Nope, it was a solid joke and I just didn't transition it well enough to the classic "is that a threat or a promise" line. Some would describe my humor at this stage of my life as "cheerfully suicidal".
heb0 157 Posted April 11 I can sympathize, as I've also found myself in an "I'm not suicidal, my jokes just suck" scenario online.
Yuanrang 383 Posted April 11 One of my students commented that, since I had started reverting into Dad Joke levels of humor, their will to live was corroding quickly. ...and that is when I added "Expert in Mental torture" to my CV.

Bold of you to assume Gen Z has any will to live in general.

One of those sad things I have come to realise after 9,5 years as a teacher is that mental health issues is on the rise for teens nowadays. I recognise that the world I was born in 10-20 years prior, was a vastly different world than our current world. Either our current society is too high a hurdle to pass compared to the past, or we create broken children who cannot function when meeting a hurdle. Personally, I think it is a bit of both, but it is so easy to point to a generation and consider them weak, when they are probably surviving a hell of a lot better than I would have, had I been transported from the 90ies and early 00s to the late 00s or the 10s. Yuanrang 383 Posted April 20 Ah yes, the good ol' "Teach them how miserable life can be, so life then becomes bearable" strategy. I am sure that will work out splendidly.

You do not struggle with thinking about what he might believe or not, or whether or not today will be the day you commit murder.
