Where do new characters at low level usually train? It's different now with "weaknesses" counting so much at low level. Cows for example are hard to range and semi-hard to melee. Their weakness being mage. I'm wondering if there are guides for getting in the 50s or 60s? I found one on mage, suggesting Moss Giants until 43. Seems okay. What about range and melee?

I think moss giants attack with range, so I don't understand why you would train magic using moss giants.

Can't help you with range and melee; try finding some low level monsters with weaknesses. There has to be a couple.

Hey, Leave it to Beaver.

I just checked my history, found the guide, I guess it is just outdated. This just seems more complicated now, training that is. Hard to find large sums of NPC to attack, because the easy ones die fast.

On second thought, check out scorpions/king scorpions. I'm not positive, but I think they attack with range. Deadly red spiders used to be a melee training spot for pretty much all melee levels but they were nerfed very recently and their defence was increased to a ridiculous level. Any guide that says they are worth training on is probably outdated. I was doing moss giants yesterday and they seemed alright. They drop big bones and apparently they will auto attack you at low levels, so you can afk them. You could also try hill giants but I'm not sure they attack with range.

For range, try maybe the elemental wizards (?). Magic shouldn't be too difficult because so many NPCs use melee as the primary attack. One thing that pops to mind are white knights, but I've never tested this to see how fast this was.

I hope this helps a little. Maybe one of these days I'll check this out on a lower level account.
