As you venture westward from Varrock over the River Lum, you notice an encampment built straight from the ground. The large wooden fences and huts show the character of the village. Barbarians, known as the 'original people', inhabit this ground they know as Gunnarsgrunn. To outlanders, this is known as the Barbarian Village. Adventurers wander here to quest, learn the history, train their Crafting,Fishing, Runecrafting, Mining and Smithing skills, and to explore the depths of The Stronghold of Security.

Quick Links

Map of Gunnarsgrunn

Attractions

1. The Mine and Stronghold Entrance

The heart of the Barbarian village serves as a converging point for mining and adventure enthusiasts. There are nine rocks in which you can hack away at; four coal and five tin. You may also climb down the hole in the middle to access the Stronghold of Security and prepare to have your security knowledge and will to adventure be tested. You are also able to have a conversation with Litara the barbarian.

2. The Long Hall

The long hall is the meeting point for the chieftain of the village with his fellow barbarians. Have a nice cold glass of beer or some fresh cooked meat while you train on some barbarians, and even challenge Haakon the Champion (level 29) to a fight! Speak with Chieftain Gunthor for some information on the village. He plays an important role in the Gunnar's Ground quest.

3. The Spinning Wheel

The hut containing the spinning wheel is where crafting experience may easily be gained for anyone who has anything to spin. Miners may also pick up a bronze pick axe to hack away at the rocks at the center of the village.

4. The Helmet Shop

Barbarians, being skilled blacksmiths, naturally make armor to trade with adventurers. The helmet shop stocks all helmets up to Adamant Medium and Full (excluding Black medium helmet). See the shop section below to see the prices. Speak to Peksa to trade your gold for his helmets!

5. The Pottery Oven Hut

The Pottery Oven hut is a hot spot for any novice crafters who are looking to make a start in the crafting business. Inside the hut, you'll find spinning wheels which shape the soft clay in which you can bake in the oven. You can also find Tassie Slipcast here during the One Small Favour quest.

6. Empty Hut

barbv7.png

7. Fishing Spot

To the east of the village, the River Lum flows peacefully to separate the main part of Gunnarsgrunn from Varrock. Along the river, it is a power-fishing hotspot for any baiting or fly fishers. Some even stop here to grab some food to cook before they explore the threatening depths of the Stronghold of Security. To cook the fish, there is an inextinguishable fire within the village.

8. Canoe Station

barbv5.png

9. Body Rune Altar

barbv9.png

The Body Rune Altar is essential to adventurers who enjoy Runecrafting. To be able to enter the altar, you need either a Body Rune talisman or tiara. By having a full inventory of either pure or Rune essence, you can craft your own Runes!

10. Edgeville Dungeon Entrance

Once you've crossed the River Lum and head north, you can locate a dilapidated house which is locked. You'll need a brass key found in the Edgeville Dungeon to be able to enter this house. This also serves as another entrance to the Edgeville Dungeon. When you climb down the ladder, you'll find yourself among the hill giants.

I don't understand you have totally left out the shop section?

You have also missed attractions such as the pottery stuff, etc.

-Ming :D

I only need the transparencies of the personalities, other than that, I need small portions of information that should be added here and there, but I have all my pictures and information, the reason I haven't finished is because it's late here and I'm going to finish when I wake up tomorrow morning.

In my personal opinion, I don't think the guide needs a rewrite, just updated pictures. If you're going to do that - 500px × 250px no borders (borders will be added via CSS) would probably be recommended for consistency. :(

Yup, CSS seems like a nice solution - that way if we want to change the border style/color at some point (even for a different skin, too), it can be easily done for all images. and like you said, it makes it easier for anyone submitting images, since they don't need to worry about adding borders.

Also, I redid all of the free to play maps a short while ago, so if this is still up to date, feel free to use it.

Here's images I took with 4x Anti-Aliasing all 500x250 no border

All uploaded. They go in the order of the original guide.

The reason I'm rewriting this is not only because of the picture updates, it's also to give more in-depth background on the village. Due to the Gunnar's Ground quest, many things changed within the village, so I feel it is safe to write a new one. Also, new personalities were added to the village.

Thank you! I did take a lot of the pictures already but the pictures of the personalities were not taken. I'll update them in a couple of hours.

You left out a space in between Crafting and Fishing in your opening.

You could also say that the fishing spot is commonly used by players to "power fish" and is a good supply of food for adventures heading into the deeps of the Stronghold of Security.

Oh and that the pottery oven hut has spinning wheels inside to craft the shapes of your creations besides just the oven that is used to bake them.

I'll be adding that information soon! :D

Thank you for the handy information. I'm currently focusing on Constitution guide at the moment but I'll come in to edit this every once in a while, I don't want anyone thinking this is a dead thread.

EDIT:

Could someone tell me the purpose of the empty building, because as I explored the village, I still could find no use for it. If there is indeed no use, then I will write that in the description.

I plan on adding the map at the end.

The building that seems to serve no purpose, it's in the lower left corner of the the village I believe.
