reepicheep Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 oh g The controller that was announced looks terrible. oh damn yes... Is that a touch screen? If it works well, I'm totally up for buying that baby, so long as it doesn't exclusively work with Steamplay. Quote
20000_Posts Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 No force feedback, playing games with a touchpad is terrible already. Can only access two buttons with one hand? And why are the buttons so far apart? I'll stick to a wireless 360 controller. Quote
zooey Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I think it looks really cool, I'll be trying one out at the very least. Quote
Gary Oak Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) Its innovative to say the least. Besides, they can't copy Xbox or PS controller designs because of legal issues. Anyways, this is still on my list of things to get. I've been a huge Steam fanatic for a while now, so I'm gonna have to try it out. Edit: FYI- If you don't like their cotroller, I'm sure any gamepad will work for it. Edited September 28, 2013 by Gary Oak Quote
thepope1322 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Controller design has remained relatively unchanged since the 90s, I don't see how innovating is bad. If it fails, it fails but people are passing judgement on this thing without having even used it. Quote

'Cause every pro player uses a touchpad, they're so great for gaming! Games also don't have aim assist, so have fun trying to aim with a bunch of crappy 'joysticks'. Quote

It's hardly like Valve made these gamepads to be used by competitive FPSers because a gamepad is never going to measure up to KBM in that regard, but for so many games a gamepad works really, really well. Plus see the review Egghe linked to. EDIT: Steambox specs: GPU: some units with NVidia Titan, some GTX780, some GTX760, and some GTX660 CPU: some boxes with Intel : i7-4770, some i5-4570, and some i3 RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600 (CPU), 3GB DDR5 (GPU) Storage: 1TB/8GB Hybrid SSHD Power Supply: Internal 450w 80Plus Gold Dimensions: approx. 12 x 12.4 x 2.9 in high From http://www.pcgamer.c...rototype-specs/ That looks really, really awesome but I have no clue how this is ever going to be viable as a product because it sounds really expensive. Or isn't it? I really hope I get into the beta, as unlikely as that may be :P Edited October 4, 2013 by reepicheep Quote
