20000_Posts Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Didn't see a topic anywhere about this, which is kind of pathetic. Haven't watched the video with sound since I'm in my digital logic class but it's not going to be in Java, it's webGL and HTML5 which makes this really interesting. Quote
Helm Lardar Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 The only thing that's got me really interested about this is the extra draw distance. If they can do that and make it look good, I'm all on board. Lots of strange atmospheric camera shots of tealights on a barrel for no reason. Jagex are moving forward with their game and it's exciting to watch. the runescape section of this fansite is vanishing. Quote
Micael Fatia Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Or maybe this is just something that does not interest the majority. It will not affect the Old School RuneScape players in absolutely any way so they have nothing to say about it and while I cannot speak for the other EoC players I at least really don't care. Imo the graphics of the game are fine the way they are atm, if Jagex thinks they can improve them even more then cool but since I'm perfectly happy with the current graphics I don't feel the need to discuss this apparently huge change to the game and I'll likely forget about it in a week or so. MFI Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I really don't like them updating the graphics. A big part of RS is the low requirements needed to play it, but this seems to be dissipating rapidly. Quote
zooey Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I think there were several unique aspects to RuneScape that made it so appealing to begin with, and the past year or two have made the game more and more generic in my eyes. I'll give RS3 a shot, but I don't expect to be entertained all that long. Quote
Sobend Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 The two people who are talking in the video look like 35 year old computer geeks who are living in their mother's basement. I can't really knock this before I've played it. If this means we will have to update every picture on the site I will be mad. Grrr. Quote
Fatalysm Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I'm glad they will give users the options they need. Working a game that large with functions using an incomplete and unfinished coding language is kind of stupid though. HTML 5 is a step forward obviously however. Quote
Trey Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I don't really think that any update can make the current game appealing at this point. Quote
nazgulwing Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I don't really think that any update can make the current game appealing at this point. IMO, they killed the game the second they made spins buyable Quote
Lonelywolf Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I dislike the weird emphasises Mod Mark puts on some of the words Quote
O hai im KAMIL Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 This isn't just about graphics.... RuneScape is entering its 6th age and I absolutely cannot wait for these changes to come into play. Bring it on, Jagex ^_^ Quote
Phoenix Rider Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) I think it's gonna be brilliant and people should stop being so pessamistic. The game is changing and it needs to change to stay relevant. They already threw people a bone with the old servers coming out. I personally can't wait till summer. ^_^ Edited March 24, 2013 by Phoenix Rider Quote
Amber Pyre Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 We've been needing to move forward for a while. This is going to be good. Quote
r0yal knight Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 so that means characters would be smaller? Quote

zooey Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 so that means characters would be smaller? I think if they look smaller it's because the environment is so much bigger, if anything. Haven't heard anything about downsizing! :P Also, we now downvote for asking actual questions? Quote
Hilly Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I'm actually excited for this update, watch them delay it till next year though.... Quote
Melenhor Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Moving away from java means everything should be a lot more responsive. So hopefully RS3 engine will do away with the delay between clicking something and the action registering and the random "loading" hangs when you move through large areas.. Quote
mcflurrie122 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I don't see why you guys are getting so upset, it's not like they're removing the skills or changing it from a point and click to something else. It's a graphics, engine, and basically a whole game remodel. Quote
