wanted to do something for this community and the Dwarven Battlefield would be the only one thing that I can call myself an 'expert' (Exaggerated actually :o )

As I'm a Chinese , I'm not very good at English , feel free to point out mistakes when I'm in progress , show no mercy ! :wizard:

This guide does not completely follow the guidelines since there are extra parts such as 'The strategies' and 'What to bring'.

Guides 'Damis' Lair', 'Gorak Slaying' and 'God Wars Dungeon' are used as reference for the format. If the wrong format is going to be the reason that my guide is declined, please contact me ingame or by PM and I will try to change them ASAP. Thanks.

The Chaos Dwarf Battlefield

Written by : Inca

Special Thanks to : Ambo100, Pk_Forever, Luke1 and Joyful_Lemon

The Chaos Dwarf Battlefield is a small cave connecting Keldagrim and the Red Axe produces Chaos Dwarves, it is introduced with the Forgiveness of a Chaos Dwarf quest. After the quest, The Black Guards battle the Chaos Dwarf forces to prevent invasion to the Keldagrim mines. It is located at the Southwest corner of the city hidden by a gold ore vein.

Required Quest(s):

Recommended Quest(s):

Recommended Skills:

This area was simply an empty opening which is used during the quest Forgiveness of a Chaos Dwarf. However, be aware that the area, after the quest, becomes dangerous if not well prepared as it's filled with potentially aggressive monsters.

What To Bring:

recommendedequip.png

Melee Method:

  • If using Barrows sets, Guthan's > Dharok's > Torag's
  • Helmet: Dragon Full Helmet > Helm of Neitiznot > Dragon Med Helmet
  • Amulet: Amulet of Fury > Amulet of Glory > Guthix Stoles
  • Torso: Torag's Platebody > Dragon Platebody > Fighter Torso
  • Weapon: Zamorakian Spear > Leaf Bladed Sword

For the other parts, anything is fine as long as a high stab attack bonus and a high crush defence bonus is maintained.

Ranged Method:

  • Helmet: Guthix Coif > Helm of Neitiznot
  • Amulet: Amulet of Ranging > Amulet of Fury > Amulet of Glory > Guthix Stole
  • Torso: Guthix Body > Black Dragonhide Body
  • Legs: Guthix Chaps > Black Dragonhide Chaps
  • Weapon: Rune Crossbow (Broad Tipped Bolts) > Crystal Bow

For the other parts, anything is fine as long as a high magic dense bonus is maintained.

prayer123.png

Prayer Method:

  • Helmet: Helm of Neitiznot > Proselyte Sallet
  • Amulet: Any god Stole > Amulet of Fury > Amulet of Glory
  • Torso: Proselyte Hauberk > Initiate Hauberk
  • Legs: Proselyte cuisse > Initiate Cuisse
  • Cape: Soul Wars cape > Ardougne cape 3 > Cape of Achievement (t)
  • Shield: Falador shield 3 > God Books > Rune Defender

NOTE: Avoid wearing Zamorak or Saradomin items as they may sometimes result in aggression of the opposing sides. (Holy Symbol, God Books etc.)

Chaos Dwogres which use a Crush attack when you're nearby and a magic attack when you are out of his melee range is the main monster that you will encounter within.

If using the prayer method, you will only be fighting Chaos Dwarf Cannoneers and Chaos Dwarves.

NOTE: This guide will lead you to avoid aggression of other monsters in the area if you choose the Melee or Ranging method.

Using the prayer method may decrease your profit or even bring to you a loss if you are not high level enough,

Make sure you have a decent defense level.

Wear Guthan's Armour if you are planning to melee, and Black Dragonhide if you plan on ranging. The crush defense of Guthan's Armour is fair and its ability to heal is very useful for a long stay. Black dragonhide is known for its magic defense, a mind or a body shield is good if you need extra magic defense.

If using the melee or prayer method, bring a Hand Cannon Shot with you to save an inventory space.

NOTE: A Ring of Wealth does not affect the drop rate of Hand Cannons, Hand Cannon Shots and Dragon Pickaxes.

NOTE: Barrows armour completely degrades when appeared under a gravestone, before you're familiar with the place, wearing Runite armour would be a good alternative. However, wear a chainbody as it provide a greater crush defence bonus,

inven.png

Your inventory should look like this. Not much food is needed because the monsters seldom fight back. The Protect from Ranged prayer is a must in case the cannoneers fight back, so a few prayer potions is recommended. A stock of quick ranged weapon such as darts and knives would be helpful for dealing damage to dying monsters for drops, while rangers can treat them as extra ammo.

Summoning familiars are not recommended unless you are using a Bunyip or a Unicorn Stallion for their healing ability.

Random events will make all monsters aggressive. A one-click teleport to escape is important. If you have portals and an altar at your house, a House tab is recommended, if not, use a Lumbridge tab or Ectophial.

Leave more than 10 empty spaces since the drops are of different variety.

