Request Update Button

I thought about it and instead of randomly updating quests or guides that WE think of, why not let the vieuwers decide? I mean those are the ones that need it (and all of us ofcourse) :P

What I mean is that, like let's say there is an oudated quest or perhaps one with old pictures - which sometimes can be confusing/anoying. The person vieuwing the guides could push a button to tell us to 'please update this guide | w/e' and perhaps the ability to write abit more information on what needs updating.

^ The only bad thing could be that trolls will go on a spam war, but trolls will be trolls.

This also could be used to let people help us if they want, they could tell us in that information what is wrong with the guide. This could be handy for people that don't have an account on the forums. :D

EDIT:

a place for us sals members to see what is wanted could be nice - so that we can all contribute! I mean Now I don't really help with guides and such because I don't know which one or what is needed.. Made me think of it in the first place.

Well be sure to post constructive thoughts! :(

I kind of like this idea; though I'd prefer if there was the option to directly submit your own update and have it reviewed using this feature.

That being said; we already made a "request update" and not too many seemed to notice Dx

There is such a button? °_° where must've hidden it really well then.. Oh and don't shoot me but that topic.. looks chaotic.. O_o seriously it does..

Oh well wanted to shout out my thoughts! ^^

EDIT: LOL why the hell did you put the update thing in the options thingy.. °_° I always ignored it since that was to update your own things.. nicely done, never even knew .. I only found it beause you said there was one! holy moley. I can see why none have noticed. :( [/trolling]

I was more having an idea like..

Big red square before quests guide starts: "If you find anything incorrect or want to add information click here". Or perhaps at the top of all quests.

Instead of submitting a total new guide wouldn't a small bit be enough? I mean sort of a fix/add instead of new one made.. Don't think alot of people would do that anyways.

No, there is no such button :P I'm saying the topic is the request update! :D

And leave my baby alone :( she tries, she tries!

And a small bit is enough, that's realistically what the Updates&Corrections subforum is for, you can submit an entire guide, a paragraph, a picture, a line, anything really, so long as it's of a high quality!

I like your idea though, perhaps a "if you have any updates or corrections to make to this guide, please post them here" button at the top of each guide?

I don't really think it's entirely fair to request an update and not be willing to do it yourself, especially as if you're needing the updated guide, presumably you'll be doing the quest :D

Some are not on these forums but do use our guides, forcing someone isn't fun is it?

Others can't be bothered with updating, but they want the best quality.. Now as a RSFansite isn't that our goal? total domination?

I have finally found the button. When on a questpage hover over options -> Submit an update. My idea exists already.. Yet hard to know it was there.

Personally would suggest a button next to options.. :(

No, it isn't, but the information in the guides is by-and-large correct, the core principles for quests haven't changed very much over the year. As such, most of the updates needed aren't massive, and you aren't being forced. You have the option to either do it or don't, but you shouldn't expect someone to do the work for you.

Others can't be bothered with updating, but they want the best quality..

And that doesn't strike you as a little selfish? :(

I want the best, but I'm not willing to do anything for it. It's a two way street, if you catch my drift.

In the right hand corner of guides, under the "options" button, there is a feature that allows members to submit an update. While this isn't exactly the same as a "Request Update" button, it can be used in the same manner if you just want to say "X part of this guide is outdated because of Y."
