heb0 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) Please note that there has been an addition to the forum rules under the header "Sharing Personal Information." The new rule reads as follows: Sharing Personal InformationMaking known the personal information of a member or members without their explicit permission, especially in an attempt to harass or defame them, is strictly prohibited. Personal information includes, but is not limited to, name, age, location, gender, and links to social media or other websites containing that member's information. Members are encouraged to use discretion when disclosing any of their personal information to other members of the forum. The staff takes the privacy of all of our members seriously. Sharing a member's personal information in attempts to harass her or him will not be tolerated. Also, please remember to protect your own personal information. While the staff will take measures to remove personal details posted about you by other members, it's your responsibility to guard your own privacy on the forums. Remember that you can't control who sees information once it is posted, and also remember that Sal's cannot control the actions of our members off the forums. If you're not sure whether you should share information about yourself or not, it might be best to play it safe and not share it. In other news... The Ban Appeals Forum has been tweaked a bit. From now on, both members who have been banned and suspended can use it to communicate with the staff or appeal their bans/suspensions. Also, if you for some reason find yourself unable to access Sal's Account, you can use the Ban Appeals forum to contact the staff. Remember, however, that posts in the subforum can only be seen by the staff, so be sure to include proper contact information in your post. For more information on how to appeal a ban of the Ban Appeals Forum in general, read the Ban Appeals Forum Announcement. The Forum Rules have been updated in order to correct formatting errors introduced by the forum move. All links in the topic have been updated as well, as many had become outdated due to the removal of subforums and conversion of stickies to announcements. If you see a link that is still broken or outdated, please PM a staff member. Apart from the rules topic, many stickies and announcements have formatting errors or broken links. Watch for these to be fixed in the upcoming weeks. Are you hosting a Community Event? Do you want it advertised on the main page of the forum? If so, please PM any staff member with your event's details (date, time, a brief description, and a link to the event topic, along with any other information you want to include) and we'll add it to our Community Calendar! Edited February 15, 2012 by Salmoneus Added info about submitting events. Quote
Fatalysm Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Heb0 and I had sex last night. His brother and sister both aged 19 got involved. It was a hot steamy night at 4th Rule, Sal's Realm, The internet. So...I need to avoid that type of conversation? :P Quote
Lonelywolf Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I'm glad no one on Sals revealed my personal information! Quote
Hunter Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Hear that guys? You can't call me by my username now. In all seriousness, if for example said person reveals their name to the community at some point, can you use their name? I imagine we should be able to. Quote
Morte Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Hear that guys? You can't call me by my username now. In all seriousness, if for example said person reveals their name to the community at some point, can you use their name? I imagine we should be able to. Yes, you may unless they ask you not to. This rule was made to clarify the importance of respecting the privacy/personal lives of people on this forum, and some people may or may not wish to have absolutely no personal information about themselves revealed. With how much a person can do with personal information these days, we highly encourage all users to be careful about who they share their information with. We absolutely respect any choices made by members in regards to how much they want to share about themselves. Personally, my name is Tim. I've always been open about my personal details, and several members have quite a few of my details/addresses. On the other hand, some other member may not feel the same way about revealing themselves. So we must respect their wishes. Remember, all ages browse this forum. Quote

Adam? Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Is mentioning THAT THING THAT HAPPENED with Co-Z and Twist prohibited under this rule? Quote
heb0 Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Allowing suspended members to talk with the staff = win; It actually could be done before, but it required finding ways to email us or get in contact ingame, which was really annoying for everyone involved, but mostly them. :P I think at one time you could also email [email protected] or something like that, but I'm not sure if that still works or not. I just saw it mentioned in an archaic topic when I was snooping around the other day. :P Quote