Getting There:

gettingthere.png

One can travel to Keldagrim by the cart system or the train system and then travel on foot to the west side of Keldagrim, however, this is extremely inconvenient and is not recommended. Getting to the Chaos Dwarf Battlefield by entering Keldagrim through the main entrance is the fastest access. A quick access to the battlefield is very important when you are not familiar with the place as death is not uncommon. Although this guide will tell you all the important things to notice, it is still recommended.

Via The Fairy Rings : The Fairy Rings (Code DKS , Snowy Hunter Area) can teleport you to 1 click away from the Keldagrim Entrance .

Via Teleports to Rellekka : Teleport to Rellekka and walk Northeast

Via The Mine Carts System : Climb in the trapdoor at The Grand Exchange and walk to the West side of the city.

keldaentrance.png

Once you are inside Keldagrim, talk to the Boatman to cross the river, Walk west and you will find yourself in front of a cave opening, before you go any further, activate the Protect from Ranged prayer since there is a glitch that sometimes you will be swarmed by the inhabitants even without making them aggressive .

battlefieldtunnel.png

Inside the Dungeon:

grendasaystroll.png

Inside the dungeon you will see the Black Guard battling the Red Axe, the entire area is multicombat and both sides will become aggressive when one of them is attacked.

Note that the Chaos Dwogres at far west of the battlefield are never aggressive and attacking them will not result in aggression of the Red Axe side.

All monsters of the Red Axe side is known for dropping the Dragon Pickaxe with a slim drop rate of approximately 0.05%. Apart from the Dragon Pickaxe, the Chaos Dwarf Hand Cannoneers drop the Hand Cannon, which is rare, and Hand Cannon Shots, which are fairly common, Green Charm is also very common from Chaos Dwogres, making killing of the Red Axe side more profitable than killing the Black Guard side.

It is not recommended to attack any of the monsters except the Chaos Dwogres until the monsters in the area are tolerant (Not aggresive anymore).

A tactic to survive in the area for a long period of time is to attack the Chaos Dwogres for 20-25 minutes before killing Chaos Dwarf Handcannoneers and Chaos Dwarves.

itemsny.png

NOTE: It is unknown if this is intended or a glitch, if you are too near from the west opening of the battlefield, all monsters will become aggressive.

NOTE: Wearing god items of Zamorak will make the Black Guard side aggressive when you enter, watch what you equip!

NOTE: Another glitch. After staying for around two hours, all monsters may become aggressive any time, keep track of the time.

NOTE: As I mentioned, if you encounter a random event, activate the Protect from Ranged prayer before finishing and escape from the the battlefield immediately.

The Strategies:

As stated, make sure you have activated the Protect from Ranged prayer before entry. If you are safe inside, you can turn it off unless you are using the prayer method.

It is suggested to set the Protect from Ranged prayer as your Quick Prayer for safety.

If you're using the Melee and Ranging method, you should only kill Chaos Dwogres for the first 10-15 minutes. After that, kill a black guard to see if the whole Black Guard side becomes aggressive. If they are not tolerant of you yet, leave the battlefield, change world and try again. Testing your tolerance on chaos dwarves is dangeous since hand cannoneers can hit over 300.

If using the Prayer method, keep your Protect from Ranged prayer on for the first 10-15 minutes until nothing is aggresive,

Try to stay further from the west side to avoid being piled.

This place is similar to the God Wars Dungeon, if you have dealt even the slightest damage of 1LP, the drop of that monster is yours. Lower levels can concentrate on 'tagging' dying dwarves for a high kill rate.

Read all the 'NOTES' in the above section, those are noticible things and glitches that may kill you in a matter of seconds if you are not careful.

Your First Twenty Minutes :

The Ranged Method:

rangedmethod.png

Stand at the yellow point in the picture.(The purple dots are dwogres.) This point is out of melee range of all the dwogres and can make sure you are not attacked by more than 1 hand cannoneer in case the Red Axe side is aggressive.

The Melee Method:

meleemethod.png

Remember not to stand too close to the West side of the battlefield and you will be safe. The Guthan's Armour often heals you but don't rely too much on it.

The Prayer Method:

Even if you have a decent defense level, avoid being piled by staying at the East side of the battlefield.

After Your First Twenty Minutes:

You can now attack everything you want in the battlefield without risking your life. Concentrating on cannoneers being attacked is wise, but make sure you swiftly flip on your Protect from Ranged prayer when they attack you. To notice that the cannoneers are changing their target, try to attack them from the back.

