Choosing a monitor?

Recommended Posts

I am not clear on what criteria to decide which monitor to purchase. I have been looking at these two monitors, and other than the slight difference in size, which is better and for what reason? At that pricerange, are either of these monitors the best choice or is there something significantly better?

I would say the second one is better, simply because it has and LED backlit screen. Also, the response times on both of them are pretty good, so there's no real difference there. But an LED is a huge bonus, as it gives a much better picture. For that price range I'd say a 23" LED backlit is pretty good. If you don't want either one of those, I would suggest this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116479&name=LCD-Monitors I have that exact one and I love it. I'm actually looking to upgrade to a 27" one of those this winter.

But for either one, don't expect the built in speakers to be good.

If you are using it to watch HD films, you'll probably want a larger monitor. It's still great in 21'' or 23'' but its even better with larger screens. Also, don't be fooled by the monitors in shop which just rake up the brightness settings (among others I have read..).
