So over the summer I got this new laptop. It's not remarkable, but it gets the job done for me. Anyway, I first played Runescape on it 3-4 weeks ago and it worked remarkably. I have never had a computer run Runescape this fast in my life. I was pretty pleased. However Saturday I logged in and it was really slow. I turned the settings all the way down to lowest and it was only minimal improvement. I thought this problem might go away with time but it still exists. I don't think my internet connection has dropped significantly enough for this to happen and I streamed a two hour movie from netflix yesterday with no problems.

What is going on? Memory issues? Anyway, this is probably simple but I don't know anything about technology. So I could use your advice. And I want to write a guide before I leave for my parents' Tuesday afternoon, so the quicker the better.

Check to make sure you're not in Safe Mode; I find sometimes when the client accidentally switches into it that it gets pretty laggy.

I don't think I am in safe mode because usually it would tell you on your screen, although it may be different for this windows 8 animal.

Well I just deleted my Jagex cache (I deleted the two preference files) and no change

I reinstalled Java and walla - it worked! :) Topic closed.
