Now that Runescape 3 has officially been released, let's find out what you guys think of it. Also, if you're having any sort of problems, ask here and maybe somebody else who is experiencing a similar problem can help you out.

Logged in to an unskippable cutscene with a Saradomin that looks like Poseidon, and a Zamorak with the worst demon model they've come up with to date. As soon as that ends I get a giant pop up saying GUTHIX IS DEAD. Way to immediately ruin the storyline for new people, Jagex. I really don't like the fact that the entire area behind Lumbridge is now a giant ugly crater with some war camps. HAM hideout is gone? I thought maybe it was just moved closer to the jailhouse or something, but I can't find it. I'm really not too impressed with RS3 so far at all.

Edit: Just realized this gets rid of one of the places for F2P to cut yews, and it's a loss of a farming patch as well.

The stuff about the gods is actually explained in The World Wakes. Guthix is killed at the end of the quest and you're given his "powers" which I assume will be used later on in this game whether it be in a quest or something.

And for HAM, I hear you can speak to Duke Horacio about it.

Yes, but I think that is the problem. Not everyone has done The World Wakes, meaning it is technically a gargantuan spoiler for anyone who lives under a rock or has not played RuneScape in a very long time. :P

Or for someone just picking up the game.

Apparently it's necessary for understanding Runescape 3, so it's understandable that they'd include it right off the bat. It also emphasizes the new found commitment to story.

Am I going to be missing anything major if I don't immediately play for maybe 2-3 weeks? My new laptop won't be here until then, and my current one can definitely not run the game even on the lowest settings without freezing right after logging in. :/

It may not be your laptop's fault. Could be connection issues. You'll be missing the battle of lumbridge as far as I know. It updates every week.

For me, RS3 is actually smoother it seems than RS2

That was one of the main selling points of HTML5, actually. The lag people are experiencing should clear up.

HTML5 is still in beta. As of now, it's still running on Java.

Oh for reals? Performance will skyrocket once they make the switch.

i found these sacred metal fragments, any idea what they are?

When killing minions they drop fragments + weapon parts that can be smithed into infernal/icyebnic weapons that can be used as cosmetic overrides.

I really hate the interface, as I stated in my new blog entry. It just seems more clustered, I think the old version was more organized, and I wish we could have kept the old interface, instead of the new version-knockoff of the old interface.

One thing I do like though, is now you can have your private chat on, but only see pms from your friends. This is good for activities like house parties, so people can enter your house, without you getting the annoying spam from bots, beggars, or people too lazy to look around your house.

I like the concept for the social interface, though I still hate the new interfaces. And there is a difference between liking, and getting used to an update. In this case, I am used to it, I still don't like it. Like before, though, I wish Jagex would have kept the old interface as an option for us.

I like the crater behind lumbridge, it brought purpose to lumbridge, and its content that anybody can train at, and because it's new, many players are training there, to talk to. Also, Jagex moved the areas of importance where the crater is, to different locations, such as the farming patch, which I hear is now by the furnace.

Have I mentioned how I love that Jagex gave us the ability to customize the chat screens.

All in all, a good update, except for the interface. I feel this update was forced on us, and I might follow in the footsteps of 5 of my friends, and quit the game, because between EOC, (please note I am not trying to turn this into an EOC discussion, so please don't reply to that), and this interface, which is more complicated to me, and scattered as a whole, making it harder to play the game. I have played for 8 years, and am used to the old interface, but while it seemed stale to others, the new one didn't need to be forced on us.

Anyone know why I would get this XP?

1Esf135.png

It's been doing that for a while, sometimes when you login you get +xp in skills that you already have (I assume from level 1). Occasionally I get +100m xp when I login, but it doesn't change anything.

Also, does anyone else black screen when they change their window size?

The interface isn't bad once you actually customize it. It's cluttered at first because everything is there but you can resize/delete/move boxes so you have more space. For those of you who play on Fixed Screen in RS2, there's not much of a difference. It's easy to recreate that similar setup.

I haven't had a black screen problem yet.

For me Runescape 3 was alot laggier than its older version, but considering im actually making good money I finally just ordered the last components I needed to finish my new rig, Ill keep you up to date with its performance on that.

Seeing as I play on fixed screen, It was very easy to move everything and almost 100% recreate the old interface and improve on it. I like being able to add more tabs to the chatbox area so I put all my prayers, abilities, and tasks in that section.

I just hope they make it so the screen is centered based on your available space because sine I set it up after the old fixed interface, my character is centered towards the bottom right of my visible area.

Maybe it'll take some getting used to, but right now I'm not a fan of the interface. Can't find several things and it took some digging around to find what I needed. Game isn't as snappy as it used to be with all the fancy interface tricks they have going on. Here's to hoping HTML5 will fix it.

Current interface I use. Has everything I need (except for the missing action/status bar) for the most part. Little clutter too.

How does a scrolling inventory work during active play? (Bossing, barrows?)

I would probably increase the height of the inventory and move the minimap to the right side and that eliminates scroll. Probably sneak a familiar box in between the minimap/inventory when I do that too. Voila!

How does the interface look when it's not fixed window.
