Tabt
the g used to look like a number, so people would alter the price of something at the last minute. Selling unidentified herbs that were the wrong sort. Free gem cutting.

Sofee
Pretty much all that was said above :D Another one that hasn't been mentioned is the dungeon under Lumbridge Swamp. It went like this: *scammer sitting around dungeon entrance* *innocent guy who has never gone into Lumbridge Swamp dungeon walks past* Scammer: Have you gone into this dungeon before? Guy: No (if yes, make up story about how scammer got killed and become friends) Scammer: It's so cool down there, let me give you a tour of it! Guy: Ok cool. Scammer: But first you need a candle and tinderbox or you'll get killed. *gives items* *goes down* Scammer: So here's the blah blah blah, oh isn't that exciting? Blah blah blah *gets to spot where candle extinguishes* Guy: OMG WHY AM I GETTING HIT ASDFOAJHSWEFOAWUIENAWEROI Scammer: OMG TRADE I HAVE SPARE CANDLE! *tries to trade, wasting time* Guy: I CAN'T RASDFJAOWEIRUAER *dies* Scammer: Yay, loot! ----- This was before the trade limit of course :( Unfortunately I was one of the scammers :P . I did it once and looted dragon boots (after they just came out) so I made about 1m :D That was when I was 10 though, heh.

Sparhawke
Buying unids wasn't a scam if you knew what you were doing, all you had to do was get a separate unidentified herb so you had all of them, identify one of each and place them in a particular order so you always knew what you were getting. The annoying part was when people pretended to be stupid and figured that they would try to claim they were high value guams. Trust trading was a horrible one...how ridiculous can you get when you fall for it, who in their right mind would hand over something for no value at all? The worst scam of all though was the Free Lobsters scam, in that you felt compelled to accept junk for all your wealth because someone had said it was free, very easy to do and get caught by. The player mods had a field 30 minutes when we were unleashed upon them lol Edited December 16, 2010 by Sparhawke

Qilx
Just when RuneScape (old version) transformed into RuneScape 2 (What we're playing now), there're many accounts created with scammer names like 'RS2 upgrader' with intention of scamming. Many people actually believed their scams which include free armour trimming. O_o
Snowi
I haven't played RS since trade limit, and I want it back BADLY... I wasn't a scammer, I just like to be free, and not controlled by rules that take away fun (and ability to enjoy playing with friends). King Ford
I haven't played RS since trade limit, and I want it back BADLY... I wasn't a scammer, I just like to be free, and not controlled by rules that take away fun (and ability to enjoy playing with friends). "Selling a rare mind rune, only 10k!!!" "Selling Charcoal, 100k each" "Selling rare triangle sandwiches, only 300k each!!!!" "Hey, I'll sell you guth legs for 300k" (Switched for rune legs :D ) <---- Fell for that one haha (Here's one saying that I miss a lot... sara armour money making) "Selling full Sara, 2.2mill" (World 2) "Selling full Sara, 3.1mill" (World 1) hahahaha :(
lord earth13
It was already kind of mentioned, but not really. Two people would be in on this one, one would try to sell unpolished buttons for 10k and the second guy would start saying "Buying polished buttons 1m!!" nearby. I only saw it a few times, but that scam was definitely out there.
Bandos_Axemen
Lol I remembered when I was a noob that they said they needed stuff for a drop party. People would donate stuff and then the people would log out. Then there was one where they'd say free armour trimming lol. Then there was free gem cutting. Then there was "hey, would you like me to train you to get all 99's?" Then there was "I'm sorry im a jagex worker and I acquire your password inorder to make you a mod." Classic moments lol Oh yea I forgot these classics. LOL classic runescape was a drama queen. Um that classic rune scimmy trick. Replace it with a iron one.... The "im a jagex staff member" thing The "hey do you want me to get your account members for free?" ahhhh sad memories :D
lord earth13
Speaking of drop parties, I remember there was another scam where someone would have a half inventory of items like rune, etc, and the other half of their inventory filled with cabbages. They'd gather a bunch of people after saying "DROP PARTY!!!!!!!!" all the way through Varrock, and just drop the cabbages.