Rangers should change their weapon to Knives or Darts now. And meleers can use them to finish dying Chaos Dwarves (Lv48).

knife.png

Good Luck!

equipment.png

Inhabitants:

doneyl.png

Colonel Grenda is the only non-attackable NPC in the area. Talking to her will provide information on the chaos dwarves, Hand Cannons about their backfiring and exploding attribute and the Dragon Pickaxe.

berserker.png

The Black Guard Berserkers - Lv66 are the finest warrior among the Black Guard force, they are very powerful for their combat level, similar to 'Pure' players. You can find a few of them at the East side of the battlefield. Low levels can lead chaos dwarves to them for faster kills.

blackguard.png

The Black Guards - Lv48 battle the chaos dwarves to prevent invasion to Keldagrim. They greatly draw the attention of the chaos dwarves so it is wise not to make them aggressive.

crossbowdwarf.png

The Black Guard Crossbowdwarves - Lv83 are trained to use ranged attack, multiple of them attacking a common enemy may result in massive damage, they are as dangerous as cannoneers when they are aggressive although their max hit is only 100.

chaosyx.png

The Chaos Dwarves - Lv48 are produced by the Red Axe, contrary to popular belief, they actually drop Dragon Pickaxe with similar drop rate to that of cannoneers, just slightly lower. If one want only a Dragon Pickaxe but not other drops, it is recommended to kill them as they are the easiest to kill among the Chaos Dwarf side.

cannon.png

The Chaos Dwarf Hand Cannoneers - Lv100 are also produced by the Red Axe, they are known for hitting over 300 so extra attention is required when confronted alone. They are the only monsters in the area which drop Hand Cannons and Hand Cannon Shots.

dwogre.png

The Chaos Dwogres - Lv117 are combinations of Dwarves and Ogres, the newest experiment of the Red Axe. They use a melee attack and an accurate magic attack. They seldom move when engaged in combat and uses their magic attack once you leave their melee range, be careful if you are wearing armour with negative magic defence bonus. Their drop rate of Dragon Pickaxe is the highest among all monsters of the Red Axe side. They are never aggressive and attacking them will not result in aggression of the Red Axe side.

This is it, my guide.

Thanks to Joyful_Lemon and the whole Sals CC for the suggestions, I love you all.

Ambo100 helped me soooo much with the guide, he did loads of tranaparency for me (Wait, he did all of them)!

Can't wait to see if this thing will be approved or not !!

As long as the picture is not on another site and you give credit to that person it is okay. Also, when editing you topic with links or pictures, your post will disspear (we must approve it) since you're a new member. After you get 15 posts this function dissapears.

Consider drawing a route from the G.E - This is what I always use (Via Train Carts).

Seems obvious but make sure you say that one of the main reasons people fight there is that the only monsters thet drop the dragon pickaxe, handcannon and handcannon shots are there.

I can't find any spelling mistakes but there is a problem with your punctuation.

All the commas, colons and fullstops have a gap after the word.

Walk west and you will find yourself in front of a cave opening , before you go any further , activate the Protect From Ranged prayer ,

Should be:

Eek, I'll change them, but that's my habit, didn't know it would be mistakes.

Gonna be a pain!!!!

In reccomended skills add 70+ attack and strength

Ah, 75+ Attack would be better, but I don't think strength is required 'cuz of that number of helping hands. Thanks for the idea, though.

That route is kinda slow, but yeah, I think I should add it.

I think it will be included in 'Inside The Dungeon' , thanks .

75 attack isn't really nessecery as all that offers is the godswords you can kill efficiently with a whip or a saradomin sword so I think you shold change it to 70

Speaking of that.... you're right, they are weak to stab and crush anyway. Changed.

EDIT : I slept in every English lesson so I might mess up Advice and Advise; Defence and Defense. Please point out mistakes while proofreading

EDIT : WOW !!? I misspelled 'aggressive'. Took me like half an hour to fix.

GUIDE FINISHED.

As I still haven't find the picture of a Cannon stats screen, I excluded it from the guide.

I think it is ready for submit but I will proofread it (and wait for people to ) while I wait for approval.

I can say that the guide is of poor quality, however, in case this is declined, please leave a comment on what I can do to improve.

I don't mind this thing to be declined but I don't want my work to be shattered to dust.

Here is a guide on making transparent images. Your guides not quite done yet...

NOTE : Barrows armour completely degrades when appeared under a gravestone, before you're familiar with the place, wearing Runite armour would be a good alternative. However, wear a chainbody as it provide a greater crush defence bonus,

The last comma should be a full stop

NOTE : It is unknown if this is intended or a glitch, if you are too near from the west opening of the battlefield, all monsters will become aggressive.

NOTE : Wearing god items of Zamorak will make the Black Guard side aggressive when you enter, watch what you equip!

NOTE : Another glitch. After staying for around two hours, all monsters may become aggressive any time, keep track of the time.

NOTE : As I mentioned, if you encounter a random event, activate the Protect from Ranged prayer before finishing and escape from the the battlefield immediately.

The colons...

Moving your house to Rellekka may also be helpful .

The full stop is not necessary on a list.

You might want to go through and proofread the guide to see if everything makes sense.

I still need the original image of Colonel Grenda

I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I've fixed the equipment interface so that the border isn't cut off

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the ring of wealth does effect the drop rate of dragon picks, hand cannons, and hand cannon shots? Cause the ring affects normal drops, those are drops, not additional drops like a visage.
