_Zj Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Golf, I am over 18. I don't think age has much to do with music preference. I'll give the bands you listed a second chance though, and I will look for instrumentals instead. I started listening to Periphery and was just thinking wow this sounds like Alesana or some emo junk.  the vocalist is trying to do some thrash cover or something. His cleans > thrashy metallica-attempted singing or w/e.I don't think he sounds anything like Metallica... Completely disagree here. He should stick with the metalcore origins of the bandI honestly think he sounds more like Metallica in Crusade than in Shogun. Quote
Indie Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Uhh, have you heard the news? Â Fortress, new album by Miniature Tigers tomorrow. Â So who's going to mediafire dat shizzle. Quote
Kwinten Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Anybody know some good (modern) trash metal bands? Everybody knows the classic ones, and they're great but I'm just liking a more modern sound (like Machine Head) better. Quote

Not sure if it's thrash metal but it sounded like it to me. Quote

_Zj Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I honestly think he sounds more like Metallica in Crusade than in Shogun. [/quote[I was referring to the Ascendancy. Ok. I listened to Ascendancy earlier today, and it does sound a little like Metallica, but it's not anywhere near "impersonating" or "imitating" Metallica. How did you get Metallica and Slipknot in one sentence... Music is going down the drain.Just because people find interest in bands that aren't similar doesn't mean music is going down the drain. I don't like Slipknot either but just because people do, and mention them in the same sentence as other good bands by no stretch means music is going down the drain... Quote
Orchdork19 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Most of what I listen to is metal.  Viking Metal/Folk Metal: Eluveitie Trelleborg Finntroll Ensiferum Wintersun  Power Metal: Alestorm <- Amazing band if you like pirates! Rhapsody of Fire  Symphonic/Orchestral Metal: Therion Epica Nightwish  Nu-Metal: Maximum the Hormone  For anyone who likes any type of metal you might want to check out Encyclopaedia Metallum. You can search by genre, country, and name. Also, the random band button is good for finding new bands. Quote
