Griefclaw Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) Fist of Guthix when i played a while ago was quite popular due to things like items being actually good and the exp, oooh the exp was awesome i only trained mage there. But now..... no one in any world is there even the world set for this minigame. I go to it and there is a guy doing fire trails for the ashes.. is this what its become spare room for ashe farming. I simply want to recharge a coif that im going to buy but cant get one game in. So basically something needs to be done either to make it popular or so we can recharge things cause you basically can not anymore. Btw my tone is quite okay here but im pretty pissed quite annoyied at jagex. Edited April 29, 2013 by Griefclaw Quote
Army of One Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) Its because you no longer get magic xp in there, and nobody sees the rewards as worth it. But I also think its pretty stink how nobody plays this minigame anymore... When it was located in lvl 7 wildy it was really popular. Edited April 29, 2013 by Army of One Quote
Micael Fatia Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Most rewards are now useless and EoC killed pures so not many people have reasons to play FoG anymore. Quote
Sobend Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 This needs to be fixed. I don't have any FOG stuff (except for rune gauntlets which don't degrade) but I can see this as an issue if you do have degradable equipment. Quote

Ah yeah the coifs I guess, the mage gear is useless believe me I have like 5 sets of druidic. It's level 20 or 30 armour, Batwing is much much better. It's not even worth getting Druidic for the set effect since there are abilities that do pretty much the same and more effectively. Non combat gear I can only think of the fishing and herblore (I think?) gloves, I don't think nobody cared about them even when FoG was extremely popular. :P But if you're saying Jagex should update FoG or improve the FoG rewards then I'm all up for it, it's really depressing how dead this once fun minigame/activity is atm. Azarath Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 The highest of the gear is tier 50 but still not worth it as Infinity Robes are relatively cheap and require no large time investment. The coifs are made useless by things like the Archers Helm and Blessed D'hide armour. Also helmets only very slightly effect accuracy so you can change them out with any style really if you want one the correct tier. The shields no longer offer offensive bonus' and are just tier 55, not worth the time invested to get them are now just generic melee guantlets, completly worthless compared to Recipe from Disaster Gloves. Micael Fatia Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 FoG items have always been useless for P2Pers, you have to look at it from a F2P perspective Aza. Green dragonhide coif was the best F2P Ranged headgear, Druidic robes were the best robes, Rune gauntlets the best gloves (and a must have thanks to the strength bonus they gave), and Rune berserker the best shield. EoC made all of the above useless except gauntlets (nowhere near as useful as they used to be, so you cna say gaunts got nerfed) and, I guess, the coif. (Green was replaced by Blue as the best Ranged headgear) Quote
Shooter585 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 It's silly that dragonhide coifs degrade anyway. Helmets and hoods don't. With the rework of combat so that all types are on equal standing, it makes no sense that rangers have to go through the trouble of recharging these "standard" items. I'll never be able to get a fully charged blue d'hide coif and I'll have to pay an exorbitant sum just to get a degraded one because of the declining activity. Quote
-Leaf- Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 The highest of the gear is tier 50 but still not worth it as Infinity Robes are relatively cheap and require no large time investment. You've never tried getting them at the MTA, have you? I know for a fact that they require a massive amount of time to get which far surpassed the time it takes to get anything at FOG. I actually did MTA during the first-ever bonus xp weekend back when I had no clue what I was doing.Though I suppose your point is valid if you buy them, since most of the work to get them is done by bots. FOG is now abandoned partly because most of the rewards now provide little to no benefit over their "normal" counterparts, not enough to justify using for PKing, and partly because it no longer provides free magic experience. This drove away both the players and bots. The ratio of players to bots was something like 1:3 on F2P, though I've never actually seen a bot on membs. I used to play FOG for fun because of the free runes and safe PvP - it actually was really fun if you could get an opponent with similar combat levels to yourself (though the chances of that were extremely low). EoC ruined that by making the combat system so generic. Quote
