Sobend Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 So much here and pretty much everywhere else has been focused on the bad changes made to the game. Things like the Squeal of Fortune and EOC are getting trashed right and left. So instead of focusing on what's wrong, I thought we could use a topic to talk about what is right. Here are some recent changes that I like The Music - Definitely one of the best changes out there. It just improves the feel of the game. It is also listenable to now. Graphics - Even though I am nostalgic for old graphics, the newer graphics are definitely better. These aren't exactly new but I thought I'd throw them in anyway as they are constantly being updated. I miss the old EOC armor graphics though. Bossing - Bossing is way better now. For a long time the only bosses were the Kalphite Queen and KBD. These were pretty predictable. Now bosses are being added frequently and always add new perspective. Quest storylines - Definitely has improved since RS3. Before RS3 the only storyline that was interesting was the Mahjarrat one, and even that didn't end as well as it could have. Now there are more interesting storylines. The stories are always making me look forward to new quest releases. Quote
Shooter585 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Actually I like the quest storylines prior to RS3 better. It seems more realistic that you would have more power in a proxy war than a real one. Plus there were (are) plenty of other interesting stories, such as the Plague City one. The music definitely has improved, though. One noticeable improvement is the song Sea Shanty 2. It makes me wish I lived in a coastal Maine town, but then I remember the real estate is pricey and the winters are cold. Quote

After the end of TWW the player is given a large amount of power. That's why the player is playing a central role in all of these world quests. The Plague City quest series was good but I don't really think it ended well. MEP2 was basically the elf dude saying "fix the temple" and Within the Light was so inconsequential I forgot what it was about. And I'm with you I want to move onto some New England coastline when I'm settled. I don't care if the price is high and the winters are cold. Quote
Adam? Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 They're doing a great job with Stellar Dawn. Quote

Still, the last two entries suck. No story or foreshadowing whatsoever. And it doesn't even look like it will lead to the opening of Prifadina... whatever because that will be released through a world event. Edited November 16, 2013 by Sobend Quote
Micael Fatia Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Lore updates have been great since WGS, they're doing a pretty good job imo. Bossing has improved a lot too like you said, they've been releasing plenty of challenging and fun bosses. The new Barrows Brothers are beasts, I went there with 3 other Sal's members and we lasted maybe 20 seconds. Some people may find the difficulty to be demoralizing but personally I think it's the exact opposite, it motivates me to train, make money to buy better equipment and learn the strategies required to be able to do good against the bosses. World Events, I found the first one to be great and can't wait for the next ones. Quote

Shooter585 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I also think Jagex's customer support is a lot better than it has been in the past. When I started playing, if you were freeplay and asked for help you would basically be told to get members. Two years ago (as a freeplayer) I had trouble loading Runescape and I had a month-long exchange with the customer support for help before finally figuring out the problem (it was on their end). I wouldn't have received that in 2005 or 2006. Quote
Shadexpwn Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) I think the mining, smithing & agility reworks that are going to come into effect are simply amazing. There are also the new skills they release every so often and player owned churches that seem to be adding some nice pastimes to the game. Sattern. Edited November 22, 2013 by Sattern Quote

They will make it so mining and smithing tables look like the ones in dungeoneering (or closer to that). Not sure about agility. Quote
Shadexpwn Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I think, from what i've heard is that they are going to be making agility more useful and add some new features to it. I don't know much about the mining and smithing, but know they are going to change it around or add something to it. Quote
