_Zj Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Also, Trivium is an epic band. I've been more interested in watching flowers grow than a Trivium album. Have you listened to their newest album? Yeah, i'm not a big fan of Trivium. Their first album wasn't to bad. Crusade or something, really despised that one.See above. Quote

Have you listened to their newest album? Shogun? I just listened to three songs and they sounded exactly like Crusade. Sufjan Stevens all day. Hell yes. Quote

It's pretty good. Yes Golf, Shogun. What in particular don't you like about it? If you're a metal fan, I don't know how you don't like them Edited July 25, 2010 by Zj 522 Quote
Hyrax Posted July 25, 2010 Author Posted July 25, 2010 Slint and The Jesus Lizard are two of the best alternative bands of all time. Also, the new Arcade Fire album is amazing. Sufjan Stevens all day. Yes please. Quote

If you're a metal fan, I don't know how you don't like them Try listening to some Mansoor or Periphery and you'll see why. That shizzle is real metal. That or…Agalloch, Wolves In The Throne Room, Dream Theater, Slayer, Animals As Leaders…even Demon Hunter is way better. Trivium is basically pop punk with a metalcore sound. It's repetitive and stupid. Edited July 25, 2010 by Golf Foxtrot Sierra Quote

William Howard Taft Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 (edited) Periphery…don't listen to the vocal versions. They suck except for Icarus Lives. You have to do the instrumentals, man. Trivium's songs all sound the same. It's repetitive, wasteful, pointless. When you hit about 18 you'll find that out most likely… EDIT: Okay if that's true there's no hope. The singer in Periphery sounds like he's whining. Trivium sounds like melodic death metal. Trivium is very repetitive. Guitar riffs are very rarely memorable. And the vocalist is trying to do some thrash cover or something. He should stick with the metalcore origins of the band. His cleans > thrashy metallica-attempted singing or w/e. Oh and DT and Animals as Leaders are good. If you like that proggyness and fairly technical instrumentations, listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzzZUFYzPis Reminds me of The Dance of Eternity by DT, but not in the same way.
