Speaking of, Lonely...

I STILL HAVEN'T LEARNED REDSTONE. IT'S fudgeING 1.8.1 ALREADY AND I CAN'T WIRE FOR CRAP.

Guess I shouldn't get a job as a technician or anything of the sort.

And according to that mod Zooey, I should have a height limit of ~560 next time I open my testing world :(

I don't understand redstone wiring either >_>

The first time I actually tried doing something was today, I made a nice little piston trap that is actually very easy to avoid xP

I might try and record it :D

If you guys need any help, I'd be happy to show you some of the basics.

I actually managed to set up a Spleef arena on my Creative world with a fence gate to stop people coming in or out (check my blog) but it can only be activated/deactivated by removing/placing redstone torches. I might put a lever in to make it easier.

Oh and the blog post is out of date, I've updated the whole arena but I'm too lazy to post pictures.

Oh and if someone can tell me how to host a server I'd be grateful.

Which part do you need explained?

I probably need help with compacting things, making the redstone wire smaller and easier to hide. It's kind of big at the moment >_<

I know a few basics, like those things that reverse the wiring and how to delay stuff

On that note, has anyone seen the temple of notch? It's amazing! The guy does heaps of other redstone piston things too!

Sure, but what I'm mainly interested in is compact sticky piston+block doors, preferably compact enough to fit into this space, with pistons between the cobble:

Most of it. I already know about downloading the server console but that's about it.

Okay, I'll probably miss something crucial, but this is just my quick guide:

1. Download the Minecraft_server.exe and put it in a dedicated server folder. You'll be using this a lot. I use a .jar, but I think you use an .exe.. Not quite sure on this.

2. Go to your browser window and type 192.168.1.1

3. Most likely your username is blank and your password is admin, that's default Linksys settings. If not, ask your dad/whoever set up your wifi.

4. Browse around til you find the Port Forwarding section. For Linksys, it's under Applications & Gaming.

5. In the first box, that is most likely blank, type 25565 in both inputs. Set protocol as both.

6. You most likely don't know your internal IP. It's going to be 192.168.1.XXX, you'll need to find it to put in the end box. Open up Terminal (or command prompt) and type ipconfig. It'll be in there somewhere.

7. After you've found the last three digits of your computer's internal IP, make sure the port is enabled. Save and close.

8. Run your Server .exe!

9. End the server, navigate to your folder where the .exe is, open up the server.properties and make sure the port is on 25565. Adjust settings as you wish.

10. Everything should be working once you run it again. I've never actually done this on a Windows PC before though.

If you want Bukkit, download the jar and run it from terminal.

If none of this made any sense or is horribly wrong, this is the first result when you Google 'how to run a Minecraft server'.

I know how to make a compact piston door!

I'll try draw it for you :3

---- = Redstone dust

[_] = just any block

-o- = redstone torch

[-[] = piston

= = Air

----[-[][_]==[_][]-]----

[_][-[][_]==[_][]-][_]

-o-[-[][_]==[_][]-]-o-

Lol o_O

Then you just dig a hole and connect the two torches together and put pressure plate above it.

As demonstrated by Wolf, redstone is much easier to learn via video or in game. :(

Yeah just use this video.

Just remove the top pistons and you're good to go!

Looks compact enough.

Just one problem though...

I HAVEN'T FOUND REDSTONE YET. OR SLIME.

Anywhat, thanks for the video :D

Oh right I forgot how hard sticky pistons are to get seeing as I play creative when working with redstone xD

Because it lags? :(

if you make a 1-clock thing, normally the sound is so annoying but it's broken in SMP so it's alright! xD

I remember hooking 1 up to a few doors and the sound was horrible!

Heres the very first thing I made with redstone and pistons.

Which was today -_-

As you can tell from the lag, my computer sucks >_<

So I went onto the same world that I built my Spleef arena on and made this:

If you see three walls on the interior, look again.

I know endless loops will lag the server, but do clocks? I never can tell the difference.

I was going to try Aether but, even with a 1.7.3 jar it blackscreened. Evidently my folders got accidentally.

I recall no such folder.

I don't shoot trouble. I punch it.
