Indeed, anybody who is so shortsighted as to look at the newspaper's date would think that it was published on May 22, 1868.

 

HOWEVER,

 

Upon closer inspection, you'll notice that the ink of the paper's opposite page bleeds through it. And, of course, that would cause the text to be reversed horizontally. In order to simplify things, therefore, let's flip it so that we can read that text of the second page.

 

 

Around the top of the page I spotted something particularly interesting.

 

 

For those who don't want to waste their energy squinting:

 

 

It clearly says "Queen's Birthday". But something doesn't add up. The Queen during 1868 was Victoria, yet her birthday was...

 

 

MAY 24^TH!?!?!?!

 

That's a whole TWO DAYS from the supposed date of the paper! I couldn't even hold my breath for that span of time!

 

Clearly whoever published this paper allowed some careless faults to slip through. If it were a real paper, that mistake would never have been made in the first place, meaning that the newspaper is far from "1868". Whatever the case may be, it's obvious that it was created sometime during LONELY'S LIFESPAN.
