Salmoneus Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Hey all, we've been offered an interview with Jagex on the new Gunnar's Ground quest! If you have any questions about the quest, share them here and Jagex will do their best to answer them! Thanks!
unknownzone8 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 My one question: Why couldnt you have just made Gunnars Ground a new quest instead of replacing Romeo and Juliet?
Egghebrecht Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) My one question: Why couldnt you have just made Gunnars Ground a new quest instead of replacing Romeo and Juliet? they already answered that one in the "romeo where art thou" developers blog so I don't think that it is a good question Edited September 22, 2010 by Egghebrecht
Yuanrang Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Since they stated their reasoning behind changing the quest was to provide a proper experience for players that quest, are we bound to see more quests be removed and changed? That goes for both Free to Play and Pay to Play.
Hunter Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Do you plan any new, higher levelled quests to be based within this area?
Thomas Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Do you feel 5 quest points was appropriate? Why not fix that balance problem of R&J with this quest as well?
Easl Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Why does Gunnar dress in such a, erm, provocative way, doesn't she get cold? Any chance we will see the return of Romeo and Juliet in future quests? (apart from defender of Varrock) What other quests will we see being removed/changed in the future? Doric's? Black Knights Fortress?
Hunter Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 @Easl: Doric's Quest and Black Knights Fortress are both unique to RuneScape, aren't they?
Easl Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 @Easl: Doric's Quest and Black Knights Fortress are both unique to RuneScape, aren't they? So was Cooks assistant, but you could buy everything for that quest, its the same with Dorics
Ambo100 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 How exactly did they inherent a mansion with gold trimmed furniture?
Samsara Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Do you plan to "revise" any P2P quests (or even areas!) in the near future?
Whiskas Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) Why won't Gunthor remember that I've passed the Fremennik trials even though I've told him several times? Why can't I tell him my Fremennik name? Why wasn't the tower graphically updated with the rest of the village? If Betrayal at Falador is considered canon, what happened to their hospitality? Why wasn't the tower graphically updated with the rest of the village? Not truly to do with the quest itself, but why do the barbarians have horns on their helmets and why do they call themselves barbarians? Do you plan on re-decorating Dororan's house seeing as he now has two big bedrooms and the bigger one upstairs has a lot of pink in it? Edited September 22, 2010 by Whiskas
Siemon Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Are any other quests likely to be replaced? Why not lower the Quest Points while you're at it? What about other quests involving R+J? What will happen to Juliet's house?
dexter Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) Aside from replacing other outdated quests, are we going to see any more new free-to-play content such as the recent Dungeoneering? Nice job scoring the interview. Edited September 22, 2010 by dexter
Merch Gwyar Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I believe that Romeo and Juliet were removed because, as Italian legendary characters, made famous by Shakespeare, they seemed out of place in the Runescape world. Gunther (Gunnar), Gudrun (Kriemhild) and Haakon (Hagen) are all Old Norse/Germanic/Burgundic heroic figures, made famous by Wagner and Tolkien. Why did you replace Romeo and Juliet with equally famous, legendary characters?
djpailo Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) -Will Romeo and Juliet ever be reverted to a mini-quest (for nostalgic reasons)? -In your developers blogs you write that you assumed people didn't find the quests exciting because many didn't complete it. How did you come to this assumption? How do we know that they simply weren't able to finish it? They are new players and in many cases they may not understand where the characters are or how to use the world map etc. -You have set the ball rolling by implying this could happen again in the future with other quests. One of the most important quests in Runescape is Dragon Slayer. It is the biggest F2P quest and even higher levelled players still use the useful Rune platebody. What assurances can you offer that this quest (mainly the storyline) will be left untouched? Edited September 22, 2010 by djpailo
Joyful Lemon Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Are you planning to release any sequels to this quest and will they be F2P
Ambo100 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) Why can't I tell him my Fremennik name? Barbarians aren't Fremenniks. Some Fremenniks are Barbarians. Edited September 22, 2010 by Ambo100
Yuanrang Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) Gunther (Gunnar), Gudrun (Kriemhild) and Haakon (Hagen) are all Old Norse/Germanic/Burgundic heroic figures, made famous by Wagner and Tolkien. Why did you replace Romeo and Juliet with equally famous, legendary characters? You're stretching. Gunnar, Gudrun and Haakon are all rather common Norwegian names today as well as being completely traditional since at least the Viking Age, I'm confident that JaGEx didn't take them from legendary characters mostly because of that. You had to draw similarities to figures to draw a connection whereas those names need no similiarities to other iconic figures of heroic figures, the names are stand alone as it. I'll even humor you. Since 1900, these are the highest recorded (accurately by our cencus beureau) percentage of the total Norwegian population: Gunnar - 2% of the male population as a highest for the past 110 years. Gudrun - 3% of the female population as a highest for the past 110 years. Håkon/Haakon - 2-3% of the male population as a highest for the past 110 years, combined with both spelling methods at the year they were the most common. So yeah, common enough to not require you to draw connections. Edited September 22, 2010 by Yuanrang
Uther Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Why waste time and developers on useless quests for new players when you could pay more attention to high level players? Why was Gunnar's Ground the only update of the week? Was it big like that?
Whiskas Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Why can't I tell him my Fremennik name? Barbarians aren't Fremenniks. Some Fremenniks are Barbarians. If you've done Fremennik trials and speak to Gunthor after the quest, he'll call you outlander but if you tell him that you passed the Fremennik trials in Rellekka he will become nicer to you.
Simple013 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) I have a question concerning Romeo and Juliet, I know the answers in the dev blog but there is one question that I think has not been asked. Why not make Romeo and Juliet a members quest. That would take care of the "wtf is this runescape all about" reason, since most new players start in F2p. They could even decide to not hand out quest points but just a 'distraction/diversion-quest'. That would also help them to replace other quests not to their liking. Ah well, good-bye Romeo, good-bye Juliet, sorry to see you go. If anything I would love to see Doctor Orbon axed. Question concerning the new quest: How long was the lead time for this quest? Helm Lardar Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) Was it intentional that Dororan be staring at Gudrun's chest? Any chance of seeing the dwarves graphical update in the next six months? Why are the two races of dwarves and humans cross-breeding? Isn't that incredibly odd? Edited September 22, 2010 by Helm Lardar
dark deemed Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Any other quests you plan on basing around Barbarian village, perhaps an S.O.S one? Any news about Preztel Bert?(I know is not bout barbarian village, but it came with the update.)
