Gnomercy 1 Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) My computer has been randomly turning off, without going through the shutting down process. It has happened around 5/6 times today varying from 30 mins turned on to 2 hours. I will be in the middle of something, and without any warning or sounds, it will immediately cut off. My power cable is firmly plugged in. Is this an issue with overheating? According to defraggler, my (C:/) drive is at 66C (which is in red text), which I presume means it is over heating? I can feel the air from the computer fan when I put my hand at the back of the chassis. Is this an over heating issue? Does anyone know what I can do? I turned my computer on 20 minutes ago. Also spray some compressed air into the fans and case, heatsinks too to get rid of any dust. Finally if your CPU or video card temps exceed 80C then try replacing the thermal paste. Also spray some compressed air into the fans and case, heatsinks too to get rid of any dust. Finally if your CPU or video card temps exceed 80C then try replacing the thermal paste. C:/ drive is 62C. Assuming you have the Athlon X2 6400+ from your previous thread, AMD states that it's maximum temperature is around 72C. Therefore if your CPU is reaching 90C+ then there's something definitely wrong. Either the thermal paste is defunct, heatsink not seated properly or poor airflow. O hai im KAMIL 540 Posted July 4, 2012 Remove the old thermalpaste and apply some new. If you don't have any, buy some Arctic Silver 5 (AS5). Spray some compressed air within the heatsink and fan. Perhaps buying a new one would be a good idea? After extensive cleaning of all fans and all over the PC, as well as tucking wires away as best possible, after 5 minutes up time I'm on ~65C with the chassis side open.
