I have been using sals realm for a while not and have never had problems.

However recently I have been getting forwarded to one of those sites that tell you your computer has X amount of viruses and that you should pay them to clean it up.

I never really stay long enough to gain details but basically it starts a phony virus scan onscreen and when you click to go back it makes you answer "are you sure you wish to navigate away from this page, your computer might still be at risk"

It does not happen all the time, only now and again and as I can also say i am pretty sure sals ream is not in the business of scamming it's users into buying virus software, I would assume that one of your advertisements is auto linking users that come accross it to this "antivirus site"

This is not a complaint and sorry if it's in the wrong place ( I could not for the life of me find a "contact us" button )

I just wanted to bring this to your attention so that maybe you guys can try to figure out whats causing it and put an end to it.

Is it possible that you have a virus that's doing this? Sal is pretty strict on his advertising, I'm pretty sure he'd never let something like this happen.

Scan your computer, it's likely you have some form of adware/malware installed on your computer. Adverts are only displayed at the bottom of the forums as I'm aware and they are usually harmless.

There have been a few other topics like this.

Same answer, it's not Sals Ads but it's most likely you having a Virus.

If it has a name like "AV Anti Vira" or whatever, just search how to get rid of Av Anti Vira, or something along those terms.

I haven't got a virus like this and I spend a lot of time on Sals. So I'd recommend getting rid of this as fast as possible before it does serious harm to your computer/laptop.

What was the URL of the landing page it redirects you to? It's definitely possible that a rogue advertisement is causing this, and I can have the advert blocked if it has somehow sneaked past the ad screening process.

While all of our ads are screened and must follow a strict set of guidelines, unfortunately from time to time a rogue advert can squeak by and start causing problems like this. It's uncommon, but it does happen. :D

Yesterday while cruising through Sals, when I went onto a certain topic my Antivirus (Avast) kept detecting a trojan and aborting the connection with the advertisement.

Stupid of me not to copy the link to the ad, but just putting it out there that this whole ad virus thing that's been popping up has happened to me too.
