Runescape - graphical Issues

Just recently I noticed some issues with the ground texture on my computer.

 

 

As you can see, the texture (grass, etc) is messed up. Sometimes chat text (above player heads) can get messed up too. I don't think this is on Jagex's side because the beta server (which doesn't get updated) has the same things. How can I fix this?

I don't know, but I've been getting a lot of problems with black-backgrounded textures and messed-up minimap textures.

Is it as bad as mine? I don't really think this is a game engine issue since I just started seeing this Tuesday and I get the same problem on the beta server (which does not get updated).

It's mostly grass and other, smaller, ground-based 3D textures, but the minimap is really messed up except for the icons. Sometimes the background is just shifted (so a bank will appear to be out in the middle of a lake or something), but usually the background is missing or mostly black.

What browser/java version are you running? I'm using the latest Chrome + Java and have little/no issues.

I'm also using Chrome + Java. It's a recent version of Java, however not sure if it's the latest. I could try updating Java but I'm a bit busy until Wednesday so won't be able to test this out immediately.

 

Could it be a graphics card issue?

If anybody else has a problem with this, it's an issue with DirectX. Can be avoided by getting the game client or switching to something else.

What is DirectX?

Not really a technical person, but DirectX is basically something that deals with multimedia programming.
