100 Most Popular Albums

Recommended Posts

So, after seeing the top 100 movies thread, I thought i could do a similar thing for music. This list will be a bit different, in that it wont just be first come/first get on the list. Each user should nominate 10 or so of their favorite albums, in no particular order. I'll then order the list by votes/album. Simple.

List should be in Artist - Album structure

May as well start off myself:

Arcade Fire - Funeral

Mono - Walking Cloud and deep red sky

Boris - Flood

Boris - Variations

Streetlight Manifesto - Somewhere in the between

Godspeed you! Black emperor - Lift your skinny fists

Pixies - Doolittle

The Flaming Lips - Clouds Taste metallic

Is this really a fair way to judge the top 100 albums? The way this works is that the most nominated albums are going to end up on there. That means the albums aren't being judged by their quality but by popularity. A top notch album could go unnoticed because it's not from a generally favored genre. If you're going to keep this method in place, at least change the name to "Most Popular 100 Albums."

Personally I think it should just be artists, that way it's much easier to see who everyone likes. Anyway, it'd be hard to compile a decent list considering a lot of artists produce several albums each.

Anyway, in no particular order, except for number 1 being the best (OF ALL TIME):

Muse - HAARP

Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine

Muse - Black Holes and Revelations

Coldplay - X & Y

Disturbed - Asylum

Paramore - Brand New Eyes

Muse - Absolution

The Killers - Hot Fuss

Muse - Resistance

Muse - Origin of Symmetry

As you can see, I don't listen to a wide range of music.

This won't work very well as this is mainly based on opinion, for example if anything other than Deftones' White Pony gets top spot I will disagree.

Also no album by Arcade Fire, Lil Wayne or The Beatles would get a place on my top 1,000 albums

I've limited myself to one album per band or else this list could be four times as long

All that Remains - The Fall of Ideals

Breaking Benjamin - Phobia

Brotha Lynch Hung - Dinner and a Movie

Chronic Future - Lines in my Face

Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head

Crazy Town - Dark Horse

Cypress Hill - Rise Up

Deftones - White Pony

Disturbed - The Sickness

Fort Minor - The Rising Tied

Good Charlotte - Good Morning Revival

Gorillaz - Demon Days

(hed) p.e. - New World Orphans
