Doom Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 Current interface I use. Has everything I need (except for the missing action/status bar) for the most part. Little clutter too. How does a scrolling inventory work during active play? (Bossing, barrows?) I would probably increase the height of the inventory and move the minimap to the right side and that eliminates scroll. Probably sneak a familiar box in between the minimap/inventory when I do that too. Voila! How does the interface look when it's not fixed window. It's more spacious. Also just realized they essentially have the oldschool layout. If you press escape, then go to the dragdown menu, just click old school Quote
Leo Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Doom, looks like you were right about the connection thing; just logged in about 10 minutes and everything seemed to run alright. Just a little bit of lagginess compared to RS2, and it wasn't too hard to move the interface components around. Quote
reepicheep Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I really, really like the new layout. It might just be that I have a reasonably large monitor (well, 1680x1050, not huge but big enough), but now I can look at both friends and clan chat separately and stuff like that. I really, really, really like it. But then again I am a man who likes customisation (hence Android etc etc etc and, oh please don't start an iOS v Android war in here tyvm ) Quote
Sobend Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I don't think I'll seriously test this out until I complete the World Wakes which should be pretty soon. It was a goal of mine to do it before the release but oh well. Quote
Make Max GP Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I like the Cut-seene for the Battle :) Just really like the Camera improverents. I can't find the Lumbridge Farming Tree patch though. Quote

Hunter Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 (edited) Am I going to be missing anything major if I don't immediately play for maybe 2-3 weeks? My new laptop won't be here until then, and my current one can definitely not run the game even on the lowest settings without freezing right after logging in. :/ It may not be your laptop's fault. Could be connection issues. You'll be missing the battle of lumbridge as far as I know. It updates every week. For me, RS3 is actually smoother it seems than RS2 That was one of the main selling points of HTML5, actually. The lag people are experiencing should clear up. HTML5 is still in beta. As of now, it's still running on Java. Oh for reals? Performance will skyrocket once they make the switch. If they can clear up compatibility. Especially in regards to OS's which are not Windows. I run the beta fairly well on my Windows partition, but as soon as I switch to OS X (which is handy because it has the bigger portion of my hard drive, as well as a UI I prefer), I drop to a frame rate of like, one frame every 4 seconds. On the lowest settings. Not cool. Otherwise yeah, RS3 in Java has actually boosted performance. I love the concept of the re-arrangeable interface, but there are a few niggles here and there (I lost my floating private chat - I DO NOT want a window with it). EDIT: Sobend, Edited July 23, 2013 by Hunter Quote
Micael Fatia Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Not a fan of big changes so as you can guess RS3 is giving me a headache. I find the adaptation period extremely frustrating, especially because mine are always long. I finally feel confortable with EoC and bam! new interface. ;_; The Old SChool layout does sort of look like RS2 but it's not the same. :/ But I don't find the update terrible, I actually think battle for Lumbridge is pretty fun. Just a pity the teams are so unbalanced, kinda ruins it a bit. I sided with Zamorak, because I like being one of the bad guys, red is my favourite colour and PvP was my favourite aspect of the game before EoC so I guess it makes sense siding with the chaos God. I wasn't really expecting Zamorak to win, but I'm a bit disappointing because I was hoping it would at least be a little more even. I expected Saradomin to outnumber Zamorak because a lot of people seem to like Saradomin (why I have no idea, he's basically a hypocrite version of Zamorak. He's a power hungry fool who likes to pretend he's good, at least Zamorak does not hide his nature) but I'm kinda disappointed because it seems all the people who do not have a preference are all joining Saradomin just to be on the winning side. :/ Quote

Nitua Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Some people I talked to on Sara's side are Zaros supporters (Zamorak betrayed Zaros) and so they joined Saradomin's side. I joined Saradomin because I like order rather than chaos. Quote

Micael Fatia Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Some people I talked to on Sara's side are Zaros supporters (Zamorak betrayed Zaros) and so they joined Saradomin's side. Well the people you talked to are, to put it bluntly, idiots. If you were a Zaros supporter what would you prefer? Have Zaros fight, and possibly defeat/smash/whatever the traitor Zamorak or have Zamorak get banished/killed after this minor dispute possibly ruining the chance of having a Zaros vs Zamorak fight in the future? Of course it's impossible to know what JaGeX is planning to do, but they did mention the defeated God will get banished. I don't know, it just doesn't make sense to me. I bet if JaGeX stays true to their word and Zamorak gets banished they'll all cry about having no Zaros vs Zamorak fight later. Quote
Azarath Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Im enjoying the new interfaces, finally feel like im on a modern game. One niggle was I had my graphics setting turned to low whilst I was playing on my laptop, if I had known that we'd be thrown straight into the cutscene I would of used my desktop and turned everything to max and with sound. Its only minor, Ill just watch it on youtube. Quote

Wheeeeelsun Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I'm glad to see some people are enjoying RS3 :D Anyways, quick question: How do you toggle lobby music off? (Be it in Login screen or Lobby) Quote

Army of One Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I find the new interface quite interesting, but it does need some bug fixing. My Keybinds and tab reply keep breaking, so I have to keep relogging to fix that. The transparent bank is also quite a task to use, and you have to wait after you press search so you end up only typing the second half of the item you want, but hopefully all the bugs get fixed soon. There's a transparency slider. But I believe it effects all windows, would be nice to have separate transparency slider for the bank interface. :/ Quote

I stick with about 50% transparency. Quote

Luvandpower Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) I like the Cut-seene for the Battle :) Just really like the Camera improverents. I can't find the Lumbridge Farming Tree patch though. I like the cameras as well but I am not too fond of the whole "go to the ground level" camera view either it looks somewhat odd to me. hmm :o Am I going to be missing anything major if I don't immediately play for maybe 2-3 weeks? EDIT: Sobend, Eh not so sure about that. I was in the html5 beta (because I joined that club thingy) and as far as I can tell it's stil lpretty bad. On my laptop with an integrated graphics card I stayed at around 1-3 fps always in 800x600 of all things... I'd get about 8-15 fps at any time in 1024x800 or whatever on my old hp desktop with like a 6450 1gb memory card or something like that. I am really hoping the html5 performance is fixed. As far as the java wise go though it's about the same for me. i stay at about 10-18 fps always on 800x600 on the laptop don't play RS on the desktop normally so yeah. Few useful links I found for the new interface. General tips http://imgur.com/a/Ci0Lv Thanks for those tips Doom I was wondering about a couple of those items! :) Will be changing when I get home tonight. My thoughts? I honestly think it's too early to really give an honest opinion. It's the first week so I am sure there will be some feedback on the RS forums that will make some changes here and there. I was shocked about the patch being moved but if I have my roadmap in my head properly it's closer to the loadstone now so I can't really argue? The cutscene is amazing to watch. I saw somebody on here comment about Saradomin being a hypocrite I totally agree! It's like literally and I do mean LITERALLY watching Harry Potter. Dumbledore tries to be the "greater good" person but in reality he has just been bringing harm to Harry for years well same thing with Saradomin. The battle must go on for the "greater good" Praise be to Zaros! Edit:: About the interfaces...I won't go into it in depth with a picture or anything until I get home and I will reply to the interface thread specifically with that but at first I was like OMG I don't like this! But now ...I can stand it I guess but I am still not happy with it. I wish Jagex would had left it with a regular fixed mode with the old custom style for us 800x600 resolution users.
