Question

Posted

While not an in-game question, I was wondering why I am receiving multiple e-mails from Jagex saying my account has been accused of RWT (which I have never done). Apparently I am to be fined $2,500 multiple times but when I log into my account, there are no warnings, no accusations, nothing against me or my only account. I feel that it's possible that someone may have used my email for their account and their account is being accused, however, I really don't want the annoying emails and I'm not sure of how to approach Jagex to let them know because I can't even appeal these warnings because there are none. Any suggestions?

Flag 'em as spam.

That IS what they are, after all. They're just spam emails. If you respond to one, it gets sent to Jagex's actual inbox, and they send an automated reply that it's fake. They're sent as phishing attempts, and if you click on the link in them to log in, you get sent to a fake site and if you log in, you get your account stolen.

So yeah, just flag them as spam and move on.

The emails are from [email protected]. I did not directly click on any links but is that their true e-mail or not? I don't think Jagex would be sending out phishing attempts. I'm just worried that these charges will be given to me when I did not even deserve them.

They are not from Jagex. If you reply, it gets sent to the REAL [email protected], and they send you confirmation that it is fake.

I don't mean to offend, but I really can't word "they aren't from Jagex" any simpler.

These are phishing attempts. They will try and take your account from you. The emails aren't from Jagex, even though the senders address may make it look like it is. Delete and move on.

Okay, much appreciated. I'll flag them all and get those out of my inbox, thank you very much!

I get these all the time, even as an ex-pmod with excellent standing with Jagex and this forum community, you can tell because when you look at the links by hovering over them they look like Jagex.com .ie .ch

I never respond to any email named "runescape", even from the official company due to this phishing.

The only one you should ever respond to is from your official inbox when you log in :) ...And those will come with an official form that you can respond to in your actual account :D

(I lost my pmod status when the bot update happened and I went to 2fps, I couldn't even log in on some days)

I also think that if Jagex does send you an email, they'll use your display name rather than just calling you "Player".

Of course, this information could be well out of date or Im completely wrong.

In all my emails I have gotten from Jagex stating that I have got new loyalty points they always say Hi Dei Wei. So if the email does state your player name then it's mostly likely from Jagex or the phisher is very good.
