-Leaf- Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Status updates? Especially with "what's on your mind?" as a direct quote from FB? Liking posts? With no dislike option just like FB? Following people/threads? Adding friends? Notifications page also has a striking similarity... Actually, what does adding friend do? Also as far as I know people can add you as friend without you even accepting the friend request? Maybe I'll get used to it eventually, but I still think most of these features should not be on the forum. Particularly the first two things on the list. Quote
Melik Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I actually love the new changes. The mobile skin is the best change IMO, and those features that you say are like Facebook actually make it easier for me to use the site. A proper notification system is pretty great. Status updates and liking posts... I personally like the status updates, I can actually post whatever's on my mind, unlike Facebook. The reputation system and liking posts... not so much. Quote
Emo Nemo Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I disagree. A forum should evolve in features just as anything else does. That includes adapting to social networking trends. Quote
reepicheep Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Indeed. Plus, I think having a dislike button is unnecessary. Just tell people you disagree. Quote
Star Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) How about exploring first? as for the other facts you post, erm.. I want my black background back! :'( that's it lol. Edited January 19, 2012 by Star Quote
Hunter Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 New skins will be added with time. I personally love the clean, bright look. Quote
GWAS Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Idk I just kinda preferred it as a forum; it is a runescape forum but not really bothered about it - I probably will use the forums less though :c Quote
Jethraw Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Idk I just kinda preferred it as a forum; it is a runescape forum but not really bothered about it - I probably will use the forums less though :c It's still a forum - with completely optional features. If it's such a worry you don't ever need to press like, you never need to add friends, you never need to update your status, you never need to follow a topic. Quote
O hai im KAMIL Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 So what if the features are similar to FaceBook? It's all for the better and I like the new changes. :( Quote

That's what I'm taking from your post, and I don't really understand where you're coming from. Quote
Aabid Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Since the first time I saw this, this is what I updated my status to. lol. It does look like FB. Quote
Kesthetic Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I like these new features. I love that I can easily go to a post i've been quoted in or know where new topics have appeared. It's much easier to navigate and use as well as know instantly when something has happened. I guess status updates aren't really needed but it's not like it's something negative about the forum. Ambo100 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 We've had a friends system since 2007 as well as profile comments (which were disabled). Just look at my profile feed and you can see my first comment. Quote
Chaoss Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Personally I find it more exciting and a reason to keep coming back...for now I'm a bit more active now anyway :( Quote
Fatalysm Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Now this actually reminds me of facebook and youtube. Kids whining because the look of it has changed saying they are going to quit, but never leaving because it's not a big deal. Quote

I do like the like option. Sometimes you may want to say gz to someone, but, don't feel like typing a message, just like it now :( Only thing I don't really get is the friends thing. I don't get what being friends on here let's you do other than say, ya we're friends ;p Quote

Micael Fatia Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 There are only two things that I dislike - the forum skin (but this is only temporary of course so it's no big deal), and the 'profile views' counter but I know the old forums had profile views disabled so hopefully it'll be only a matter of time until it gets disabled again. The things you mentioned in the OP don't really bother me and most actually seem like useful features. Quote
Admiral Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 /whine whine whine I like the new changes. If you don't like them then don't use them. Quote
Guitarguy Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Actually, what does adding friend do? Everything it does on FB: Bragging rights. :( Quote
