_max Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 shizzlety naming conventions aside, not awfully innovative, no. I don't understand why they're keeping the iPad 2 for sale on $399 while they're putting the iPad Air for sale on $499, because the iPad 2 is already two years old. A bit silly, but to be fair, making it thinner and around 200 grams lighter is nothing to sneeze at. Doesn't seem awfully smart to put the iPad Mini for $399 because you can get the Nexus 7 with comparable internals (and it won't really matter anyway) and a 323 ppi screen (comparable to the iPad Mini in terms of ppi, but presumably Apple uses other tricks to make the Mini's better? Not sure) for $229. I don't know if you've ever used an iPad Mini and Nexus 7 side by side, but let me tell you there's a big difference. The app ecosystem of the iPad is just so much better. Not only that, but you can get great styluses with palm rejection built in making it useful for things like schoolwork (which the Nexus 7 is absolutely terrible for). Yea. is the palm rejection on apples end or what? Yeah, the iPad mini has palm rejection to compensate for the smaller bezels. oh interesting Quote
Luvandpower Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 So the Ipad comes out on Friday. I am very excited for it. I have already made reservations so I will be out on Friday for the release date from work. I will be one of the noobs waiting in line at BestBuy I guess! Curious though, what type of accessories/case do you guys suggest? (links pl0x) Also, do you think a case is plenty or do you think I need a screen protector as well? Quote

I don't have specific cases but what I'd recommend is something that protects the entirety of the iPad, so a case+cover. Screen protectors are probably not necessary, but don't quote me on that. I generally forgo them because they'll stop tiny scratches at most (which aren't much of a problem with the kind of glass most modern tablets use anyway) and any cracks will happen regardless. At least, I'm pretty sure screen protectors won't protect screens from cracks. Anybody have different ideas on this? Quote
thepope1322 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I've been a pretty vocal critic of Apple for a while, but nobody can deny that they make quality products. My iPod Touch is two years older than my Android phone and still functions better than my phone had on day one. Apple might not have the most features in their stuff, but the execution is always excellent. Quote

Dude I'm all about that Dodo Case. Have one on my Nexus 7 and it's sweet. Bit expensive, but they look great and offer awesome front and back protection so you can just throw it in your bag and go. TO go down on the price they started to go to Asus. I don't know a lot about Asus besides they make crappy retail computers but excellent motherboards. Quote

Apple uses different technologies from a lot of different manufacturers, which is then assembled by Foxconn. Quote

Maybe I was thinking about the nexus 0_o my bad Quote

Luvandpower Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 p.s. was the spelling in the title intentional? :P Quote
