This will be my first ipad purchase. I would rather hold my personal opinion until after I purchase it on November 1st. Best Buy plans to sell them then as well. I haven't gotten a response yet but I am hoping that there is a pre-order possibility.

did u know it comes with ios7 baked in

Is that a bad or good thing? o.0 I just know it's supposedly tied with the rumored specs of the Nexus 10 2nd generation.?

android cant innovate just do what apple do except worse

A7 chip in iPhone 5s? Well shizzle, better put it into the rest of our products and call it new. Still not innovative enough? Well, since Macbook Air did okay, lets make the iPad thinner! THINNER IPADSSSSS

FYI- Apple CEO called the new ipad shizzle. I think Apple is starting to realize their current lack of innovation.

shizzlety naming conventions aside, not awfully innovative, no. I don't understand why they're keeping the iPad 2 for sale on $399 while they're putting the iPad Air for sale on $499, because the iPad 2 is already two years old. A bit silly, but to be fair, making it thinner and around 200 grams lighter is nothing to sneeze at. Doesn't seem awfully smart to put the iPad Mini for $399 because you can get the Nexus 7 with comparable internals (and it won't really matter anyway) and a 323 ppi screen (comparable to the iPad Mini in terms of ppi, but presumably Apple uses other tricks to make the Mini's better? Not sure) for $229.

I don't know if you've ever used an iPad Mini and Nexus 7 side by side, but let me tell you there's a big difference. The app ecosystem of the iPad is just so much better. Not only that, but you can get great styluses with palm rejection built in making it useful for things like schoolwork (which the Nexus 7 is absolutely terrible for).

Yea.

That's fine and I prefer Android.

Apple's biggest success in the world of technology is selling ideas. Their products are high quality for the basic functions they serve. Their ideas stopped being purely innovative and original soon after the smartphone boom, thanks to other tech giants like Samsung. What most people believe is that Apple is the best at everything they will ever do because they bought into the ideas of Apple. The tech specs and software capabilities statistically lack behind other products, but that doesn't matter to the average consumer. The average consumer will buy the product that is pitched to them the best, so Apple products will be popular for a long time. And Apple fans will remain loyal and upgrade every piece of technology they can, even if the Bezel is 34% thinner and the almighty processor has the "A7" label with no tech specs, because they are sucked in. Which isn't a bad thing in any aspect.

Personally, the only Apple product I will remain faithful to is my iPod Classic. It has the simple function of holding every song I could ever want to listen to and the battery lasts for days of playing. No other product will beat it in my opinion. I have already paid for a screen and battery replacement in its 4 year lifetime. I prefer Android phones to Windows, Samsung (non-Android), and iPhones and I have had all of them to compare. The basic functionality with the door open to complex operations is the ideal product for me.

Tl;dr: Drink the Kool-Aid or not. Sarcasm too.

I understand that, but you were making the claim that the iPad Mini offers the same as the Nexus 7 except it's priced higher.

But I do think that that is true if you don't care OS. If you do, then the iPad might be better. Otherwise I see no reason not to buy a Nexus, because they ultimately do the same thing.

I personally don't think this new one is a HUGE upgrade from the last, but at the same time, the iPad is still the best tablet on the market in my opinion. I would love to own one, but I'm not going to go buy one.

Well...no they don't. Yes they do if you just browse the web, but the iPad is a more versatile device.

More versatile how?

Schoolwork, artwork, music production. There's three to start with.

My nexus 7 is cool, but it isn't much beyond an on the go web browser.

You'll find plenty of drawing apps, you have Google Drive + a bajillion other work apps, music production isn't my area of expertise. I'm not sure why this argument even exists because we both know that neither of us will convince the other.

Actually, depending on the person, they do. Mike Krahulik of Penny Arcade does the comic regularly on a Surface Pro, for example.

It's not an argument I was just replying to a comment you made. :P I've seen the drawing and notes apps haha.

Gorillaz did a whole album using only an iPad.

I'm just guessing that this will devolve into an argument that's as pointless as it was last time :cute:

Yeah, the iPad mini has palm rejection to compensate for the smaller bezels.
