Sal's RuneScape Forum

What is this, SalsBook?

Status updates? Especially with "what's on your mind?" as a direct quote from FB?

Liking posts? With no dislike option just like FB?

Following people/threads?

Adding friends?

Notifications page also has a striking similarity...

Actually, what does adding friend do? Also as far as I know people can add you as friend without you even accepting the friend request?

Maybe I'll get used to it eventually, but I still think most of these features should not be on the forum. Particularly the first two things on the list.

I actually love the new changes. The mobile skin is the best change IMO, and those features that you say are like Facebook actually make it easier for me to use the site. A proper notification system is pretty great.

Status updates and liking posts... I personally like the status updates, I can actually post whatever's on my mind, unlike Facebook. The reputation system and liking posts... not so much.

Idk I just kinda preferred it as a forum; it is a runescape forum but not really bothered about it - I probably will use the forums less though :c

It's still a forum - with completely optional features.

If it's such a worry you don't ever need to press like, you never need to add friends, you never need to update your status, you never need to follow a topic.

It is but it isn't, when people start doing status updates every time they get an effigy or get an A in class, it really isn't going to be much of a forum; the good thing about sals was that anything not strictly on topic is taken down or not given interest to,

So, stuff that would be otherwise unwelcome now has a place to go, that doesn't clog up the forum - could potentially remove spam and give a little boost in activity; at least to the people who are active, by giving them a little something more to do on the forum, and truly make it a place where they can share things.

That's what I'm taking from your post, and I don't really understand where you're coming from.

I like these new features. I love that I can easily go to a post i've been quoted in or know where new topics have appeared. It's much easier to navigate and use as well as know instantly when something has happened.

I guess status updates aren't really needed but it's not like it's something negative about the forum.

They have status updates on other fansites, and, I've never seen them spammed with junk. I do like the like option. Sometimes you may want to say gz to someone, but, don't feel like typing a message, just like it now :(

Only thing I don't really get is the friends thing. I don't get what being friends on here let's you do other than say, ya we're friends ;p

And yet the friends feature has been there since I was registered on the forums :(.

There are only two things that I dislike - the forum skin (but this is only temporary of course so it's no big deal), and the 'profile views' counter but I know the old forums had profile views disabled so hopefully it'll be only a matter of time until it gets disabled again.

The things you mentioned in the OP don't really bother me and most actually seem like useful features.
